When I was inspecting this a week ago looking at alternative boxes to the Ugoos AM8, I noticed that this new release came with VS10 instead of the last model's VS9, which made me very interested, but it still comes with poor general hardware specs(in my opinion) for their listing price. Offtopic: I had been waiting two years with my GTVwCC(Sabrina) and followed several websites just for a device to be released that had all the important necessities within a single device. I was even considering waiting for the Pro version of the AM8 to be released just so it had twice the storage and RAM. Hah. I wish the Khadas hardware was capable of DoVi, I would have loved to have an M.2 NVMe in my streaming box. Anyway, I appreciate all the content you've given us as well as the one of a kind rank sheet and will continue to support your channel when my AM8 arrives in the following weeks.
Thanks for watching. What I can't wait for is for Android to no longer accept 32-bit devices so everything must be 64-bit. I heard it was coming but no word on when they would implement it.
I'd certainly be interested in that topic. I don't think many people are aware of how helpful it can be for the entirety of the user experience using a 64-bit device. Not to mention that if they're/we're all restricted to 64-bit, then the applications will be optimized to perfection as development won't be divided up as much. 👍
lol there’s a lot of confusing with these comments people are so obsessed with nvidia sheild box that they don’t the right specs lol the zidoo is not a streaming box it’s more for playing back your movie collections like where you can rip them as backup and play back from nas drives or sata hardrives it’s more for that and also sheild pro box don’t support full spec dobly vision I believe it doesn’t support fel Dolby vision profile 7 , there’s a lot of misconception when sheild pro box is a good box but zidoo box is just a totally different
I had an Nvidea shield and Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen. My projector has HDR10+ not dolbyvision. Shield does not support HDR10+ but I can live with that my big issue with shield is a few years ago they removed the auto frame rate match. I have a few other gripes as well with shield. I replaced the shield withg the Z9X pro and HOLY MOLEY. It does everything when it comes to playing my MKV 4K Bluray rips. The interface is great and the picture looks better. It seems to handle HDR much better then Shield and maybe even a littl ebetter then ATV 4K, I connected it to my 40TB assustor NAS The con is the included front end is not the best at gathering metadata compared to plex. I have 335 mkv titles and it got about 290 of them no issue but I had to manually tell it what the rest of the movies were. Once that is is done it is amazing /I am aware that alternate front ends can be added. I probably will not do that as my only issue was the longer setup to find the movies not scraped but going forward I will just be adding the occasional movie or two. Just remember the Z9x Pro is not meant for streaming. It is exclusively for playing local media like MKV blue rayt rips and music etc. For audiophiles they have higher models with better DAC and analoug outputs etc So for now I am good with Apple 4K and the Z9X Pro
I had a Zidoo Z9 box too and the box worked the most time not that bad but the menu and functionality was not really good, in my opinion. Thats why I bought a nVidia Shield then.
Hello, because of what you mentioned, the full menu function is not good? I have seen that same problem in all the TV boxes that use Android, I have not seen a single one that does not have problems with the menus, I have an OPPO UDP 205, The menus work perfectly in both Blu Ray and 4K, everything is from a clear hard drive in folder format, but I have an egreat 10 and it causes a lot of problems with the menus, I have seen that the latest Dune are also with Android and they cause problems with the full menu functions, I wonder if there is a TV box that is really worth it and plays the full menu functions without problem
Yes what happens is that it scans the file and attaches the thumbnail according to the name of the file. So if the movie or video file is named or wrongly the app will attach the wrong thumbnail.
I tried to update the firmware to fix some bugs (like the subtitles are disebled in the settings, but I have to be turn them off again manually each time playing a video, was hoping to get support for older video formats too, and so on), but the official web only shows v1.0.52 and the link you share above immediately closes the moment I try to open it. As I am using the z9x pro for watching movies in a dedicated room with an elder (1080p) projector, it underperforms the old Popcornhour nmt-400. Not sure what the zoom button is for - it only presents unusable formats by spoiling the original picture ratio to something unenjoyable. The old nmt could optimize the pic by zooming in to cut the black bars and you could also do it manually with 1% incrementals. 4k hdr rendered down to 1080p sdr, which clearly underperforms a normal 1080p sdr version. I would appreciate some advice, insights for the above experiences. Thanks!

Even my old s9x plays all video and audio format.this player is best like old days wd player.nvidia is a toy .zidoo for movies in dtsx and dolby truhd atmos. Its play
The reviewer guy says it's not rooted. But the build fingerprint shown in the review has a userdebug build type. I've never seen a userdebug build that wasn't rooted, or didn't include a su binary. It's also kind of weird to see a device with a L1 drm keybox, but with the production build having a userdebug build type. Lastly, usually google won't certify a userdebug build type (due to its propensity to being rooted). All of these things taken together, something seems a little fishy. Maybe I'm wrong and it's all on the up and up, but even if that's true, it's very unusual for a device with this kind of build to have genuine high level drm and any certification(s).
Thanks for sharing that. You are not wrong but those are the results I got. It does however lack official certified features such as Google Assistant and Google Chromecast I might add.
Great vid! I have been meaning to buy a box with external media support for a mobile van setup. I had a subtitle/audio track question since I saw that you used some anime in your examples. Can you apply the subtitle and audio settings to an entire series? Such as in cases with multiple audio languages. Would setting the default audio track to Japanese and enabling English subtitle tracks apply for the entire series? Or must they be manually configured every episode? I've experienced a similar issue on some other players that don't remember your preferences and require you to re-input these settings every time a new episode plays.
Sorry for the late reply. So I tested what you asked and once there are subtitles available for the volume and you set it it remains set for the entire volume. There are two subtitles to choose from one says English and one says Dialogue. I found that when you select the dialogue the subtitles appear as opposed to English. However, when you select the dialogue subtitle it defaults to English when you select the next video and on the remote you have to press the subtitle button to select the dialogue option again. I guess this may vary depending on the volume you are watching and other available subtitles.
Can you do a full video on samba server feature of this device just curious how it works because never seen any one demonstrate on any box's dune or zidoo
Samba server is quite simple Once you open the Samba server feature and turn it on, you create a username and password with the given IP address. With those credentials, you can't log in from any PC or Android device using the username and password to access files and folders on the box itself.

Ripping DVDs or Blu-ray is considered a copyright infringement unless you are the owner of said DVD or Blu-ray, and are ripping them for your personal storage I just wanted you to know that. With that said, you need a Blu-ray optical drive compatible with your DVD or Blu-ray and probably Windows PC and software for the ripping process. Don't ask me what software because I honestly don't know you would have to find that information somewhere in some forum.
Hello, I have switched from a Dune HD 4K Pro to the Zidoo Z9X Pro. The picture quality of the Z9X Pro is very good, but the Zidoo app is significantly worse than the Dune. But the biggest problem is that the Zidoo has big problems with Blu-ray BDMV and ISO with menu. None of my 30 BDMVs and ISOs were played back by the Zidoo without errors. Even a test Zidoo X9S and Z9X have the same problems. HDD connected via SATA. However, my Dune HD 4K Pro plays ALL 30 BDMVs and ISOs without errors. Is this known? Is there a solution, what can I do? The longer I have the Z9X Pro, the more I do NOT like it.

This model should be fine with NTSC, exFAT, FAT32. Another way would be to plug the disk drive into the box and format it as portable storage then you can load all your stuff onto it.
That's not an APK. After you update the firmware you get the Google Play Store and Play Services from which the Android TV version of UA-cam is part of. So see the link Google firmware in the description. You have to update the firmware via USB local update.

No DTS HD Master Audio? You mean your Sony Receiver cannot decode the Bitstream (RAW) sent from Zidoo? You cannot blame Zidoo for lacking DTS HD support of your Receiver.

DTS is supported over optical. But to be clear, that only applies to standard DTS. S/PDIF links (ie optical) do not have the bandwidth to support lossless formats such as DTS-HD and DTS-X, or indeed Dolby TrueHD or Atmos.
You are running a beta version 1.0.65, this version have still some bugs and unable to play TrueHD & DTS HD MA and may other lags, stable version 1.0.52 also have some other bugs but it plays above both audio smoothly.
Yes it does have image enhancement AI upscaling. It's better than of the Nvidia shield in a certain aspects but if you are comparing raw CPU power the Nvidia shield wins hands down

This is a media player and does not come with live TV programs that will depend on the app or subscription you are using. It has 1000 Mbps Ethernet LAN and Wi-Fi 6 dual band Wi-Fi. My Internet speed is 316 Mbps and the LAN port and the 5 GHz band achieved the maximum speed during the test 21:47.
I really don't know why these tv boxes don't provide an air mouse, It makes using side loaded non Google tv apps a lot easier to use like anydesk And remote desktop
Two of the major issues faced with air-mouse on Android TV are the virtual keyboard will have to change to the keyboard for Android TV app so that it responds to most clicks, and the other is that the Android TV version of the Play Store cannot be navigated properly with a mouse pointer so that can be pretty annoying.

I can confirm for Dolby Atmos and Flac however, I discontinued my annual Amazon Prime video subscription due to cost, so I can't confirm anymore if these run in HD on the box.

Yes it can play all and he knew sound formats, it does have the highest display quality with Dolby Vision, I did not test for music formats sorry. It does not produce DTS HD Master audio and DTS X, but DTS neural X. So it's not the best box out there but it's pretty good.
I have an LG C2 an I use Zidoo Z9X PRO for play Dovi. I noticed that Dovi from netflix and Disney installedon tv is brighter than Dovi from HDMI 2.1 Zidoo. Can you do a test? Or Can you explain me why? Thanks
The Nvidia shield is surely a box you can boast about, and similar to the gaming world where the PS5 is like the console you can brag about, the Nvidia shield in the streaming box market has a similar effect. With that said this box doesn't strike to be better than the Nvidia shield but it tries to cater to the needs of particular users who have libraries of movies.

A 64bit chip runs @ 32 Bit , the box burns my money... According to this ad there are no reasons to buy the box, it is neutered . The price is terrible for that .
Yes compared to other boxes the price is higher than usual. I believe they are charging for the Dolby and Blu-ray features the box provides that you can't get on other models.

There is a difference between DTS HD Master audio/DTS X/DTS virtual X/and DTS neural X. What this box outputs is DTS Neural X. So yes it is a DTS formats in general but not the true DTS formats.
@tvboxstop dts neural X is an upmixer that is applied in the stereo and is not sent with a Dts signal. So yes, if a Dts signal was sent the stereo can upmix to neural X or Dolby surround.. When I have zidoo send RAW bitstream via hdmi, my anthem is receiving a Dts HD stream. And not the core dts stream. So if I play a real dts X stream, you can't also apply neural X ontop.. the option is gone as the stream is real.
I hear you but it depends on its usage and what you value in terms of features. If you are only concerned about streaming movies and TV shows, I can agree the price is way too high. But if you are into BD files, Dolby Vision, and 3D, then there aren't any boxes that I know of on the market that can do that, hence the price.
I bought zidoo z20 pro and returned it almost immediately, it's an absolutely useless device. It won't play half of my library (nothing encoded with divx or xvid for example). How anyone can recommend without being paid to do so it is beyond me.
Previous models did not have the hardware and the required decoders to play your video files. This one does. I was not paid any cash, but merely sent a box sample in exchange for a video review. So my reputation is worth more than trying to make a brand look good. I pride myself in my testing, so you need not worry about the deception.

My EGreat A5 performs better than this shit. This Zidoo Z9X Pro is way more expensive, a newer model but performs really bad. I'm really disappointed that i bought this.
When connected to my HDMI 2.1 gaming monitor you get 4K 60 Hz Max, and 1080p 120 Hz. When connected to a non-HDMI 2.1 monitor you only get 1080p. When connected to my 4K TV you get 4K 60Hz and 1080p 60Hz maximum because that is the highest my TV can go in hertz. I'm not sure for TVs with higher hertz if it will go beyond.
I have this box I like it but not many people do. The only one who liked it like I do went by the name. Crazy Russian Hacker. But I suppose people have different options.

This box performs great and I love the new chipset and video decoders. At least when they release a box it provides some value.

The ROM movie at 12:30 - is it misrecognised BDMV folder with japan manga from your test files set?

It does not have a Netflix ESN license so you will not get Atmos from the modified version. I am not sure other platforms.

I've experienced a similar issue on some other players that don't remember your preferences and require you to re-input these settings every time a new episode plays.
Sorry for the late reply. So I tested what you asked and once there are subtitles available for the volume and you set it it remains set for the entire volume. There are two subtitles to choose from one says English and one says Dialogue. I found that when you select the dialogue the subtitles appear as opposed to English. However, when you select the dialogue subtitle it defaults to English when you select the next video and on the remote you have to press the subtitle button to select the dialogue option again. I guess this may vary depending on the volume you are watching and other available subtitles.

Samba server is quite simple Once you open the Samba server feature and turn it on, you create a username and password with the given IP address. With those credentials, you can't log in from any PC or Android device using the username and password to access files and folders on the box itself.

Ripping DVDs or Blu-ray is considered a copyright infringement unless you are the owner of said DVD or Blu-ray, and are ripping them for your personal storage I just wanted you to know that. With that said, you need a Blu-ray optical drive compatible with your DVD or Blu-ray and probably Windows PC and software for the ripping process. Don't ask me what software because I honestly don't know you would have to find that information somewhere in some forum.

I have switched from a Dune HD 4K Pro to the Zidoo Z9X Pro.
The picture quality of the Z9X Pro is very good, but the Zidoo app is significantly worse than the Dune.
But the biggest problem is that the Zidoo has big problems with Blu-ray BDMV and ISO with menu.
None of my 30 BDMVs and ISOs were played back by the Zidoo without errors.
Even a test Zidoo X9S and Z9X have the same problems.
HDD connected via SATA.
However, my Dune HD 4K Pro plays ALL 30 BDMVs and ISOs without errors.
Is this known?
Is there a solution, what can I do?
The longer I have the Z9X Pro, the more I do NOT like it.
There is nothing that can fix those errors than a firmware update. So you should send them an email requesting a fix service@zidoo.tv

This model should be fine with NTSC, exFAT, FAT32. Another way would be to plug the disk drive into the box and format it as portable storage then you can load all your stuff onto it.

I am unsure if you connect a Blu-ray drive if it'll work because I don't have one. But it can play all region BDV files.

That's not an APK. After you update the firmware you get the Google Play Store and Play Services from which the Android TV version of UA-cam is part of. So see the link Google firmware in the description. You have to update the firmware via USB local update.

No DTS HD Master Audio? You mean your Sony Receiver cannot decode the Bitstream (RAW) sent from Zidoo? You cannot blame Zidoo for lacking DTS HD support of your Receiver.

Not that I know of. You usually get Dolby Atmos but not DTS.
DTS is supported over optical. But to be clear, that only applies to standard DTS.
S/PDIF links (ie optical) do not have the bandwidth to support lossless formats such as DTS-HD and DTS-X, or indeed Dolby TrueHD or Atmos.
You are running a beta version 1.0.65, this version have still some bugs and unable to play TrueHD & DTS HD MA and may other lags, stable version 1.0.52 also have some other bugs but it plays above both audio smoothly.
OK so we wait for the updated firmware and let's see if they get it right.

Yes it does have image enhancement AI upscaling. It's better than of the Nvidia shield in a certain aspects but if you are comparing raw CPU power the Nvidia shield wins hands down

This is a media player and does not come with live TV programs that will depend on the app or subscription you are using.
It has 1000 Mbps Ethernet LAN and Wi-Fi 6 dual band Wi-Fi. My Internet speed is 316 Mbps and the LAN port and the 5 GHz band achieved the maximum speed during the test 21:47.

I really don't know why these tv boxes don't provide an air mouse, It makes using side loaded non Google tv apps a lot easier to use like anydesk And remote desktop
Two of the major issues faced with air-mouse on Android TV are the virtual keyboard will have to change to the keyboard for Android TV app so that it responds to most clicks, and the other is that the Android TV version of the Play Store cannot be navigated properly with a mouse pointer so that can be pretty annoying.
they could have given usb 3 to side ..giving it to backside is really painful idea :( every time we need to hook our pendrives to its back searching for hole :P

I can confirm for Dolby Atmos and Flac however, I discontinued my annual Amazon Prime video subscription due to cost, so I can't confirm anymore if these run in HD on the box.
I have a doubt if will reproduce the full blu ray and 4k full menu function WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM? All the latest Android-based TV boxes that I have seen in friends have the same problem, the full menu playback function has problems, It doesn't work perfectly as it does on the OPPO UDP 205, 205, when I read the specifications for example of the latest Dune they say "full menu playback in development", I'm not saying that they don't work but the menus always cause problems, so it would be interesting to know if These will have the same problem, I repeat all the ones I have seen based on Android have problems with the full menu playback function,

Yes it can play all and he knew sound formats, it does have the highest display quality with Dolby Vision, I did not test for music formats sorry. It does not produce DTS HD Master audio and DTS X, but DTS neural X. So it's not the best box out there but it's pretty good.

I noticed that Dovi from netflix and Disney installedon tv is brighter than Dovi from HDMI 2.1 Zidoo.

The Nvidia shield is surely a box you can boast about, and similar to the gaming world where the PS5 is like the console you can brag about, the Nvidia shield in the streaming box market has a similar effect. With that said this box doesn't strike to be better than the Nvidia shield but it tries to cater to the needs of particular users who have libraries of movies.

Yes compared to other boxes the price is higher than usual. I believe they are charging for the Dolby and Blu-ray features the box provides that you can't get on other models.

There is a difference between DTS HD Master audio/DTS X/DTS virtual X/and DTS neural X. What this box outputs is DTS Neural X. So yes it is a DTS formats in general but not the true DTS formats.
@tvboxstop dts neural X is an upmixer that is applied in the stereo and is not sent with a Dts signal.
So yes, if a Dts signal was sent the stereo can upmix to neural X or Dolby surround..
When I have zidoo send RAW bitstream via hdmi, my anthem is receiving a Dts HD stream. And not the core dts stream.
So if I play a real dts X stream, you can't also apply neural X ontop.. the option is gone as the stream is real.

I hear you but it depends on its usage and what you value in terms of features. If you are only concerned about streaming movies and TV shows, I can agree the price is way too high. But if you are into BD files, Dolby Vision, and 3D, then there aren't any boxes that I know of on the market that can do that, hence the price.
I bought zidoo z20 pro and returned it almost immediately, it's an absolutely useless device. It won't play half of my library (nothing encoded with divx or xvid for example). How anyone can recommend without being paid to do so it is beyond me.
Previous models did not have the hardware and the required decoders to play your video files. This one does. I was not paid any cash, but merely sent a box sample in exchange for a video review. So my reputation is worth more than trying to make a brand look good. I pride myself in my testing, so you need not worry about the deception.

My EGreat A5 performs better than this shit. This Zidoo Z9X Pro is way more expensive, a newer model but performs really bad. I'm really disappointed that i bought this.

Is it 60 or 120 frames support ?
When connected to my HDMI 2.1 gaming monitor you get 4K 60 Hz Max, and 1080p 120 Hz. When connected to a non-HDMI 2.1 monitor you only get 1080p. When connected to my 4K TV you get 4K 60Hz and 1080p 60Hz maximum because that is the highest my TV can go in hertz. I'm not sure for TVs with higher hertz if it will go beyond.
