    Are you able to do a video on the aspect of visualization in strength sports? Someone with your background as a trainer could probably talk about it at length.
    How much does the mind body connection matter when lifting weights and to what extent can it be used to improve performance.
    We all know about the lady lifting the car in a life or death situation. From what I understand, the body essentially puts mental barriers in place to avoid injury.
    How far can those lines be pushed. Can you get to a place where you can actively utilize that little bit of extra gas in the tank without hurting yourself.
    Is there any way to strengthen your central nervous system.
    Thank you for your time.

    First of all, epic lift as always
    I just want to know how this record differs from the 267kg Clean and jerk Lasha Talakhadze record. I get the bar is thicker, but 588 lbs seems like an insane difference that no strongman is even close to touching. Would Lasha just crush this event if he tried it??

    • @mitchellhooperstrongman
      @mitchellhooperstrongman  5 місяців тому +2

      The axle is miles different than an Olympic barbell lasha uses. I’d love to see how he’d do on the axle but that’s something you’d have to ask him mate.

    • @japanesecar1501
      @japanesecar1501 5 місяців тому +3

      The bar whip extends the useful rebound, axle is very stiff. Sure Lasha could jerk over 235 comfortably with an axle(I´d bet he could do 250+, but that would be "press-out" territory, I think).
      Oly bar softness helps upwards, but destabilizes the weight thanks to the wobble aswell. Even when they have the height in a solid position, some wobble mismanagement in the body and the bar is enough to fail the jerk. in the end, I think with healthy knees(not even Lasha has those), the Oly helps 15-ish- to 25 kg, in theory.

    • @sagebauer1077
      @sagebauer1077 5 місяців тому +1

      Axle requires totally different technique. Howevere with how specialized Lasha is at the clean & Jerk i think its fair to say he would have an insanely good Axle if he had time to train it.

    All muscles have a theoretical limit to their force production in relation to cross sectional area which is based on the physical parameters of the sarcomere, the contractile unit of muscle. The contractile strength of sarcomeres vary between species because some species have longer sarcomeres, which in turn have more overlapping actin and myosin, which in turn generates more force in relation to the csa. Crustaceans have longer sarcomeres than humans, and their muscles can therefore generate proportionally more force for a given size, in some cases almost twice as much as human muscle of equal size. Based on his strength, and his performance on the shield carry, I propose that Hooper is in fact a crustacean.

    Mitch is just being smart and playing by the rules using a split jerk technique. While it’s legal why wouldn’t he do it like this. He didn’t write the rules of strongman. However I do think at some point the rules will change to say that this is a different lift to axel press, similar to how sumo and conventional deadlift are different. Until then let’s see how far Mitch can push this record.👍

    • @createachanneltopost
      @createachanneltopost 5 місяців тому +17

      Strongman isn't like that. It's only about getting the weight over your head, however you choose to do that. It's more comparable to hitching on a deadlift.

    • @sagebauer1077
      @sagebauer1077 5 місяців тому +17

      Idk man. Sumo and convential feel different to me because the end position is different. With a split jerk, its not like you stop the lift with your legs apart, you still have to stand up straight and end up in the exact same position. I dont think strongman should ban anything between the start & end position unless its super dangerous ( ie log on head)

    I see you've left no stone unturned. You're looking huge and proving to be very strong. WSM is gonna be exceptional this year.

    I like Mitch. I’m a Canadian. I cheer for him. But I think the axle is a lot like the deadlift, should be 2 categories, traditional vs sumo. I think the axle press should be a press, with a secondary category for split leg into press. I just feel like the mechanics are so fundamentally different, it should be separated.

    Are you sponsored by any equipment brands? I sometimes see you rock Evolution Athletics gear but sometimes also Cerberus stuff. Did Loz get you into the Cerberus corner?

    Really not a fan of jerking in Strongman, especially with the axle. I think axle and block press would be cool implements to be done strict, so the athletes could show how strong their upper bodys truly are.

    Moose, please do watch Li Dayin's clean and jerk. Might contribute to that success.

    Do you get any spectators while working out in the public gym? If I saw you or any other world class strongman in the gym I'd lose it and probably get no work done.

    I think this is what strongman should be though. This is raw strength technic athleticism all in one. So I really hope this wont create some debate because of the jerk. Would like to see the other guys do it. (Hint, most of them wouldn't)

    Super impressive, but I hope you don’t go for the record with a split jerk unless the comp depends on it, you’re just opening up a can of worms if you break it

  • @Chimpertainment

    Doesn't the split jerk make the press easier? This stuff is mind blowing but if the strict press is harder, that would make the old records a bit more impressive.

    Moose is like some strongman of legends from a bygone age, that has somehow appeared in today’s world to show everyone that they may be from the future, but they’re still doing it wrong.

    You’re a phenom no doubt, I just don’t think split jerk is in the spirit of strongman 😂
    At least squat jerk looks more akin to a press
    But the rules is the rules I guess

    This is super insane. However I would argue that Eddies or Bibbys shoulders are a little bit stronger as their Lifts were not efficient as Mitchells lift and they are closer to a strict press.

    I do hope they ban double dipping in all pressing events. I want to see apples versus apples lifts as much as practicable. It would be a shame to see a pressing record fall to a split jerk.
