You should’ve done the one with all the props. One time at a comp a girl had so many props and ended up forgetting her dance within the first 15 seconds

EXACTLY. and like when the seniors were laying on stage our team would massage their heads bc we knew how hard they work. our team loves our seniors, and at our recitals we literally form a puddle of tears on the floor when the curtains close. i remember i couldn’t stop crying bc one of the seniors graduated. okay sorry for wasting ur time.

I always feel bad for the dads. They can't do anything to help their child when the kids in the dressing room. My dad always wanted to help me get ready but he was never allowed in so he just stood outside the door awkwardly and every time a mum came out he'd ask if I was ok by myself.
yeah, my dad always did my hair so we’d have to stand in the halls and do it or go to the bathroom if it was unisex

I agree they’ll eat running there dance in the middle of the hallway and a bunch of girls who had a quick change will run into them like can they move
ikr, especially when the teacher was out there nitpicking them too so it was even slower
I got kicked in the stomach once bc of a girl practacing on the hallway
Ikr they are so annoying, there was one studio that kept side eying us. We were dancing at a basketball court and there was some girl taking up the whole dressing room like the whole thing practicing her leg hold turns, layouts, tucks, all of that
I was literally like waiting for the “injured”ones! 🤣
i’m a competition dancer too, i remember a few years ago i had a girl on my team who’s grandma was the ultimate queen. miss girl made sure she had your favorite gatorade, candy, chips, like she had everything it was iconic
"The one that's injured" I felt that on a personal level since I mostly 99.99% all the time right before a competition I injury myself and my dance teachers are always just like really again.
as soon as you said “the backstage crew” all the great memories came flooding back😭
same I was a stagehand for 3 years and I remember all the dance comps I had worked so many memories
to the people who bring the good snacks to all the comps have my heart

I remember I had a competition where I had to change half way through the dance like a full strip down and I had to SPRINT back to our dressing room because the stage had took my costume which was back stage and hand taken my second costume back to the dressing room then I had to SPRINT back in my pointe shoes and a sorta long dress thing to the stage and I was barely on time big dancer vibes lol

as a dancer who turned competitive after 9 years of training (so I was well a senior to the bunch of children when I started competitions) I can attest to being completely drained by the time awards come around, everything happens so late and lasts for ages 😭

Okay but the seniors at awards was so true, once I started learning Russian on Duolingo during awards because it was taking too long haha
for the first dance, my studio requires us to be there at 6:30, literally an hour before doors open😳 most of the time i don’t even compete till 6:00 pm!

So, I dance, but not competitively, *however,* I did do competitive cheer, and you absolutely nailed the peppy announcer, the one doing tiktoks the whole time, that one crazy group during awards, that one group that takes up THE ENTIRE HECKIN HALLWAY, the poor seniors during awards, and basically all of them lmao.
I’m always freaking out before my solo. I once cried and my eyeliner went crazy and I had to go on in 2 numbers and my mom whipped out a makeup wipe and eyeliner and rushed it 💀
My studio has a boy and he is literally the star of the recital and the competition dances 😢
OMG SAME AND THE BOY ISNT EVEN GOOD AND THEY GAVE HIM EXTRA POINTS AT AN AUDITION AND THEY GIVE HIM SPECIAL ATTENTION AND PUT ME IN ALL OF THE LOWER CLASSES WHEN I WORKED MY BOOTAY OFF FOR 8 YEARSS (and a lot of people left bc of it) TEEHEE ok yea i had a lot to say 😂😂

Ok the injured one is just accurate. My friend broke her foot in 4 different places and only found out weeks before competition and it had been broke for a while but like first night of comp and they had to take her to the ER because her foot turned blue. Long story short she was fine and was in a boot all competition and the we did our dance and she broke another bone it her foot.
