    Laird could have been like a secret weapon for The Navy.. Their are probably SEALS that would of had a difficult time doing what she described.

    Its his intensity and brute willpower that keeps him safe. You can't do this sort of stuff unless you are single minded and have faith in your ability. Why does he chase unwideable waves? He says it makes the other 90% much easier. But he also is a pioneer of tow ins and rescues. He is also the main proponent of wearing a PFD. He said whats the point if you ride an amazing wave successfully, only to drown afterwards.

    This whole story was absolutely hilarious.
    100 foot wave takes a kitchen knife and filets Brett's leg. Dude is bleeding out fast, but Laird has time to swim/tow the dude 600 yards to the jetski through a massive group of Tiger Sharks. Dude is still bleeding out fast. Laird can't find key, so he swims to the bottom of the ocean and steals Poseidon's trident and bends it into a key while also killing Grendel's mother for fun. Brett is still hanging by a thread while naked Laird develops elephantitis of the right leg and dreams of going back into the waves. Susan doesn't hear the whole story for a whole week, and then she remembers Gabby's statement: "People know that Laird is intense, but they have no idea how much. And I will destroy any woman who tries to take Laird from me."

    Good descriptive narrative of the story, she obviously had more insight into the conditions and the situation than most non-surfers, just by the way she described it. Susan Casey is an author, she's there observing whatever it is, to tell a story,she's not trying to fit in anywhere. One of her books, Devil's Teeth, which I read, is about the great white shark populations in the Farallone Islands off of San Francisco, where I grew up. Excellent book, backed by personal experience and research, not sensationalist, just a great story, weaving fact in with a little drama.

    Now it is VERY easy to
    See why he is the best we will ever see. Superhuman effort to even GET to the jet ski to say nothing of the rest. Laird is a spiritual person and I think he had help from above to reach that jet ski and save his friend. This is why he trains the way he does. I firmly believe God works thru people and he did this day. Pretty sure Laird would agree. What an exceptional person😁👍

      Bruce John Wayne Well, Bruce John Wayne: Laird does not lie. And he knows waves. Not many honest souls but I follow his vids because his honesty inspires me as much as his ability to ride waves. I actually think that Laird can't lie. Don't blame your thinking he lied. Fantastic story, isn't it? Nothing better than a real fairy tale.

Are there any videos of LH at Nazare or shipsterns bluff on a big day, code red. How about Mavericks or Puerto Escondido. It would be awesome to see those photos and videos.

    • @mifune9634
      @mifune9634 3 роки тому

      Laird has nothing to prove, and in my estimation nothing to gain from lying. It's possible he's mistaken about the size of the waves, but I doubt he's deliberately misrepresenting his experience that day. That said, he had a LOT of experience riding big waves. So, I'd assume he's accurate +/- ten feet or so. It's similar to Mike Parsons saying he believed Greg Long and Brad Gerlach rode bigger waves than him on the Cortes Bank trip where he was documented riding a 77' wave.
