Great video - cool project. I have a 2019 and had the CAE put in it and now there is a huge rattle in 3rd in particular.....(STI, street). My mechanic is baffled....any ideas...? It was his first install so wondered if you had any issues with rattles along the way. Thank you!
Drive a GC8 (MY99) and have no pull-knob to shift in reverse-gear...only hard push and reverse-gear is in...normal for MT5-Gearbox ( 5-speed )...so whats my question: is the shifter not compatible to my GC8 5-speed? Thanks
Jonny Diamond Hey man, i don’t think those fit gearboxes before 2002. I could be wrong so maybe double check with CAE, their website is usually pretty good ;)

Because yes you can install any CAE knob, like the alcantara that i have at the beginning of the video, but for other aftermarket knobs you’ll need to check that they are the same thread size and that they will actually fit
Hey, as far as i know the DM shifter is just an adjustable chassis mounted shifter. While it provides loads of adjustability it does not come back to the center position like the CAE shifter does. So they are really two different mechanisms with pros and cons for each. It would be like comparing apples and oranges
huai hai zhi They are exactly the same shifter except that the street version has a bend in the linkage arm to allow the use of the factory trims and center console pieces.
In this case everything was set perfectly right out of the box. but in my previous build I did have to adjust the travel slightly to get a smoother engagement. The adjustment screws make it really easy to fine tune

Hi mate quick question..I've gt my shifter today... you know the bolt on main shifter rod..when fitting does it has to be loose or tighten it didnt come with instructions lol
Lukas Wilfinger Huge difference! The throw is even shorter than with a short throw shifter and the feel is much more direct since there are no weird linkages and bushings like on the stock shifter. Combine that with the “almost sequential” pattern and you’ve got an incredible shifter assembly well worth the price 💪🏻 But as I say in the video, you won’t know how good it is until you try it yourself
@@SwissTuned true that. drive bugeye (not sti) by myself and the shifter feels even with all bushings that you can buy a little bit sloopy. but still, 1k€ for a shifter is alot of money. enjoy it!

When you put the gd engine in did you use the whole GD harness and spliced in sun roof and stuff or did you merge both together?
I reused all of the harnesses from the STI, check out the previous video (Ep. 18) it explains exactly that :)

From CAE’s website it looks like yes, you can use the STI shifter with their adapter for 5-speed. You can find all the info on their website
