A special shout out to my mom, who is on her first ever trip to Ireland right now. Mexico City is not Dublin, but yesterday's celebration made me feel that the distance was not so far 🇮🇪☘️🇲🇽
In Mexico we celebrate St. Patrick’s day because during the war with the US in 1846 a group of irish soldiers who were fighting in the US side decided to fought with us and they were all killed by the US army
I live in The Netherlands and I am a Turkish boy. I am thinking to go to Mexico someday. I do watch different places of Mexico from my virtual reality glasses almost everyday and I also like Guadalajara and the mountains of Mexico. My heart and my soul and my feelings says that Mexico is a friendly country and has a friendly culture. I hope that it is true what I said? If not then I don't know what to say... Adiós.
htmex77 I know that. I have seen this map about the friendliest countries in the world. i.imgur.com/QV1zCgJ.jpg pictures.ozy.com/pictures/1035xany/3/4/9/104349_2016_08_29_InterNations-Graphic_Expat-Insider-2016-Survey_Overall-Map.png But somehow there are bad and good people almost everywhere.
Onur d(-_-)b Say Hola To Chihuahua Of course everywhere you go even in developed countries is about being in the right places with the right people ... common sense helps ...
Obviously you're an educated white male, unfortunately many people don't think like you, or don't have an education level to see the truth, or kind enough to treat other with respect.
Fuck man, for the name I'm guessing your a Mexican bcz you have Tuzos in your name, but before you speak and make every Mexican look bad learn your history, this celebration is to honored those who died fighting for mexico.
MWN Nazi, Did you even read what I wrote?... You don't know what I meant to say, you just assumed and judge whatever is going on inside you head, don't be so fast at judging if you don't get things or understand them, makes you look ignorant.
lots of mexicans are of irish decent. An irish man called william lambert who zorro was based on wrote your declaration of independence, the culture isn`t that much different
This parade has many years, but we also celebrate with "Batallón de San Patricio", those who help us in the mexican-americain war, on August 20th in some placers like "Convento de Churubusco". Now that place is a museum... There were take place one of the most important battles in that date. There is huge celebration with competition of pipe-groups (gaytas)... And, as Nari said: time to drink!!!
Last place i'd expect a St Patricks day parade.. but AMAZING !! We had a huge one in NYC.. love seeing the Irish Pride strong in Mexico.. Man I miss that country ;) Love the bagpipes !!!
Mexico's Irish tradition dates back to the U.S. Invasion of Mexico (1846-1848) when all of the Irish in the U.S. army deserted the U.S. army and most of them joined the Mexican army and fought gallantly and bravely to defend Mexico. One place neither of you has visited is the Museum of Foreign Interventions which also happens to be the site of the Batallon de San Patricio's last battle, the Battle of Churubusco at the old Convento de Churubusco. You should visit, it is right next to the General Anaya metro stop which you stop at if you take the metro to Coyoacan.
Not to surprised due to Mexicos and Irelands long connections thru history and there is good amount of Mexicans of Irish decent including one of the people running for president in Mexico right now ... Mexicans also love the Irish for helping them during the war
Happy St Patrick's day to all our Mexican brothers and sisters. This land is your land. Thank you for looking after our people. Never forgotten. Viva Mexico 🇲🇽 Viva St Patrick's brigade☘🇮🇪✊🍻
Saludus desde San Francisco and the son of an Irish immigrant to America. Very proud of Los San Patricio's who fought for Mexico during the Mexican American war. Been to Mexico many times and friendly people. Would love to come down for Saint Patrick's day and celebrate with mi Mexican amigos.
what do you mean it a weird way its fucking nice and unique ive been in some parts of the world and nothing like mexico only thing that sucks its goberment and being next to USA borders.
The Irish not only deserted the army but fought in the Mexican army. As a consequence they were hung up to death. Others were marked with a giant D on their face. And were forced to be slaves. They were heroes. And we must remember them as heroes. Just a little portion of the survived and received lands in Mexico.
Wow I'm impressed great video, excuse my ignorance but I had no idea they had a St Patrick's Day Parade in Mexico City, I learn something new everyday, great to know
Well people might think this is not something common but one of the best private high-schools in Mexico city is Irish (el Irlandés) and yeah some of their students are from Irish families. So we have many cultures in our city, we just have to look for them.
Sofia Barrera I agree surprised how many of the comments say they are surprised to see this in Mexico they and Ireland have had many connections thru history including a good amount of Mexicans of Irish descent
Mexico has one million people of irish decent. Speciall North Mexico and San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. And Mexicans and Irish fight together in the Texas War against USA. History
St. Patrick's Day green beer, Hamburgers, Korean food, and China town? It seems like Mexico City is as ethnically and racially diverse and mixed like Toronto and NYC.
Mexico has always been ethnically diverse! Just that the focus has always been on the negative some times. Look for those descendants of Italy, France, Africa, Chinese, Jewish, Arab , Germany, Korea and others! It is not strange though that you are just getting to know this. It's a plus that you have been witness of this. Of course the country has always tried to popularize most of its American Indian cultures most of all. Why? Because this is what constitutes most of what Mexico is made off or at least Indian American mixed with some other group.
No tengo ojos azules. Mejor la aprecio de lejos.
Every time I hear that kind music the scene of Jack and Rose on the Titanic comes to my mind. Mexico loves Ireland for its help in the San Patricio Battalion during the Mexico-US war, when the US stole half of its land to Mexico. By the way, the festival looks great and fun.
Learn some history, the US occupied the lands of Mexico with hundreds of illegal immigrants from the United States, that was the first way they stole it's land to Mexico, then they financed a war in Texas to become independent from Mexico and then they looked for a ridiculous excuse to start a war with Mexico and stole all of it's northern lands: revcom.us/i/454/MexicoStolenLand_V2.jpg
MaryLou Guzman traditions? No ma'am, this is a tribute to Saint Patrick Batallion, during the Mexican-america war 200+ desorted from the USA army to join the Mexican army, THAT'S WHY THIS CELEBRATION TO HONORED THOSE WHO DIED FIGHTING FOR MEXICO. I don't know where you from but if for some reason you tend to be a Mexican, you better learn your history
its mostly due to the st patricks brigade a brigade of irishmen who defected from the us army to the mexican army during the mexican american war after it saw the us army gun down civilians.
My Irish FRIENDS just think! If Canelos ancestors were to have stayed in Ireland! Great Irish boxer you would have! Thank you St Patrick for the emerald Boxer😁✌

In Mexico there is a large population with Irish ancestry that has lost its identity or has been diluted over time. The southern United States and northern Mexico were the same land for several years, populated largely by Irish immigrants.

I'm seen lots of comments from Mexicans saying " OMG I can't believe Mexico celebrates other traditions from other countries" sorry to brake it down for you, but this is a tribute to Saint Patrick Batallion who fought on the Mexican side during the Mexican-american war, man you guys better learn your history.

Mexico celebrating other Cultures, instead of hating them, we have a lot learn from others countries that choose love and not hate.

But they are not other cultures. We the Mexicans (very Mexican) have roots in many lands. Ireland is one of them, but very little known.
Irish men fought for mexico
Yes they are honoring. The Irish that died for Mexico. You sound ignorant to our great history.
Mexico is a diverse place... Irish and anyone else is welcome.

Wow!! recordando al Batallon de San Patricio. Su nombre esta escrito en letras de oro en el Congreso de la Unión.
We owe these to the Irish soldiers that fought for Mexico. I hope they are looking down from heaven and see that we did not forget their sacrifice.
They are looking down proud☘️☘️🇲🇽🇲🇽🇮🇪
