The visuals looks like Yu Suzuki tried to base characters off of Tinkerbell, Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin, Charlotte’s Web, and a lot of other member berries whose flavors I actually don’t recognize
Thanks for the heads up Adam! I'm a Shenmue, Yu Suzuki and on rail shooter fan, so good all round. From a quick check, physical is $29.99 (Switch / PS5) and $25 digital on steam.
I remember hearing of this game, and actually finding out it's from Yu Suzuki. So right there I intend on supporting this game physically most likely on PS5, and very cool it comes out on your birthday as mine's December 13th where I'll be the ripe old age of 35 this year lol.🎉
I have the Playstation 5 physical version of Air Twister pre-ordered. Should be awesome. Also, before Shenmue 4, I would LOVE to see Yu do another Hang-On (whether it's under another name OR if Sega lets him have the license). Why Hang-On? Normal budget motorcycle games these days are all hardcore simulations with ultra super hard difficulty (last two I played were Ride 4 and Rims Racing, both for Playstation 5, and both of those were freaking NIGHTMARES when it came to difficulty. WAY too freaking hard while being super strict with it's simulation rules (EX: Rims Racing: touch the edge of the road and SLIGHTLY go off by a centimeter, that's a "lap invalidated" penalty and you just lost the race thanks to that penalty). The only modern Playstation game I can think of that's a motorcycle game and it's like Hang-On is Super Night Riders (it's a direct homage to Hang-On), but the problem with that game is that it's an indie game that looks it's 3D graphics crawled out of the 3DO (don't get me wrong, it plays well, but the graphics are really terrible). Would be nice to have a new Hang-On with nice looking graphics where I can just race and not have to worry about super strict simulation rules. Also, a new Outrun and Afterburner (even if they have to be named something else) would be awesome as well.
I tried Air Twister out on Apple Arcade after hearing about the game coming to consoles, and Valensia having composed the soundtrack. It almost feels like playing through an interactive version of the “Gaia” music video, with the surreal and fantastical landscapes. Great game if you’re into rail shooters.
Looks like something that could have been a Dreamcast classic. Imagine it in 4:3 aspect ratio. There's something in the movement and the colors that says "this belongs on a Sega system". Even if I didn't know who made it.
Obviously its an indie game, but it feels like something homemade, and genuine from Suzuki. Like grandma's cookies or something. Shenmue 3 was the same way
I've had Air Twister since it came out on Apple Arcade last year, and I love it; I prefer using a controller, while others prefer the touch controlls. There's a surprising amount of depth in the lore of the story actually; its just all in text in the world menu; like, a ton of lore lol (you unlock more and more lore as you progress through the game; there's even more hidden lore beyond the initial "???" lore pieces, which also have to be unlocked). and you can unlock all kinds of gear and weapons and special abilities that help you get through the game further; It's virtually impossible to make it through the whole 12 or 14 levels of the game without unlocking the upgraded gear. Very addicting; I play it quite frequently still. And yes, the music is epic! Highly recommended
Hey Adam, great to see another Yu Suzuki creation being highlighted on your channel! Apparently Suzuki is a fan of Valensia and approached him to get his agreement to do the Air Twister music, very cool. Suzuki also mentioned at TGS recently that YS Net also has something new in the works at the moment - I don't expect it to be Shenmue but will be interesting to see what gets announced.
Its just got such a 90s feel to it. This has the look of the type of game you would see on a TV sitcom. Like that game you always wanted to play but didnt actually exist.
Air Twister is a gem of a game. It may be a simple game, but it does it very competently, with beauty, and whst an amazing OST! At first, I was worried that it would be a very quick, one and done play, but I've been finding myself coming back long after beating the main game mode. It was satisfying to keep earning stars and unlocking all of the extra content. I love how sokme of the guns have secondary functions, by holding in the fire button. These launchba screen killing blast. Along with a really satisfying fireworks explosion of colors. One of my few dislikes about this game, is likely some Apple Arcade UI framework. Namely, the large, and plain looking buttons and icons on the HUD. The first being the >> icons during the cutscenes. We know in the first few seconds that you can skip with a button press. So keeping it on screen the entire time is unnecessary and an eyesore. The other is the slow motion cool down timer icon. I wish there was a way to disable that upgrade. Or at least remove the icon. A bonus setting to complete remove the on screen HUD would have made sense for a game this nice to look at. I love to see a sequel to it, but I imagine that it wasn't a big seller for YsNet. (Also, I think it's pronounced "EASE-NET". Like the game Ys (EASE). I used to call it "WISE" back in the 80's, but not entirely my fault, as it was titled "Y's" on the Maser System. :P
I mean thats totally a space harrier successor for sure, its litrally the same game just modernised right. It looks interesting though, might have to pick it up at some point. Nice watch Adam cheers buddie
Wow! I didn't even know this game was coming out. I really really like the visual style and rail shooters are one of my favorite genre! I'll dig up the Switch physical release hoping in a good conversion since how gorgeous this game is, I don't want lose too much visual fidelity
People were complaining Shenmue 3 was short. The only reason it was short was because its a Kickstarter game. I hope Yu Suzuki gets funding from Sega to make a full fledged sequel with part 4.
I'd heard about this one when it landed on apple arcade! thankful they were able to release it on more platforms I'm just not signed up for apple arcade at all. saw someone on twitch play a good amount of this one, yeah definitely looked like somewhere in the middle of space harrier and panzer dragoon or something along those lines. unforunately he got copyright hit on the music, so suppose it's just as well you didn't include it, but man it is quite epic from what I'd heard! this one's definitely on my radar and if I can pick it up physically I'm gonna do that first chance I get!
The female main character looks like someone I would want to play a round of *Twister* with, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be Mile High in the *Air*
Apple Arcade is actually a nice service if you have an iPhone. Mobile gaming is infamous for being nothing but microtransaction garbage, and apple arcade arcade games are requiered to have NO MICROTRANSACTIONS and Controller support, so if i had an iphone i would probably pay the monthly fee just to have good games on my phone.
I'll never understand the outrage about the game going to epic for a year exclusively. It wasn't like it was unplayable on PC, it just had a separate launcher. And without them, I bet we would have had a much smaller experience due to lack of funding.
@@Nico0020 The reason why Shenmue 3 on Epic Games Store gets a backlash. It’s because the Kickstarter backers was promised the game will be released on Steam. But due to the Game’s Publisher Deep Silver was paid by Epic Games to release new games for 1 year exclusive on Epic Games Store. Kickstarter backers who pledged a PC Version are in outrage. Epic Games did the right thing and give a full refund to all Kickstarter backers who pledged a PC Version. Also, the Retail PC Version does not have a full game data inside a DVD disc. Just an Epic Games Store License Key. I’m not sure if they send a Steam Version as Retail Version with multiple DVD discs or a Blu-ray Disc with a full game data.
Considering how much of a letdown Shenmue 3 was to me, I’d rather the series stay dead. Yakuza/Like A Dragon picked up the pieces a few years after Shenmue 2 released, and it does it so, so much better. As far as Air Twister goes, it’s an amazing game with a heck of a soundtrack. If Ys Net does develop another game, I wanna see them do their take on Hang-On/Super Hang On.
I never played Shenmue even though I love the Dreamcast but I did double dip and ordered Air Twister on PS5 and Switch from Strictly Limited Games so hopefully you'll get that Shenmue 4 one day sooner than later 😎👍
I can't believe this game is really Suzuki's work. It's so bad, it feels like a parody. Like some indie dev slapped it together in a week as a school assignment, it's THAT amateurish. I can't help but think this is just a cynical product put out to make a quick buck. After the clownshow and disappointment that was Shenmue 3, THIS is what he puts out now? And skimming over the comment section... has everyone lost their mind? I can't believe people are praising it like it's a real game. - "But what if Space Harrier was a girl": The Game - Grossly outdated graphics - Laziest possible sound design - Generic snoresfest music that doesn't even fit the visuals - GUI/HUD design makes it look like it was made in Flash in 2001 - Clownish presentation/cutscenes so dull and stupid that it doesn't even come across as funny because it's just so boring and soulless. - Literally a trash mobile game nobody in their right mind would waste time on And people be like: "Wow this game's great! Suzuki's done it again!" What is wrong with people!? This game's T E R R I B L E.
While I could sit and pick at a lot of these points for being a bit questionable it really just comes down to the fact that it’s a mobile game ported to console as a budget title. No one is really gonna expect the presentation of the game to be that high quality. The expectations were set with the scope of the project. It’s very much worth noting that none of the points you bring up talk about how the game actually plays and that’s because the game is just a fun, well designed game. Suzuki’s arcade history of well designed enemies placement and snappy controls puts the game easily alongside if not outpacing most of it’s rails shooter contemporaries.
The visuals looks like Yu Suzuki tried to base characters off of Tinkerbell, Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin, Charlotte’s Web, and a lot of other member berries whose flavors I actually don’t recognize

Yu Suzuki has been on my mount rushmore of legendary creators almost all my life, so im in : D

Thanks for making me aware of this game. Instant purchase!
Glad to see you are giving this game some exposure. it's good space harrier fun.
There is definetly a bit of Space Harrier in there.
Fantastic game from an absolute legend and good to see Ys Net doing other projects that hopefully will lead them to being able to start Shenmue 4.
I'll have to keep an eye out for this. I wouldn't mind supporting it just for the fraction of a percent that it might lead to Shenmue 4.

This looks amazing. I consider myself a space harrier fan, as well as a huge Suzuki fan. If I can attain a physical copy, I’m in.

Was one of those levels Dumbo vs Beauty and the Beast?
Huh, hadn't looked at it like that.
I wasn’t aware of this game. I always liked space harrier too. Cheers for sharing. Love the channel too 👍
This game reminds me of what Chris Tang was tryna do with “Strike Blazinger”
Yea definitely make more videos like this for weird Sega-related stuff, I would’ve never heard of this game if it wasn’t for this video.
I really like this game. Love the quirky style, the gameplay that really takes me back to early 2000 arcade games. Also love the music.

The description of Shenmue is why Shenmue is on the *DREAM* Cast
111th like 🔥 Air Twister originally launched 1.5 years ago on Apple Arcade (iOS, iPadOS & macOS). I’m glad this game is more widely available now.
I will definitely support this in hope of Shenmue 4 🙏
I am wondering why Yu Suzuki is not trying to fund Shenmue 4 with another kickstarter campaign. It worked wonders for Shenmue 3.
People were complaining Shenmue 3 was short. The only reason it was short was because its a Kickstarter game. I hope Yu Suzuki gets funding from Sega to make a full fledged sequel with part 4.
I will buy a copy for the cause

Nice Godzilla shirt. Game looks good!!
just played my copy last night. ordered it from play-asia.
Very interesting Matt.
There is PS4, PS5 and Switch physical in Europe!
I might play this because I like the space harrier games
The female main character looks like someone I would want to play a round of *Twister* with, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be Mile High in the *Air*
Here is my shame comment.. i never till today played Shenmue III
1:05 sin and punishment :'3
This reminds me of Space Harrier, Planet Harriers.
Cool I have Apple Arcade so just downloaded it
It's basically Space Harrier
Well, yes.
I think it would be better if he could speed it up a bit. But apart from that its rocking my gaming world.much big Sega love ❤ super cool !

Found out about this on a shmup forum, ❤
I think I will get this for the Switch.
I bought le ps5, switch et steam version
i really like it !
Do more in the future bro
This looks like Space Harrier
Well, yeah.
If Shenmue 4 is happening. I hope Ys work with Sega or other publishers. I don't really trust Deep Silver. Shenmue 3 on Epic Games Store, anyone?
Shenmue 3 being on Epic turned out to be quite a good thing. They absolutely dumped cash into finishing the game.
I'll never understand the outrage about the game going to epic for a year exclusively. It wasn't like it was unplayable on PC, it just had a separate launcher. And without them, I bet we would have had a much smaller experience due to lack of funding.

Personally i think that Asura The Striker for the PC, looks much better than Air Twister.

Space Harrier type game? Shut up and take my money!
Hopefully this does mean Shenmue 4 is still on the table.
I am boycotting Almost Space Harrier until the Panasonic Q video
Unreal 5 ?
Shenmue 4, or Shenmue zero?
Cool game. Shenmue 4 needs to be on the Sega Dreamcast where it belongs. 💯

what is bro on about
Yakuza is nothing like Shenmue.
Just because one exists, doesn't mean the other can't.
So knock it off.
Shenmue Dragoon
No offense Adam like your videos, but you hyped up shenmue too much. Still always liked video.
How dare he hype up his favorite game
Next time I'll pretend not to love something that I love.

Not digging it tbh, looks cheap

Space Harrier clone.
you're not wrong I guess lol
