Wonder if these dudes are all still friends. At one time the last band practice was the last band practice forever. We all grow up, things change, and we long for these days again.
bruh...don't make me cry man. even though we grew up...most of my punk and ska friends from the 90s are still anti-establishment, sideshow freaks, milking the system one way or another.
Well, they're not an actual ska band. They combine elements of ska with other bands, but all in all, they're not a ska band. I'd say actual ska music would be traditional first wave ska from real ska musicians
This is straight punk not at all ska.. There are no horns at all.. Listen to mu330 - stuff, if u wanna hear the difference.. Or anything from the mighty mighty bosstones is text book ska.. Less thank jake also has some songs that wld be considered ska.. Ska is basiclly punk rock music with horns and a reggae-ish vibe like sublime.. Sublime has horns in a lot of theyre songs.. By horns i mean brass or woodwind instruments but mainly brass instruments like the trombone or trumpet.. Wa0I do still love ska.. Reminds me of the mid 90s/ my early teens when life was carefree and fun and all i cared to do was skateboard and cause trouble with my friends like most other skateboarders did on michigan
It is a much punkier ska. The ska part is really just incorporating the upstrokes. None of the bands you mentioned are 'technically ska' either, but punk ska. True ska is very old, and is based in reggae completely. Listen to 'hey' by this band if you really need horns.
Well technically this is considered 3rd wave ska. 1st wave ska being the original like Prince Buster or Rico Rodriguez who are truly legends. In fact the recent band The Skatalites are heavily influenced by first wave elements. Then you have second wave of Jamaicans leaving the island in the 1970's going to England and integrating the up beats of ska and the English electronic synthesizer sound creating the 2Tone Era. Some of the biggest bands would have to be The Specials and The Selecter. The black and white checkerboard pattern was also a big deal as it symbolized two different races working together. One of the biggest songs for the release of Nelson Mandela was created by The Specials. After that ska dies down for awhile and punk kids start picking it up and you get bands like Operation Ivy, The Toasters who were considered still in the punk scene. Kids who were around the punk scene but not heavily involved starting picking it up but giving a lighter sound and not so menacing as real punk music can be. You start getting bands like Less Than Jake, old old old No Doubt, Reel Big Fish, Mighty Mighty Bostones, Goldfinger, The Suicide Machines who all for some god forsaken reason all say they really aren't ska, like they don't realize they are the scene right then and there, drives me crazy. That's where were at right now, I mean there are bands like RX Bandits who started out right there in the 3rd wave sound but progressed in a completely experimental dimension, they still fucking rock though. Also reggae and ska are two different genres and ska actually developed first and then reggae came to be. I really love the entire spectrum, you really can't go wrong and it just relaxes you when you need it too and pumps you the fuck up when its game time. I did omit a ton of stuff and this is strictly my own opinion on it but it does reflect on what was happening each wave of ska. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
I started listening to this band 20 years ago. Never realized Ive never seen the guys. They are so unassuming. Would never even think they are musicians.
... I knew someone who died in a Cavalier in 2019. Never drive when you're tired, between 2 and 3 AM, just 3 days before your birthday as a 21 year old college student. And wear your seat belt. But maybe he swerved to avoid a deer.
its now march 2023 and i agree, and i even like the video, it reminds me of making class projects or for fun projects in high school on high 8 and figuring out how to transfer to computer to edit it. great times, look at my stupid videos in my profile, which i stopped making probably before this video was uploaded, same era only they were better at it
Man this song always brings back so many memories every time I hear this I always remember playing Pro Skater when I was 6 years old with this song playing in the final few seconds of the game and button mashing to get more points than my brother

i know the first verse SO MUCH!! It was the song Superman. My favorite is Answers. I think my dad is still wondering why a Bose car radio is so fragile... We know the answer!
So many memories come up with song, rocking out to this song on our "skateboard" videos we made back in the day....blaring this song in high school in the late 2000s and everyone thinking it was because of THPS haha
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater FTW! I remember the words on the Memory Card screen of the Dreamcast saying words whenever you failed a stunt. Darn U Suck Those were hilarious!
I enjoyed the video!! Also, who cares if you thought you were being badass. You have the right to. I feel badass when I listen to awesome songs. It doesn't make me snobby or stupid. It just makes ME feel good. Everyone has their own opinions, tastes, and feelings. And this is a form of art; show off your talent! Good for you. Keep it up. =)

Technically a bunch was filmed at my high school. But actually we were just bored one afternoon. My friends saw another video of mine and wanted to make a music video. It was just as improved as it looks.
It's mainly slay cutting that will build the board skateboarding and wax cutting detail should make a design then ultramate 32-1/2 that should retain a clean look then get a design or create one.
Catching slayboard makes yourself a skateboard it's a technique for design of weight 33-1/4 all the way around by lange of 35 degrees other then that how could you way in flat boards when they we're used in 1960 tell 1975 or even a Brattle hit creates a designed table just means patterned 36-1/4, 32-1/2, 29-1/3, 19-1/8, 56-1/3, 37-1/13, 23-1/5, 33-1/17, 25-1/4, 50-1/2 all patterned a Brattle hit with those numbers and you would have a nice table knowing the number catching the chase of weight that's how numbering mind in me just works I can see a nice Rounder in design.
I love home made punk videos
I usually listen to heavier music, but I'm starting to get into punk & ska. Mostly because of this song. It's awesome, and the drumming's wicked too.
Tony Hawks Pro Skater is a good OST to start with, they sample some great stuff.
Streetlight manifesto my friend
This is entire debit album is fantastic.
You still into it?
is it me or do I hear Skating in the background in some parts
That Happens When You Play THPS Too Much
Grinds and ollies
I hear cameras 📷 *gap trigger*
Its me when I was 3 playing with my dad's car
Nah bro I do hear grinds and shuvits and powerslides and bonelesses and everything
Wonder if these dudes are all still friends. At one time the last band practice was the last band practice forever. We all grow up, things change, and we long for these days again.
Totally agree, every now and then i come back here for the nostalgia feelings
We are still friends, but life has taken us in different directions. I can’t help but feel nostalgic for simpler times…
@@murdoch483 i listened to this in tony hawk
@@murdoch483 might be nice to see the original line-up tour again.

The best ska band ever created in my opinion...is rare to find a band where you like all the songs
Well, they're not an actual ska band. They combine elements of ska with other bands, but all in all, they're not a ska band. I'd say actual ska music would be traditional first wave ska from real ska musicians

Yeah destruction by definition is a masterpiece
I love this song. I love the band as well.
I wish I wasn't so young when THPS came out. I took all these songs for granted and now I realize how awesome they are.
I started listening to this band 20 years ago. Never realized Ive never seen the guys. They are so unassuming. Would never even think they are musicians.

Haha that was awesome! Such an old ass song makes me feel 17 again.
I haven't seen this many cavaliers since high school or the junkyard 😝 oh, nostalgia. This song still kills it.
