Even if the knife was covered it some kind of toxic waste (it wouldn't be, since Planeteers were still anti-pollution), they don't have the strength to push a knife through the tough skin of Captain Planet. The dude once threw a giant machine to the SUN. No way a knife is piercing through him.
In retrospect, this sketch is much less probable than the later sketch they made of captain planet where he destroyed humanity because they destroyed the earth. His first allegiance is to the earth, than to humanity, and he would absolutely destroy humanity if that meant it would help ecosystems recover from any artificial damage
