  • We will explore the three types of transitions that occur in a dynamic learning environment and demonstrate how improving these transitions can elevate the classroom experience for both teachers and students.
Whether it's bringing the kids into the classroom, seamlessly shifting from one activity to another, or navigating special occasions, we've got you covered!
    1. Classroom Entry and Exit Transitions: First, we'll dive into the art of transitioning kids in and out of the classroom. Whether you are getting the kids lined up for lunch or coming in from a special class you will want to set your students up for success with these helpful tips.
    2. Intra-classroom Transitions: Within the classroom, transitions between different activities play a vital role in maintaining a productive and engaging atmosphere. We'll explore various techniques to seamlessly move children from one subject to another, such as transitioning from math to reading or during station time. Discover practical tips, visual cues, and engaging transition activities that help keep the classroom flow efficient and minimize disruptions.
    3. Special Occasion Transitions: Every so often, our regular routines are interrupted by special occasions such as picture day, parties, or assemblies. We'll discuss how to navigate these unique transitions smoothly, ensuring that children adapt quickly to the change in schedule. From preparing them mentally and physically to creating a sense of excitement and anticipation, we'll cover strategies to make these non-routine transitions exciting and stress-free.

Thank you so much for these ideas. After watching your video I embedded the Snoopy song in a powerpoint and everyday at 10:32, I press play and my kids know exactly what to do, tidy up, put snack on your desk, get coat, and line up for recess. The delightful tune puts a lid on their chatter. I had a guest teacher recently and she said the slide (and transition) was magical. Thank you so much!!!

Yahooooo. I’m glad you got to see the magic. Kids want to do a good job and when we give them a solid routine and make it fun it really does feel like magic. Thanks for sharing your success.

Thank you! Do your dots with their names attach to the ground? If so, can you please share how? And how do you keep students from playing with the dots?

Great question. The dots are a hook and loop material (velcro) and they don't play with them too much if they are sitting on them. If they do start playing with them it's a pretty good indication that I need to switch stuff up and get them up and moving or talking.
