@antoniocenteno1483 did u watch his 501kg lift? if u watch it side by side with this lift, he pulled almost the exact same speed if not faster from his 501kg, his 501kg speed off the floor is faster and the Lockout was better too, go back and watch again, yes he is lighter now but nobody cares, ppl only cares about the what is the weight on the bar

I dont really understand how people see this and think he cant surpass his best, hes in training, not peaked, not full gear use, and it was still a rather easy single
He clearly had like 475+ in him today. Given time he'll be able to deadlift 500+ similar to this difficulty. He's not peaked yet and he's also 191kg rn and needs to put on more mass.
yup he isnt even trying to peak for 505 rn, he still has to bulk to atleast 205 kg like before and go through a proper peaking phase where his last heavy deadlift is 470-485
Mass doesn't transfer so much to heavier weights when it comes to deadlifting. It's the one lift that won't improve just by gaining weight. 505 might be possible, probably not this year. He is to far away still.
191 is already 10-15kg near his max weight and bow he is leaner (more quality muscles, less fat). he won't imrpove much when he tries to go on 205kg or more bodyweight. his bidy weight wont be nuch of a factor at this point.. he already pulled 460 i think on bodyweight of around 175kg or?
The hell some people mean "not confortable enough"????? Like did they saw the speed as he going up???? Really there are people that like talk shit even in good results 🤦🏽♂️
Because when Eddie pulled 420 and 465 he basically stood up with the weight. I’m not bringing up Eddie for the past drama it’s just they’re the only 2 guys to ever do 500. Now I have no clue what it takes to lift 500 but since eddies process is so well documented it’s the only thing I have to compare. And this 460 doesn’t look like a 460 that can ramp up to 505. But I’d love to be wrong!
@@vicenteochoa6498 Are you comparing Eddie's comp day lifts, guessing so based on those weights, with a training lift from Hafthor? They are not the same thing. Eddie was obviously peaked, since it was the competition day, whereas Hafthor is in training.
If you look carefully it still went up fairly quickly, a slight hitch at the end. Based on this lift I think his max right now is 480 which would be a grind for sure but he is still not back to his full deadlift strength.

That's AT LEAST 17 deadlifts more than 460 kg, I'm missing many others. Many of these weights have been pulled in training multiple times, and there are a couple other lifters who have hit around 460 kg as well
In his UA-cam video he says he didn't start in the right position and so didn't pull it optimally. I think that along with his recent long distance travelling may explain it. Still time to improve on it
@g__l7217 he has his own deadlift comp planned just before the Arnold. He's talked about it on UA-cam but I don't even know if the date has been set in stone yet
He still has atleast 5 weeks of prep and he needs to get the deadlift suit figured out already. I think his current suit is hardly giving him anything at all. Also he's at 191kg body weight compared to the 208kg that he weighed when he did 501.
The comp at arnold classic is elephant bar and no suit. Thor isn't peaking in a suit for that, he's just gonna show up. But his deadlift in-suit prep is for a 501 record attempt against mitch hooper later in the year. He's quite a while away from peaking.
Thor said in one of the recent videos that most likely he will attempt to break the record few weeks before Arnold’s. It all depends on organizers of the event. If that’s the case he is 5-7 weeks left from the competition.
He also said he didn’t get the roll in just right, position was not ideal. His training partner that day recorded it and as he was playing it back, they both mentioned it. At that weight, the slightest bit off makes a difference. He’s fine weight still went up and he put it down too.
People here obviously don't understand much of a strength training. One needs to peak, fine tune the body and have a proper feed and rest so you get full ATP stores up and your CNS is fresh. Also probably he's not in a training cycle to break it now, but it's good to stay in touch with the weight closer to it, so your body is used to the stress. Still good lift, even though it looked almost as his 501 lift RPE. Definitely can do it, if he peaks well, and we all know Thor knows how to do it.
This is what he is showing us. When he pulled his last heaviest it looked really easy. Plus he said he wasn't in the right spot. I am sure he is reaching his goals.
if youre comparing it to his other lifts above 460kg it was kinda slow. That being said, Thor mentioned he wasnt in the best starting position and also hes not in peaking phase just yet
It happens to me every time I'm peaking for a max lift. Weights lighter than my previous max get ridiculously heavy as I'm nearing my max effort day. Then on that day I'm repping those weights for 5s or more.
To put into perspective, he was about 15kg heavier body weight when he lifted 501kg. Also hafthor only started training heavy about 6 weeks before this lift, which isn’t even halfway through his full training period. He has a ways to go and he looks comfortable enough that 510kg still looks possible.
For 460kg, it looks extremely comfortable. He just threw a simple lift. Not as fast as a 360kg lift, but it's almost literally the world record weight, so it's more than comfi.
Thor also stated that this is his old deadlift suit that doesn’t actually fit him correctly anymore. So he’s definitely got some wiggle room to add some extra kilos.

Thor is smart with it and he could definitely do it, it just matters, if he peaks at the right time.
