Its pretty easy on a hex map, you basicly half all movement profiles and range bands. I would suggest maps with many trees or hills so you can have cover
@@MrHeadphones64 But then wouldn't I have to stop and explain how high a battlemech is compared to the hills and trees? Map Pack Grasslands is probably interesting to play for veterans but is harsh on new players for the amount of terrain on every map
Those are associated with special ammunition and no, the rules for those are too easily abused and aren’t factored in accurately points wise. Specifically the inferno ammunition in particular.
I don’t find clanners OP in AS at all. You pay points for them. I actually talk about the quality vs quantity equation all the time and if I’m playing competitive I lean towards IS a lot because their units are cheap and tanky. Clan stuff is typically a glass canon that costs a lot and if you play with clan organization and bring low model count, low skill forces you’ll lose objective games most of the time.
That intro was gold
Good game! Enjoyed watching.
love the intros.
What does introductory alpha strike look like on a normal battletech map, and which maps would be best for new players?
@@alecciarosewater7438 I don’t play Alpha Strike on hex maps. Game mats wise I favor Urban Zone from Table War as a good city mat for Alpha Strike.

@@alecciarosewater7438 theres a part in the alpha strike rulebook that talks about converting the mesurements to hexs, pages 68 8s where it starts
@@alecciarosewater7438 but an open map would be good for the basics
Do you gentlemen use the abilities on the cards such as SRM and LRM? they seem almost pointless and confusing. For beginners at least.

@@Thearmedpainter What about the simpler specials such as AMS, STL, and the infamous REAR2/2/- ? Those are also part of the box set
Still hate the clans, they were OP until Battle Value came out 2.0, and now Alpha Strike is the same way. Waiting for Alpha strike 2.0 update.

@@Thearmedpainter True! but how many people play objective opposed to just force on force. I am an IS loyalist as well. Thanks dude!
