- I got a new gaming PC to replace my rubbish laptop, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to show y'all how to move your mods, saves, households and builds over to a new copy of The Sims 4.

As requested by commenter goods1ms, here are the specs for my new PC:
Case: Lian Li Lancool II Mesh RGB White
CPU: Intel Core i5 11400F 6 Core, 12 Thread 4.4GHz
Motherboard: MSI B560-A Pro ATX Motherboard
CPU Cooler: Artic Alpine 12
Memory: Gigabyte Aorus RGB 16GB (2x8GB)
Graphics Card: MSI RTX 3060 Ti Ventus 8GB
PSU: EVGA 750W GT Gold
Storage Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
External Hard Drive: Seagate Portable 2TB

Just gonna pin a comment here because I see so many of you guys asking the same question - sadly, you CANNOT transfer packs you've bought on console to your PC, or vice-versa.
When you buy a pack on either platform, that pack gets registered to the account that bought the pack.
So, say you have a Playstation account. I'll call it PlayAccount.You go on your playstation, log into PlayAccount, boot up the sims 4, and decide that you want to buy Cats and Dogs. That pack is now registered to PlayAccount.
Then you decide you'd actually rather play on PC. So you boot up your PC and you open the game through the EA App. Your account on the EA app isnt registered to PlayAccount. On this one, you're EAccount. EAccount and PlayAccount are not registered to the same company, and there is no way to link them. So, if you want your furry friends on PC, you WILL have to buy the pack again.
There's no way around it, unless you want to sail the high seas, which I do not advocate for due to risk of downloading malware or getting permabanned by EA.
I will be ignoring any and all comments asking this question in the future.

I’m very scared to do this does it 100% keep all households and saves?
How big of a flash drive do I need?
@maddiegup2559 hi Maddie it kept all of the saves for me, but some of my households and builds didn't carry across in the move. I'd recommend uploading your builds and houses to the Gallery - uploading, not just saving - so you can redownload them on your PC in case any of them get lost in the move. The size of your hard drive depends on how much space all of your files take up in your PC so it depends how many saves you really have. If you only have a small flash drive, then you should be able to transfer over a few at a time instead of all at once. It'll take longer, but at least you wouldn't have to buy a new one.
for everyone wondering about expansion packs- the expansion packs ARE NOT TRANSFERRABLE, they ARE ATTRIBUTED TO YOUR EA ACCOUNT. so if you log into the ea app with the same account you bought the packs on, you'll be able to redownload all those packs onto the new pc. i hope this helps and sorry for yelling 😭 (just wanted to stress those points heh)

Damn that’s a shame I just got a computer like yesterday I had a Chromebook but you know how that went 😅 what I was saying is I had hope that transferring could be the case but ig not but I still have hope seeming I payed like about £200 packs on my Xbox so why would I want to buy them again 😂😭

I can't thank you enough! I switched from an ancient mac to a windows 11.(ts4 on my mac would sometimes take 45 minutes just to load 😰) anyway even though i backed up my save file on a flash drive, I had no idea what I was doing and couldn't find the save folder. Thanks to you. I now have my save file upand running❤❤❤. I am AWEFUL at this techy techy stuff. I needed a human!

A shame unlike steam ea app / origin has no cloud saves
would it be the same process if i’m trying to make a new ea account? so it’s not connected to the other one (i don’t have packs)

Hi, I just transferred de mods folder on to my new computer. But when I start the game, the mods are not there. And I also activate the mods in gameplay etc. Need help!!
Hey, it might sound simple, but have you enabled mods in the game options menu? You'll have to restart your game after enabling them.
Sooo, I just moved everything from one computer to another. And all the CC and mods came along just fine. But my households did not.. do you maybe have a solution to that?
I'd recommend saving your households to the Gallery - that way, you can just place them back in your game

Hi, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this but I was logged in on Origin to redownload the packs, as they are registered to my account
Do you know anything about transferring expansion packs between PCs? I'm really considering going to PC to play but I'm too scared I'm going to buy packs and when I get a new PC It won't let me have them anymore.

So all the money I paid on the worlds I can’t transfer to my other pc ? I would be devastated If I have to buy that all over again
my cc works fine on my current pc but when I move the files over I cant launch the game cause it says they're all corrupted?
Hmm... I'm not really sure about why that is. Some of it might be missing important meshes, or it might be your antivirus. I'm not really an expert on CC, to be honest.
Hello so I was playing on ps4 and purchased most of the packs on there, now I play on pc and the packs aren’t there. Does this work the same for ps4 and pc?
I'm afraid packs and files can't be transferred between PC and console. Your packs are registered to your console account, and on PC your packs are registered to your EA account
There none of those files on my Sims 4 file :(
So you have to replace the house and family into the world for the new computer? I upgrade to pc from laptop too and Just went to play the old saves and it wants me to select the season and house lot all over again so I'm not sure if any the progress made with the family will actually be made, Ex: I married my son to a girl in game.
Also for some reason they have 0 funds

As far as I'm aware, it's unfortunately not possible to transfer packs between accounts. It might be worth contacting EA customer support, though.

I'm not a tech expert so I can't say whether or not it's a good idea to copy your entire hard drive over. Every time I switch to a new PC, I will redownload any programs and just copy over any files or documents I want to keep if that makes sense?
So I have over like 20 Expansion packs on my ps4. And I’m wondering if it’s possible to move that stuff to a PC
I'm really sorry, but that's unfortunately not possible - packs can't be transferred from console to PC and vice-versa. The base game is free now, so you could download that, but you'd have to buy the rest again.

Hi, I'm really sorry but I haven't actually done this with the Sims 3 (something I'm regretting myself now that I have to find all my old sims 3 CC and mods). Another solution might be to get a list of all your mods and re-download them into your new copy of the Sims 3?
@@simserra I managed to do it, I basically copied my entire sims 3 folder onto a pen drive & plopped it into the documents folder on my new pc, and everything worked! ❤️

Hi there! Unfortunately, there is no way to transfer packs from console to PC, or vice versa. You will need to purchase the packs again from scratch via either Steam or the EA app. My best advice would be to keep an eye out for the regular sales that EA likes to drop, usually just before a big pack comes out, or a few months after.
What if the files mods, saves, screenshots and Tray are not showing up on the files when I download the Sims from a new laptop?
You have to get the files from your old computer

I think it shouldn't matter if you move over more folders, but the ones I described are the required ones. The rest will be generated when you load up the game xx

They should still be in your library on either Steam or Origin, you'll just need to re-download. Unless they were pirated, you won't need to pay again.
How can I find my electronics arts folder I have the game on steam and can’t seem to find that folder
I have the game through Origin/the EA App, so I'm not sure if it's different with Steam, but from my experience it always tries to download to the Documents folder, so I'd look in Documents>Electronic Arts>This Sims 4.

You can't transfer packs but you might be able to copy save files over to a new account! It's just a guess though.

I'm trying to go from mac to pc, it didn't work. i think the files have different formats
Sorry my comment is outdated, I got it to work. Some people say to not move the auto save file but when I avoided that one my world didn’t come up. When I moved everything including that file it worked

It’s been corrupting my cc which has been a pain in my ass since I had like 2,000 cc items and I’m having to go through one by one to find and remove the corrupted ones

Hiya, I can't really be sure about this, since the only Apple product I own is an iPad, but I think it should still work, as I don't believe the files are different between versions.
It might be worth trying out yourself, but please let me know if it does or doesn't work!

Is it only those folders to move? Have you heard of the link shell extension? Why do people use that? Annnd why is it so scary to move this stuff hahaha 🤣 😭

Can I do this with sims 3?
I haven't tried it with the Sims 3 so I couldn't tell you - I might make a video on it one day but I only have the one PC woth sims 3 save files, so I'm not able to transfer anything over
Difference is I have 12000 mods so this has been hellll
Oof. Maybe this is your chance to go through them and take out what you don't need? I can't imagine how long it takes your game to load 🙃

I'm sorry but packs and files can't be transferred between PC and console. I'd recommend uploading your families and builds to the Gallery and redownloading them on the PC through there
