- Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw said troopers received a call early Tuesday about the man standing on an overpass above Interstate 696 in Huntington Woods.

They need a rest anyway.
They get paid by the mile and they’re timed. If they don’t meet those times. They lose money

We all know the man could have easily chosen to jump in a gap between the trucks, but that awesome show of support helped him see how important others felt his life was.
He'd likely hit part of himself on the truck, interrupting a straight fall. He'll still suffer severe injuries but he'd have a better chance driving. Those gaps weren't big enough to jump accurately through.

The foreigners are the problem. I believe the government allows all these non-U.S.-citizens to drive on our highways without paying hardly any tax to prevent a strike amongst truck drivers. Why would the foreigners go on strike? They won’t because they are making more in a month than they could make in 1.5 to 2 years in their home country. They are some of the most unskilled dangerous drivers on the road. Courtesy for other drivers trucks and 4-wheelers is almost nonexistent.
chazparish in my country the only foreigners allowed to work are specialists such as teachers, engineers, and other highly skilled jobs. They still pay a higher proportion of tax compared to locals.

My grandpa was a truck driver for his entire life and he was one of the greatest men I’ve ever known. He was the definition of a bleeding heart with the most kind and gentle soul that exists in this universe. I wish he didn’t leave the world so soon because it was better off with him than without him.

My son is a trucker and I know if he had been there, he would have done the same. His truck was hit last January by a snow plow and the police shut off the highway while he was still there. Some sort of mix up in communication. No one from his company or anyone from our family could come and help. His phone was almost out of juice, he was cold...in farm country where most people of color are not seen much, so he was a little scared. I got on face book and many people began praying for him. I only mentioned the people of color thing to make a point. Out of "nowhere" came a string of farmers, their wives and familes with a big contraption they used to get their own vehicles out of snowy ditches, the women brought hot drinks, etc and warm scarves, etc. I have always warned my children not to worry about someone's looks differently or does not have your same issues. Instead, believe in the content of a moral heart and depend on the theory that deep down, we have the common denominator of goodness. This whole story made me cry and I continue to believe in people and Am,erica, in spite of the stuff in the news~ #payitforward

I think because of the higher suicide rate around the holidays, this showed up.
It's due to the holiday season. They said that the man was having family issues. We don't usually get triggered by money or a job at the end of the year-it's almost always family or loneliness. This seems to be a message that 13 strangers care more abt you than you know. I lost my best friend to suicide on Jan. 2, 1992 at age 18, bc of family issues.. 💝

A friend of mine passed the same way. He was so lively when I last saw him. Everyone should watch for sign and never stop telling your love one how much you care about their existence.
It all matters while we are alive but once the soul to body separation becomes eternally complete are probably when the real answers show up. It would just be nice to get the answers now but we can only plausibly assume or just ignore.

I was traveling 75 S where there was a massive accident. Several truckers were behind each other making a single lane for traffic. Drivers couldn't stop to watch because the rigs blocked the cars involved in the accident. Because of the truck drivers, traffic flowed past the accident. Yes but also treatment. Depression is a complex mental health issue, it can be that you're genetically predisposed, it can be that you've too much or too little of certain brain chemicals that is causing faulty mood regulation, it can be situational... it really depends and it needs properly diagnosed and treated.
Sometimes an ear isn't enough, sometimes therapy, meds and changes in lifestyle are required.
I do hope this poor man got the help he so desperately needed because being listened to may have discouraged him to go through with it that one time but without the proper treatment chances are this won't be his only attempt.
Statistically, those who attempted to commit suicide once are 3 times more likely to attempt it again within a year of the first attempt and 38 times more likely to eventually succeed at taking their own lives. It's a scary and heartbreaking statistic.

Suicide And I was the last person she called and I had my cell phone on silent and Never got her call until it was to late I will never forgive myself for her death I should had been there to save her and I did t or couldn’t and it has bee. A hard reality when someone is determine to die they will do anything to go it is a sad truth

But then she could've made a later attempt and not called anyone and died anyway. And when she called you in the call you missed, she might not have told you how bad she was feeling. She might've just talked to you just to hear your voice. I'm so sorry that you lost your friend. Please don't blame yourself for your friend's suicide. It isn't your fault.

I worked in a truck stop for over 6 years and I'm proud to say that almost to a man, any one of them would have done exactly what these guys did. Truckers are one of the most unique, fun, caring, and amusing groups of people I have ever had the honor to be acquainted with. My hat is off to the drivers in the video and all those who keep this great country moving.
I agree 100%. Truckers do heroic things every day in this country and you don't hear about most of them because the trucker doesn't need the kudos. Years ago when I was a young and stupid young woman, I had a tire blowout in an area where there was virtually nothing but road and tumbleweeds. I stuck out my thumb to get a ride and a big rig trucker pulled over. As I was climbing into the cab, I stupidly put my hand on the exhaust pipe by the door that was sizzling hot. It burned my entire hand. The trucker, seeing my injury, not only took me to the next nearest town, but delivered me to the ER at the closest local hospital. The burns were third degree and terribly painful for a long, long time, but my hero trucker had gotten me to the hospital ER in record time. He never asked me for anything. I thanked him and he drove off to wherever he was going to. That is the American way, regardless of what other countries say about us. There are heroic people everywhere here and that will never change.

We need more of this sort of people in this world. I think what everyone’s forgetting is that any of them truck drivers could have driven away at any time to avoid any late deliveries or to get home to their families but they all chose to stay parked under that bridge for 4+ hours until the police talked the man down from the edge of the bridge. Truly amazing 🖤

Unfortunately there are many people with mental illness that want to die. Even with meds, it is very difficult to manage mental illness. For example I'm bipolar. The meds just help with chemical imbalances. Mental health system has not improved by one bit. They need to fix the system or legalize euthanasia

Did he cheat on your mom? Most of them do. I worked as a hotel agent. I'd see them get in line to check in. Some girl would go by and magically their rings came off. My ex did that too. Claimed to lonely and gone too long from me and that it was better for both of us. I stayed faithful. Can't say she did. And with a disgusting hooker. To be fair, the hooker was before I was ever in the picture, but still, nothing said about it until we're planning our wedding. Grossed me out beyond words, so truck drivers aren't high on my list of nice people. Also explains why her diseased ass is an ex. I'm happily married to a better, incredible, beautiful woman. So glad I knew the truth before it was too late.
