Ringo still talks as if he’s the luckiest man in the world. Which he is, I suppose. And he still refers to The Beatles in the third person, as if he still can’t quite believe he was part of them. A wonderful , humble man.

    • @lynnglidewell7367

Each of them always talked about The Beatles in the third person. That's how they stayed normal as individuals was by separating their personal identity from the group. They always said they didn't want to end up like Elvis a prisoner of their own fame. So they kept "The Beatles" as something separate from who they were.

It is nice that he can look back and enjoy what they did, instead of the issues Lennon and McCartney had with it. I believe he understands just how important they were and that it was fun. Of the four, I believe he understood that the fans were who made them not they. Shame we do not have more people in music that can sit there and laugh, enjoy what he did, and willing to share his experiences with laughter.

    • @THE-HammerMan
      @THE-HammerMan 3 роки тому +36

@@Tritnew Read and/or view videos from great drummers, and you'll find out his drumming is FAR from simple. All drummers were fairly simple in the earliest days and Ringo helped break boundaries for the drummers' place in bands. He's never been like, say, a Carl Palmer. But he can and has displayed complex styles as needed. The fact is he does only what's needed and has never desired to do more and be an "up-front" showman.
That said, many many drummers have said his drumming is deceptively "easy", but next to impossible to duplicate half as well. His drumming on the last few Beatles albums was intuitive; complex and perfect for the piece. You want simple drumming, check out the tracks Paul did! Basic as all get out.
If you played drums you would know how uninformed your critique of Ringo is.

It knocks me out that here he is in 2019, making a video for similar regular folks via UA-cam ... and so many years before in provincial Liverpool he'd thought about it and decided, "I'm not gonna' be Richie Starkey on drums. I'm gonna' have a stage name. I'll call myself "Ringo Starr."

3:58 This live performance of Hey Jude is the best, McCartney's intro makes me cry and we're lucky to have it. They stopped performing after this.

D'oh! He stops Penny Lane before the crucial moment - where he has to figure out how to get *off* the horse! Ringo, wherever you are, please come back and do a sequel to whatever this video is! Inquiring minds want to know the inside scoop on the amazing Penny Lane horse dismount! 😀 (For folks who don't know what I'm talking about... watch the full Penny Lane video from about 2:05.)

I still have Beta tape and VCR tape of the Beatles from 1970. I used to play guitar and had a small recording set up. I was close friends with some one from the Ed Sullivan show that did a lot of recording work. One of my favorite songs is ticket to ride. And Ringo was sawing the wood bus up on the set George was giving Ringo the crazy eye look funny and John was screwing around with Paul every time he turned around.

Those Hula Girls were Professional Belly Dancers
      wearing the Hula Costumes,
      instead of their Native Belly
      Dance Costumes.
I had had danced both Belly
and Hula Dancing when I was
younger, so I know what I’m
      talking about.
It would had been better to have Belly Dance Costumes, instead of Hula Dance Costumes on the Belly Dancers in The Beatles
      Hello Goodbye Video.

I remember learning not too long ago that Paul says, “Thanks, Mo” at the end of ‘Get Back.’ A friend of mine when we were kids thought he might’ve been saying, “Don’t smoke.”
