Hey quick question for anyone since i never used Yamper before. Is it when 1 throws like an Master ball(or other), does Yamper's Ball Fetch ability retrieves that same Master Ball you just threw or will it just be regular Pokeball instead!?
Honestly the worst ability IMO is Klutz. Say what you will with Honey Gather and Ball Catch, at least you can use items. And no, I’m not salty that a certain Pokémon that can be a Mega has that ability. No I’m not salty my favorite normal type has that ability.
@@sosams you get it! Klutz is bad for beneficial items sure but like you said, Toxic Orb or Flame Orb Fling or Gift or Switcheroo can really mess up an opponent, so it does have its niche usage
There’s an extremely niche gimmick I thought of involving Klutz: Lopunny can Switcheroo an Assault Vest onto a utility Pokémon, essentially permanently taunting it and dooming it to uselessness (especially if it doesn’t even have damaging moves). This only works because Klutz Lopunny would be able to use Switcheroo (a status move) despite Assault Vest not normally letting it.
There is one thing I can think of that is useful for ball fetch! Apricorn balls! They are pretty rare nowadays and it really hurts if the ball fails so it's nice to get the ball back =)
The real issue is that Boltund for whatever reason doesn’t get it so you can’t use a strong Pokémon when you want to catch something in an Apricorn Ball

Finally someone understands Payback mechanics! Assurance also works if your doubles partner hits before you and then Sableye uses double power Assurance to get the KO.
I think Delcatty's Normalize is a bad ability. Yes, all of your attacks are now STAB but you can't deal supereffective damage and hurt ghost pokemon (and be resisted by steel and rock)
I actually have a normalize delcatty and while yes, you can't hit ghosts. The damage you deal is pretty substantial as everything gives you STAB and normalize increases the power of all your moves as well. Slap a silk scarf on and you basically hit everything like it's super effective. Testing with my delcatty actually showed it can kill or at least heavily damage most mega pokemon before going down with fake out into sucker punch. It also makes thunderwave fun as you have a reliable way to paralyze faster ground types. I run fake out, sucker punch, return and thunderwave on mine (gen 7 as she is stuck until bank becomes free and I can send her to gen 8 to update her moves)

It's so weird that Stall is only on Sableye. You'd think an ability like that would be on a super bulky Pokémon with strong attack that could use punishing moves like Avalanche, Payback, and Revenge.
Okay, I disagree with some of these entries: - Ball Fetch: It is also useful to recover Poke Balls that are rarer to get. So a casual might like this ability. - Slow Start/Truant: Both of these abilities were created to balance Pokemon that are way too strong. If they didn't exist then what happened with Mega Rayquaza would have happened with both Slaking and Regigigas when they were first released. - Illuminate: Incredibly useful when you are either Shiny Hunting or searching for an specific Pokemon.
@@toumabyakuya slow start for one maybe reduce it to 3 turns. 5 turns is crazy long. Truant causing the Pokémon to loaf around every 2 turns instead of every other turn. Just some suggestions
Stall would probably work well with moves like assurance and avalanche since they deal extra damage after being attacked. Problem is from what I saw on Bulbapedia sableye doesn't have any moves like that.

Did you even read the effects of Plus and Minus and Rivalry? Plus and Minus work if both Pokémon have the same OR the opposite ability, meaning it works with Plus and Plus, Plus and Minus, or Minus and Minus. And Rivalry works the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what you said. If the Pokémon have the same gender, it boosts the attack stats. If they have the opposite gender, it lowers the attack stats. You even show the Bulbapedia descriptions on the abilities. How do you miss them?
Personally I think Anticipation one of the worst/useless abilities where it does nothing other than tell the opponent that you’re weak to them. Forewarn is a better anticipation where it actually tells you what it’s worried about. (Also on a side note I was thinking like slaking would make sense to get stall, on a lore and balancing reasons you gotta choose between a truant slaking where it can move fast but it it has to waste turns or be forced to move last every time with stall but it can choose moves consecutively)
@@641mamaluigi The shuddering is triggered by either a super effective move or an ohko move. Forewarn tells you the strongest move, not necessarily if it's super effective.
I wouldn't have put Defeatist, Truant and Slow Start on this. Honourable mention. Since their purpose IS to nerf the pokemon. Gives them a very specific niche.

8:22 he didn't even mention Ghost or Dragon type moves, which are super effective against their own types, meaning if a pokemon uses a Ghost or Dragon type move on Kecleon, it will be super effective with nothing Kecleon being able to do about it.
The worst part about stuff like Defeatist, Slow Start, and Truant, is that the idea of "we made their abilities break their legs because their base stats are so high" is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Just don't make their base stats be so high. They coded the base stats into the game at the same time they coded the terrible abilities, they're literally coming up with terrible solutions to fake problems they're inventing themselves.

@@primarinegaming6761 ikr? Crustle can be so broken if it ran that and the combo of Shell Smash and Rock Wrecker. Similar to Polteageist but with Poltergeist instead with any attached item.
I know this was looked at with more of a competitive stand point but since play through runs were mentioned, I have to defend illuminate & ball fetch. I do agree that illuminate needs more going for it because it is underwhelming but if you do all shiny runs or just a lot of shiny hunting in general, it's a life saver. I actually have two illuminators at the leads of my teams right now, double hunting for a shiny Torkoal through RE, I was getting in encounters while watching. As for ball fetch, it is super handy from not just a shiny hunting standpoint but from breeding as well. Ball Guy is why this is so good, he gives you a 1 per game (if you don't have the DLC) apricorn ball & if you like breeding Pokemon in particular balls, you want a ball fetcher to retrieve the apricorn ball if it fails. This came in handy when I wanted a moon ball Amura to breed. People breeding for competitive or Masuda Method for a shiny or both will sometimes catch Pokemon in those balls to add some flare, sometimes shiny hunters want to get their shiny in like a friend ball or fast ball so they'll toss it only for the Pokemon to break out, sure they lost out on getting the Pokemon in that ball but thanks to Yamper, the ball wasn't a waste.
5:31 ball fetch really isn't useless, it's great for people who want to use rare pokeballs to match a pokemon that has a low catch rate so i wouldn't say useless i would just say underrated due to people not shedding enough light on this ability.
Hi Mystic! I really love your videos. I have an idea for you next content. How about make a list of what would be the most broken pokemon if given a specific ability. For example Garchomp with Moxie or Speed Boost or Slaking with Sheer Force or Intimidate.

Honestly Slaking with ANY ability other than truant would be overpowered. Slaking and Shedinja were introduced in the same generation as abilities to show that a Pokémon wasn't just good or bad because of its stats or typing, but their ability as well. Just like if Shedinja lost Wonder Guard it would be the most fragile thing in existence, so would Slaking become an unstoppable menace if it lost Truant. It would be interesting to see what Mystic has to say about it, though.
Great video! Ball fetch is nice when you're trying to catch pokemon in apricorn balls, since they are such a pain to get. I agree it's obviously not a great ability, but i enjoy that it's very thematic
i know this is a bit random but i feel like victinis ability makes no sense for them since all it does is raise accuracy pretty much instead of idk *raising any stat whatsoever* like come on man its whole thing is that it gives pokemon such a strong boost that something like a weak little tepig can knock out a samurott with a *SINGLE EMBER*
You should start doing honorable/dishonorable entries on the list. You can explain what it was considered for the list and why you omitted. Did you mention emergency exit, or Klutz. I know Klutz can be situationally good, but I always thought it was terrible.
Ball fetch is amazing tho, and it's only on a yamper tho. Nobody is going to go to tournaments with yamper. Ball fetch is a fun ability to help get you ANY pokeballs that fail to catch. The way you think is just only pokeballs but it's all the pokeballs (minus masterball) so it helps if you fail with a rare pokeball that you fail on a mon
Corrections: 10. Plus and Minus got buffed by allow 2 plus or 2 minus Pokémon gaining the boost. It did make having both exist obsolete. 9. Your description of Rivalry is severely incorrect despite the answer being right in front of you. VGC Unova also had a Haxorus with Rivalry destroying the Unova Genies due to being Male. Too bad the player didn’t slap on Attract for the final battle, since the opponent used Female Pokémon to counter the ability. 8. Illuminate is a missed opportunity. But at least beginners in Pokémon can shiny hunt earlier since Arena Trap and No Guard are more rare and harder to realize on what they can do. 7. Rare Pokéballs can be retrieved after failed usage by Ball Fetch. The Friend Ball can instantly evolve a friendship requiring Pokémon, and the safety net is useful when the Cram-o-matic is hard to get Apricorn balls. 6. In Sinnoh where Honey is the most useful (Honey Trees), Honey costs money. Honey Gather is useful for free Honey to save up the Pokéballs needed for rarer Pokémon like shinies, or simply Munchlax or Heracross. Sweet Scent can’t be used in Gen 7, so having Honey from Honey Gather Cutiefly/Ribombee is more vital. 5. Color Change should have changed the type before the attack to allow more resistances (except for Dragon and Ghost types ironically). It is indeed a missed opportunity. 4-2. Archeops, Regigigas, and Slaking all got a great partner in Weezing, as even the Kantonian form got Neutralizing Gas. Easy wins in the Battle Tower. 2 again. Not the Slaking LINE, as 1 Vigoroth had only Vital Spirit and 2 Durant has Truant, who can put the ability to got use with the Entertainment move for Battle Towers. 1. The is three good uses for Stall, Metal Burst (for some reason, it doesn’t have negative priority like Counter or Mirror Coat), Payback, and Lash Out. Sableye does need to be bulkier to pull this off though.

A lot of these are good for shiny hunters, retrieval of failed apriballs throws with ball fetch or using illumine to raise the encounter rates are incredibly uselful for maximizing your time.
I'd kinda like to see a torturelocke where all wild pokemon have randomly one of these bad abilities. Maybe some other bad ones too just to have a least worst option.
I could only think the only good usage for the honey gather ability if you your trying to gather as much honey to sell them in the Pokemarts while also leveling up ones Combee/Cutiefly to have them evolve as such. And Stall I feel should have gone to a Pokemon that's both already slow but has the good set of moves to back it up. I feel like if this ability were to be given to any newer Pokemon in the future, Gamefreak would have to make it viable to use in matches/tournaments.
plus and minus actually also active when two pokémon on the field have plus or minus, it doesn’t just work when one has plus and the other has minus.. not that it makes those abilities any better but still
Idea buff to Ball fetch give it the ability to reflect ball move like shadow ball and energy ball. For stall i give to wabbafet and make also have a taunt like effect at the start of battle and when an opponent switches in
I could see Stall being decent on a Pokémon with a lot of bulk and a lot of countering moves, like Wobbuffet. Guaranteeing that you go last makes it so you always have an attack to counter.
@@haserlitelfl It was a fucking _simile._ I didn't mean literally Wobbuffet. I meant a Pokémon being set up for a similar strat of relying on tanking attacks then dishing out countering moves, which relies on going last.
Congratulations fan! You have been selected among the winners of my ongoing giveaway for always viewing my contents. Reach out the above name 👆👆 to redeem your prize 🎁 immediately!
Stall is not as bad as Truant or slow start. I would rather my Slaking go last than give my opponents free turns. I would rather Regigigas go last than get its attack slashed in half for an eternity. Sableye is pretty slow anyway, so it isn't that crippled by it (in a vacuum), and there are moves that benefit from going last like Payback and Metal Burst, neither of which force you to go last despite benefitting from it and both of which Sableye learns.
Ball fetch should let you pick up items that were knocked off from knock off, or thrown with fling, either at the end of the battle or the following turn
Uh, I would have to argue that color change has its benefits. It is very niche but it can be effective against Juan/Wallace to set up kecleon with. It is also fine during the Liza&Tate fight since it can tank a few hits from CM fireblast as a fire type. It is a great pairing with castform-rain during that battle as it can delay solrock and lunatone.
Fun idea for ball fetch would be that if a held item is lost then ball fetch will allow you to retrieve the item back. Example if a berry is consumed ball fetched will retrieve the berry back. Fun combo would be if it had access to fling to throw an item like razor fang for guaranteed flinch, then ball fetch will get it back for a second guaranteed flinch. Could also work great where if u get knocked off then u get that item back right afterwards
My idea makes less sense, but would be funnier. It can retrieve any ball. Pokeballs, Energy Balls, Shadow Balls, Weather Balls. If it's a ball, this good boy will fetch it. (Functioning like Oricorio's Dancer ability.) Probably would be overpowered, but I still think it would be funny.
Maybe it isn't a bad ability, but I really dislike Hustle - how I could utilize higher attack, if I cannot hit opponent? XD Yes, I've got a veeeery bad luck :) And its "only" 50% boost, when Huge Power doubles attack with no negative drowbacks.
Ball fetch (new in battle ability) - like storm drain but increases speed if a ball move is used. Eg shadow ball, electro ball. Maybe some more abstract things like being able fetch boosts that are targeted at another pokemon. So if they used decorate on their partner your ball fetch pokemon will take the boost instead.
I think Ball Fetch should have the effect of recovering your item once when using Fling, like using a King's Stone to Flinch the opponent and then being able to use it again. Either give it a one time use or multiple uses, would make Yamper just a little bit more unique moveset wise.
For the main parts of the games, there are fewer and fewer battles where you need more than one pokemon out, in SV so far the only time you need to do a double was for the ghost gym.
Honestly, I used a stall Sableye in one of my oras playthrough once. Gave it moves like Pay back that doubled in power when hit, and watched my opponents struggle as sure they hit, but Sableye hit harder
When I first saw the ability name "Ball Fetch" I thought it was going to either be immune to or redirect "ball" moves such as Shadow Ball or Energy Ball. Like any good doggo, Yamper catches the ball and brings it back to the user, right? Imagine my disappointment...
I mostly used to use Gasto Acid on Regigigas in doubles. Sometimes I was able to trade it's ability off on the opposing pokemon. In the end, I felt like gigas wasn't worth the effort to get around its crap.
I'm surprised that Klutz didn't make the list. In hindsight it makes sense that there aren't many competitive Pokémon that even get the ability, but anything carrying Klutz does have potential for a very effective Fling user for Toxic Orb or Flame Orb without the self inflicted damage. But that in itself is very niche and it does have its uses. Still a terrible ability.
Sadly starting in Gen 5 (B/W), they actually nerfed Klutz to make any Pokemon with the ability unable to use Fling. It can still have uses with moves that swap items with the target like Switcheroo, though.
new purely useless ability: floating +makes pokemon immune to ground type move because they're floating -only flying type pokemon can have this ability -this ability can't be moved to another pokemon -it also drop the pokemon's atk and special attack by 1
I don't think illuminate necessarily has to be competitive to be good. What if it also increased odds for rare encounters and/or shiny Pokémon? This would help people looking for rare Pokémon like Bagon or Feebas and be a boon for shiny hunters since we'd have yet another way to increase odds of finding wild shinies.
One of my least favorite abilities would probably be Hustle. If you have a pokemon with a largely-physical movepool, have fun only getting in stronger hits at what feels like 50% of the time. Wimp Out and Emergency Exit aren't much better, both effectively being a gun-jump version of Run Away.
I found out stall the hard way on pokemon X running a sabeleye, I was able to run it since gen 6 being easy. Eventually i found a way to change his abillity with a skillswap you can optain in the battlemansion.
I have an idea for ball fetch in competitive maybe if the ability bearer uses a move that makes contact it could cause it to have to switch out as if they're fetching it's ball
Illuminate I personally would think would make opponents moves less likely to hit, instead of making your own more accurate.. since.. lots of moves that do lower accuracy, like Flash.. are blasting a blinding light into the opponent, but this would be a full ability instead of just a move you can shake off.. or it works like Intimidate where it can be shaken off by switching and whatnot Ball Fetch.. I can't think of a competitive way to buff it but a more general idea is make it like a ball exclusive Pickup.. like early levels you can just.. find random Poke Balls and Great Balls, later is Great and Ultra, and maybe high levels start getting random rarer/niche balls like Dusk, Dive, etc. maybe it could even give you balls that are ultra rare.. like all the balls Ball Guy gives out.. which is.. 1.. of each.. no way to get more.. Honey Gather in the Gen 6 games at least could have some use since Honey forces a Horde Battle.. which was more useful and the Sinnoh Honey tree since.. you get immediate results instead of "lol wait" I feel like it was unfair to put some of these abilities on here, like sure Defeatist, Slow Start, and Truant are bad in a vacuum but the context of nerfing strong mons is what makes them alright.. kinda.. only way Truant bad is on Durant.. since it isn't an incredibly strong mon that needs a nerf.. I have an idea of how to make a useless ability, you know how some abilities have uses in and out of battle? What if one.. ONLY had a use OUTSIDE of battle?
I honestly expected Klutz to be here I actually have a shiny Gulurk with Klutz, and I found out he can utilize Trick (this is in Sword, don't worry, I tested it because GameFreak messed with Fling on Klutz Pokemon, but they DIDN'T screw up Trick on Klutz Pokemon)
I think you explained Rivalry the wrong way around. Pretty sure it boosts your ATK against Pokémon of the same gender, and lowers it against Pokémon of the opposite gender.
If you play it well truant isn't a bad ability. Durant can use the move entrainment which changes it's opponent to it's type. If you use this move you can switch out your pokemon with shadow tag who has protect the opp can't do nothing so basically you can up your stats without having to worry about your pokemon fainting.
Speaking of abilities seen as bad, I hear a lot of complaints on Emergency Exit. I personally like it and pair my Golisopods with sitrus berries and get a free switch in from it and get to reuse First Impression later on on a still pretty healthy Golisopod xD
I am really surprised you didn't include Synchronize. It is worthless 90% of the time. It can't pass back sleep or infatuated. Poison, paralyze, and burn are inflicted by pokemon that are immune to those effects 90% of the time making them useless.
It’d be funny if ball fetch had synergy with ball moves. After all electro ball and Yamper are both electric type, something more could’ve been there perhaps?
How I'd approve these abilities and why: #10 Imagine though if Plus & Minus also increases Speed if paired with two *Plus's* and Sp.Def if pairing both *Minus's* instead of only boosting Sp.Atk. #9 Same gender, Not opposite! Also there should be an opposing ability that can do the opposite and can be deadly paired with Attract, I'd call it *Domineer* #8 I'd have it reduce the opponents accuracy by 10% since giving off illuminating light could potentially blind your foe. #7 Give the user Priority over Pokemon using moves with "Ball" in it's name, and something like Defense Curl or Rollout which makes the Pokemon take a sphere like stance. #6 Make it work like *Storm Drain* but for Bug Type attacks, since farming honey would make that Pokemon covered in the scent which would attract the attention of those Bug Pokemon first. #4 I'd rather it be removed completely, but at Least let it only work when it the Red, NOT HALF! #3 Should've just been it's SPD stat! Also how F**king hypocritical is it that they Crippled Archeops & Regigigas with these abilities only to later create broken mechanics like Mega Evolution!!!?
You got Rivalry backwards. The attack stats increase against the same gender, and drop against opposite gender. Other than that, you are correct that Rivalry is just luck-based.

Well it's a bad pokemon
Reverse Battles would be very one sided
Honestly my favourite thing about these abilities is that when you play a randomiser some of them become op, it's great fun

It's so weird that Stall is only on Sableye. You'd think an ability like that would be on a super bulky Pokémon with strong attack that could use punishing moves like Avalanche, Payback, and Revenge.
Okay, I disagree with some of these entries:
- Ball Fetch: It is also useful to recover Poke Balls that are rarer to get.
The thing slow start and truant overdid it
@@zinniaq3020 And what would you have done to balance them?.
@@toumabyakuya slow start for one maybe reduce it to 3 turns. 5 turns is crazy long. Truant causing the Pokémon to loaf around every 2 turns instead of every other turn. Just some suggestions
@@zinniaq3020 - Slow Start: Okay, I buy it.
- Truant: I don't. 1 turn of nothing every 2 turn would still let Slaking rampage a lot and be too broken.
@@toumabyakuya Slaking is unusable in competitive. I'm sure we can find a deal
Stall would probably work well with moves like assurance and avalanche since they deal extra damage after being attacked. Problem is from what I saw on Bulbapedia sableye doesn't have any moves like that.
Assurance does more damage to the target after the target has already taken damage think like slapping a fresh wound
You mean, Payback instead of Assurance?
As a clone of Revenge, Avalanche has negative priority, so Stall is unnecessary with that move.

Maybe he did it on purpose for a comment like yours so it gets more oomf for the algorithm. He played you bro
Ball Fetch is amazing for trying to catch Pokémon in extremely rare apricorn balls
The opponent probably already knows you're weak to them. It lets you know if it's carrying a move you're weak to if you don't expect it.
@@kbowman772 see, that’s kinda the thing anticipation doesn’t, it just says it shudders where forewarn actually tells you what it’s worried about
@@641mamaluigi The shuddering is triggered by either a super effective move or an ohko move. Forewarn tells you the strongest move, not necessarily if it's super effective.
I wouldn't have put Defeatist, Truant and Slow Start on this. Honourable mention. Since their purpose IS to nerf the pokemon. Gives them a very specific niche.
It’s still a bad ability for a Pokémon to have.

I would think Slow Start is much worst than Truant since it halves the Pokemon's abilty atk stats!
@@akilcharles3473 and the effect doesn't go even after u swap ability unlike truant
All these existed when they wanted to balance.
Then they decided on Intrepid Sword Zacian.
8:22 he didn't even mention Ghost or Dragon type moves, which are super effective against their own types, meaning if a pokemon uses a Ghost or Dragon type move on Kecleon, it will be super effective with nothing Kecleon being able to do about it.
The only thing I've ever seen Ball fetch get used for, were videos that tested if it works with a Master ball. It does.
I can understand the concept of ball fetch. As soon as you said "has the chance of getting a PokeBall back that was used...", My immediate thought was only one scenario. Lvl 80 against legendaries.
Gamefreak: Gave Regigigas, Archeops, and Slaking hindering abilities to “balance” the game.
Also Gamefreak: Made Zacian.
Let's not mention Mega Rayquaza. Being able to mega evolve without a mega stone and able to hold something else is definitely not busted.

Box legendaries are meant to be unbalanced.
I feel like ball fetch would be really cool if it had a second effect of any ball attack done by an opponent will switch its target to the pokemon who’s ability is ball fetch. Or if a Pokémon with the ability ball fetch is hit with a ball attack it can return the attack back to the opponent for half the damage taken.

I can name a few that have never helped in battle: Weak Armor, Wimp Out/Emergency Exit, Klutz and Normalize.
Emergency exit has one upside
It allows golisapod to use first impression twice......thats about it
Weak armor has never helped?
@@primarinegaming6761 ikr? Crustle can be so broken if it ran that and the combo of Shell Smash and Rock Wrecker. Similar to Polteageist but with Poltergeist instead with any attached item.
I was thinking Weak Armor, but I could see its use on a sweeper that survives one attack.
Ball fetch can actually be pretty usful if you wanna catch a pokemon in an apricorn ball without the risk of wasting the ball
Good video but the rivalry was reversed I think😅
Yeah I was about to say the same
5:31 ball fetch really isn't useless, it's great for people who want to use rare pokeballs to match a pokemon that has a low catch rate so i wouldn't say useless i would just say underrated due to people not shedding enough light on this ability.

Can’t you just reload your save if a Pokémon breaks out of an apricorn ball?
i know this is a bit random but i feel like victinis ability makes no sense for them since all it does is raise accuracy pretty much instead of idk *raising any stat whatsoever* like come on man its whole thing is that it gives pokemon such a strong boost that something like a weak little tepig can knock out a samurott with a *SINGLE EMBER*
Corrections:
Hold It! Truant is not exclusive to the slaking line. Durant can also have it
Hopefully, we get a completion to the best team no restrictions series with HGSS, B2W2, USUM and Let's Go.

A lot of these are good for shiny hunters, retrieval of failed apriballs throws with ball fetch or using illumine to raise the encounter rates are incredibly uselful for maximizing your time.
He literally said the opposite meaning for rivalry

True but the point still applies and it still sucks
@@thornelson1411 yeah I am not denying that bruh but just a small correction
Nothing much
Would be cool if Ball Fetch could retrieve Yamper's lost items or the opponent's lost item.
I'd kinda like to see a torturelocke where all wild pokemon have randomly one of these bad abilities. Maybe some other bad ones too just to have a least worst option.
Plus and Minus were changed to boost if the Pokemon had Plus or Minus. Two Plus ability Pokemon and Two Minus ability Pokemon can also get the boost.
Durant having truant is unbelievable. Made me wanna put my fist through the tv.
Yeah it makes no sense like aren't ants really hard workers
plus and minus actually also active when two pokémon on the field have plus or minus, it doesn’t just work when one has plus and the other has minus.. not that it makes those abilities any better but still
You don’t need to match a plus and a minus any more. You can have two plus or two minus as well it was changed in later generations.
Idea buff to Ball fetch give it the ability to reflect ball move like shadow ball and energy ball.
For stall i give to wabbafet and make also have a taunt like effect at the start of battle and when an opponent switches in
Here's a way to fix Stall: have it be affected by trick room. That way sableye will have maximum priority
I could see Stall being decent on a Pokémon with a lot of bulk and a lot of countering moves, like Wobbuffet. Guaranteeing that you go last makes it so you always have an attack to counter.
Wobbuffet is already rather slow, and you would lose the Shadow Tag for the near-guaranteed revenge Destiny Bond KO.
Stall on Wobbuffet is not a good take bruv
@@haserlitelfl
It was a fucking _simile._ I didn't mean literally Wobbuffet. I meant a Pokémon being set up for a similar strat of relying on tanking attacks then dishing out countering moves, which relies on going last.
Can Plus/Minus work if the opponent has a Pokémon that also has Plus/Minus? I thought that worked even in single battles.
I always used intimidated luxray not a rivalry luxray.

Imagine if instead of plus and minus giving a Sp.Atk boost it gave both Plus and Minus Pokemon the magnet rise ability (so an immunity to Ground)
*distribution, not distributement. The latter is not even a word
4:12 here to say Illuminate got changed as of scarlet and violet now it’s just a keen eye clone
Which is really good
Honey can be useful in Nuzlockes as well enter the first square of grass/cave/surfing water, use honey get encounter and then leave to heal if need be
I use coffargrigus and archeops in double and use a small physical ding to change defeatist to mummy
Maybe it isn't a bad ability, but I really dislike Hustle - how I could utilize higher attack, if I cannot hit opponent? XD Yes, I've got a veeeery bad luck :) And its "only" 50% boost, when Huge Power doubles attack with no negative drowbacks.
It is definitely more useful on some Pokemon than others and you always give a mon with Hustle a wide lens to make up for the accuracy drop.
@@nevenpatrk9661 Either the lens or Hone Claws to fix the accuracy drop and also get a boost in attack. It sucks Durant can't get that any more
Ball fetch (new in battle ability) - like storm drain but increases speed if a ball move is used.
Shout out to levitate on the flying type rotom.
For the main parts of the games, there are fewer and fewer battles where you need more than one pokemon out, in SV so far the only time you need to do a double was for the ghost gym.
Was kinda surprised to not see Klutz on here
Honestly, I used a stall Sableye in one of my oras playthrough once. Gave it moves like Pay back that doubled in power when hit, and watched my opponents struggle as sure they hit, but Sableye hit harder
I´m really surprised Klutz isn´t here.
Honestly, as soon as we all saw this video, you either thought "Regigigas" or "Archeops"
I am surprized that emergency exit wasn't on here
The fix for Stall is quite obvious: Make it so that the user's Defenses are doubled while waiting to attack, as well as be immune to flinching.
Just because an ability doesn’t have a competitive use doesn’t mean it’s bad. With that being said, honey gather is bad everywhere except sinnoh
It can still have uses with moves that swap items with the target like Switcheroo, though.
new purely useless ability:
floating
+makes pokemon immune to ground type move because they're floating
-only flying type pokemon can have this ability
-this ability can't be moved to another pokemon
-it also drop the pokemon's atk and special attack by 1
I don't think illuminate necessarily has to be competitive to be good.
Wimp Out and Emergency Exit aren't much better, both effectively being a gun-jump version of Run Away.
im surprised normalize wasnt on this list. turnong all moves into normal type moves… which 2 types resist and one type is immune to…
I found out stall the hard way on pokemon X running a sabeleye, I was able to run it since gen 6 being easy. Eventually i found a way to change his abillity with a skillswap you can optain in the battlemansion.
I have an idea for ball fetch in competitive maybe if the ability bearer uses a move that makes contact it could cause it to have to switch out as if they're fetching it's ball
Ball fetch can be used to get back PokeBalls that are a 1 time obtained or just really rare like the heavy ball if it fails to catch
For ball fetch, it can actually be of use if you want to use one of the rare pokeballs like the safari ball.
I've always believed that Truant was a perfectly acceptable balance to Slaking because it is such a crazy Pokémon.
My scam repel must have worn off
It would be cool if defeatist made your attack higher at first but lower once you get to 50% hp
Illuminate I personally would think would make opponents moves less likely to hit, instead of making your own more accurate.. since.. lots of moves that do lower accuracy, like Flash.. are blasting a blinding light into the opponent, but this would be a full ability instead of just a move you can shake off.. or it works like Intimidate where it can be shaken off by switching and whatnot
Ball Fetch..
Honey Gather in the Gen 6 games at least could have some use since Honey forces a Horde Battle.. which was more useful and the Sinnoh Honey tree since.. you get immediate results instead of "lol wait"
I feel like it was unfair to put some of these abilities on here, like sure Defeatist, Slow Start, and Truant are bad in a vacuum but the context of nerfing strong mons is what makes them alright.. kinda.. only way Truant bad is on Durant.. since it isn't an incredibly strong mon that needs a nerf..
I have an idea of how to make a useless ability, you know how some abilities have uses in and out of battle? What if one.. ONLY had a use OUTSIDE of battle?
I'd have trynat lower on this list, because of the Drurant skill swap technique
I honestly expected Klutz to be here
I actually have a shiny Gulurk with Klutz, and I found out he can utilize Trick (this is in Sword, don't worry, I tested it because GameFreak messed with Fling on Klutz Pokemon, but they DIDN'T screw up Trick on Klutz Pokemon)
Honey used to make hordes in gen6 right? It was at least useful then XD
In Pokemon Rowe (an open-world Emerald hack), Illuminate raises the special attack in the first turn of the battle. So basically it becomes Download
I'm surprised that klutz isn't on the list
MysticUmbreon: Said truant is exclusive to the slaking line
vigoroth: what
It’d be funny if ball fetch had synergy with ball moves. After all electro ball and Yamper are both electric type, something more could’ve been there perhaps?
I mean, there are strats that can take advantage of slow speed to hit massively hard. Stall almost doesn't even deserve to be on this list
How I'd approve these abilities and why:
#10 Imagine though if Plus & Minus also increases Speed if paired with two *Plus's* and Sp.Def if pairing both *Minus's* instead of only boosting Sp.Atk.
#9 Same gender, Not opposite! Also there should be an opposing ability that can do the opposite and can be deadly paired with Attract, I'd call it *Domineer*
#8 I'd have it reduce the opponents accuracy by 10% since giving off illuminating light could potentially blind your foe.
