What’s Up With That Peloton Commercial?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 гру 2019
- It’s the commercial that launched 1,000 memes. Exercise bike maker Peleton released a holiday commercial showing a husband gifting his thin wife with the bicycle. The internet has reacted swiftly and they are not happy with the mesaage they say the ad implies. “Message received: Ladies, exercise harder/be thinner for your man and then thank him for it,” one user wrote. Perhaps the most popular parody is from a comedian who decides a divorce is the perfect response to the present. #InsideEdition

Exactly. The commercial is innocent. People like to exercise. Just go to a local gym and it’s usually packed with people of all types. A work out makes a person feel better afterwards. Whoever is criticizing this commercial needs to get a life!
Apparently! It's weird - this doesn't mention a damn thing about weight. It could be her husband getting her a bike for a thousand reasons beyond weight. She's trying to get fitter (something exclusive from weight!), she's wanting to practice better biking form where she can correct herself and not run off a bridge and die if she looks down, establish better habits... jeez!
So if a woman was to buy her man tools shouldn't that be sexist too ?

The fact that an already in shape woman praises her Peloton a year later for the change it creates in her is a brilliant stroke on Peloton’s part because exercise is not about weight loss but better quality of life- something that people of all body types benefit from.

magnetothewhite Just calling it like I see it. They should have written the ad differently if they wanted better feedback. There's nothing inspiring about seeing a beautiful already thin woman get unnoticabely thinner after a year on a bike.
Maybe she enjoys working out, and already goes to the gym, so instead of going to the gym all the time her husband just bought her that.
Or she's a former cyclist in rehabilitation and it's been years and she's finally overcoming that fear of getting back on a bike.
All we need is music from UP...no talking ....back story of injury use bike for therapy ....make people cry 😭...let's be consultants for these commercials
The whole “OMG her husband is terrible for getting her an exercise bike when she is already skinny” is such a huge reach. Skinny people can still benefit from cardio. I’m 99lbs and I get out of breath so easy, I definitely could benefit from cardio and I wouldn’t be offended if I was gifted this machine.
For me, the issue is the acting. It’s like the actress is being held hostage and the only way for her to escape is if she did this commercial.
