Wow what an atmospheric adventure, the landscape was most certainly bleak, yet the change in cloudy blue skies changed the mood. Loved the music. Thankyou for sharing!
Walked up there from coniston dib last year, camped outside a shooting lodge next to the stream on the way up. Definitely bleak up at the remote spot! Great video
Nice vid, the thought of dark from 4 ish has put me off winter camping!, i like the isolation but being stuck in the tent?.... lovely drone stuff and your tent is a tardis!!
Thank you! I just made sure I kept eating and that seems to pass the time until I fell asleep but it’s along shift in winter! The extra room in the tent makes a big difference when you’re stuck in it!
I've just noticed your channel and the first is where I'd been with friends a couple of weeks ago. I will be going back. Weather was hard work. Subbed.
Good. That ruin at 7;08 looked like the top of a a spiral staircase to Orc infested tunnels. But, I wonder what actually the most remote spot in England is?
Yes it was definitely atmospheric! I’ve been given a grid reference which also had this claim to fame and it’s somewhere near kielder water. I will certainly be checking it out. Another viewer swears that it’s actually in the forest of Bowland so I’ll be heading there too!
Thanks Jon - it’s only when you leave the 4x4 track that it begins to feel isolated. I’ve certainly felt more remote in other places but I guess it’s ’remoteness’ is in a physical sense and not something experienced or imagined! (Wow that’s deep) HNY to you too.
@@cragratoutdoors I’d agree. I’ve spent time in that area and it’s really lovely, but I can’t say I felt that far from civilisation. I’ve felt far isolated on mountain peaks in the Lakes such as the summit of Pillar.
I’ve come from the other side on this one, parked at Lofthouse, you should be able to find it in my videos, it’s very remote, but as you say you get it to yourself, so worth the walk in. I’ll sub your channel now, all the best Tito The Troddler 👍
Thanks mate👍🏻- I think I chose the easier option with a decent track most of the way- I suspect coming in from loft house it’s a bit boggier. I’ll check out your video for sure
I enjoyed your video very much, but you only have to take a quick look at a Road Atlas planing map to see that the most isolated place in England is not in Yorkshire but in fact in Lancashire. I cannot off the top of my head tell you the exact locations which is furtherest from road or dwelling but it is somewhere in the Forest of Bowland.
My first wild camp, ca 7 years ago took me to near to that spot which is 6 miles from the nearest road or inhabited building! See westonfront.wordpress.com/2017/03/19/bedraggled-in-bowland-a-micro-adventure/
Thank you! Thanks for sharing your blog too. I’ve had to have a quick look at the map and it would seem somewhere about mallowdale and wolfhole crag looks fairly remote! - there’s only one thing for it now, another trip out!
Nice little film there. Stunning scenery. Reference your cold feet, have you tried Marino wool socks? I have a pair for wild camping bed socks and they keep my feet toasty warm even without down booties. Secondly reference the boggy ground, I invested in Seal skin socks, they were a game changer! They keep your feet bone dry. 😊
Thank you! Yeah I think I need to up my sock game! I was given a pair of seal skinz many years ago by a mate who wore them for riding his motorbike but I guess they weren’t the walking variety and they were as uncomfortable as hell. Need to revisit this I think!
Just had a Quick Look at the map and it’s definitely a contender! I will get to Dartmoor at some point soon- can this bit be accessed easily or is it within the army ranges?
Hi there, been subbed a bit but I think my first watch and what a beautiful part of the Dales. I’ve had many holidays in Wharfdale and have walked the route you took but I don’t think that room was open then at the cabin so that’s interesting to know. That little stone shelter is interesting. Anyway I wish you good luck in your new job and plenty of great adventures for 2024. 🏕️👍
Thanks dave - same to you! I knew there was a lodge but the room was a bonus. Door doesn’t shut so well so wouldn’t be ideal for anything more than a brief visit!
@@cragratoutdoors you had to be with the name👍 I'm from Knaresborough,,, into mountain biking and the odd wild camp,, specially up nidderdale,, Cheers pal,, I'll check your other videos out,
Beautiful spot but why promote it on YT, if you love and care about nature, or is it an ego thing really. Think that leave no trace should mean leave no trace, including digitally.
Fair point - I doubt my small coverage will make much difference. I think what I’m trying to do is demonstrate that there are other places other than the honey pots which are in danger of being overwhelmed. What I’ve found is the most remote places have tended to lack the drama of bigger peaks and because they are boggy, bleak and difficult to get to they won’t get much footfall anyway. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

Absolutely Beautiful!!....i enjoyed watching that 👍
Thank you! Much appreciated 👍🏻

Thank you! I did consider camping by the stream but in the end I got bit closer but definitely too boggy on the top!
What a spot! Best wishes with the new job😊
Thanks Fraser. So far so good!
Really enjoyed that. For a small island it’s great that you can find a bit of solitude in such stunning landscapes. Keep up the great work mate
Thanks Ian - really appreciate your support 👍🏻
New subsciber. Wonderful scenery in that part of the stunning Yorkshire countryside. All the best.
Tha is for subscribing and taking the time to comment on both videos. Glad you enjoyed them- Yorkshire takes some beating!
Fantastic jason mate 👏
Cheers Carl - means a lot 🙏🏻👍🏻
Nice video. Enjoy the drone views. Thanks very much, and yes, feet do get cold. Electric socks are another idea
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. Embarrassingly I didn’t know electric socks were a thing! This is something I will look at for my winter camps.👍🏻

Thanks for subscribing Mark. Yorkshire can be great but the weather can be cruel. If you go up to Riggs Moor take some waders!😉
Great views , and nice work with your video , greetings from a swedish camper 🌲

Indeed! The western lakes and ennerdale seem far from anywhere!
Reet enjoyed this on my first visit to your channel. Subscribed and looking forward to more. Excellent!

Nice one mate, boggy as expected but what a place 👍
Cheers mate - hellish boggy for sure!
Great Video and always informative, and what a beautiful area of the Dales. thanks for posting and looking forward to the next one.

The most remote place in England: Cut Hill, Dartmoor.
Just had a Quick Look at the map and it’s definitely a contender! I will get to Dartmoor at some point soon- can this bit be accessed easily or is it within the army ranges?
Don't always need the views, I'd always need the silence. Thx
Nice thought. I’ll take that with me on my next walk 👍🏻
For cold feet I take a 600 ml hot water bottle.
I think I need to get one before winter bites again!

How can a remote spot be 600 yard’s from a road.
I think it means a local access road not just a landrover track used by estate vehicles
