- Here I present you with a list of Vintage watches which you can collect and the famous and infamous people who wore them. These famous people range from Che Guevara to Martin Luther King, both of whom incidentaly loved wearing Rolex watches. Che Guevara was fond of the Rolex GMT and Dr Martin Luther King was partial to wearing the Rolex Datejust. A watch doesn't have to be expensive to be famous or infamous. One infamous watch wearer was Osama Bin Laden, and his watch of choice was the Casio F91W. Watch this video of vintage watches for the full countdown.

Don’t laugh, but it’s the Swatch that kept the Swiss watchmaking industry in business.
Spot on with this list, Thanks for posting : )
Forgot the Paul Newman daytona
Sean Connery wore the submariner, the character James Bond it is thought wore the Explorer from the Fleming novels. Fleming only wore an Explorer and described it in the first book without naming the model.
Thanks for sharing your watch collections. You did a great job by getting your 1601 keep the good job btw I think your channel is one of the best 3 on you tube!!!
Very interesting and informative video. Thanks.
Thanks Mark
Great fun and interesting-thx!
Great sharing. Thanks
Fred Flintstone had a fantastic sense of fashion and had a stone sundial dive watch with unlimited test depth....been searching for one on eBay!
lol
There are sundial wrist watches on ebay!! I have looked and found them lol!
GREAT VIDEO!!!!!
Informative
Very nice vid. Keep it up
Thank you!
Very interesting. Thanks for upload (no Seamaster?)
wonderful video (although background music was a bit intrusive)! I'm sure many would enjoy a part two
You used a picture of an Oyster Quartz as the first Datejust photo. But the second photo of the 1601 was more appropriate
The problem with loving watches is wanting to wear like 3 at once lol
well Maradona wore 4 at one so I think that you're fine
Awesome.
8:00 - "OK, if Speedmaster is Number 2, then Submariner will be Number 1..."
8:38 - "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!!"
8:47 - "Oh OK, he was kidding... Good one."
i agree with number 1. my uncle still has the Casio he purchased in 1980. And its still going strong
Leonid Brezhnev had a 1973 Hamilton QED Pulsimatic... one of the first ever LED watches. Not sure where he got it.
LBJ's Rolex DayDate is how that model came to be called the "Presidential."
I believe I read the current Pope wears a Seiko digital watch.
I think it says something about your values if you're complaining about the inclusion of Che Guevara when Osama Bin Laden is on this list.
A agree this guy has strange heros
Great list, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is also a great example of a watch made great by Lloyd Bridges.
I like the Che Guevara GMT Master, the James Bond Submariner, the Matin Luther King Rolex DJ, seiko space watch, Miles Davis Breitling and the Steve McQueen Tag Heuer Monaco. missing from your list the Paul Newman Daytona, the Elvis Omega and Bao Dai Rolex.
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment. I love Newman's Daytona and the Bao Dai Rolex. Elvis's Omega is also important as you suggested, but I went with the Hamilton as it was so unusual, and was a step forward as it was one of the first battery powered watches. It's a win/win for everyone who loves watches!
Notice most of the characters spoken about are Americans? I guess The British Globalists only have Stephen Hawkins and Darwin to talk about....lol
Good vid- Casio a classic- can’t beat it for quality
Thanks. Yep, I guess that Casio are kind of a no messing about watch brand.
Jaques Cousteau and his Blancpain. That watch got quite alot of tv time back when I was a kid.
Oh wow, he was certainly an adventurer. Thanks for the tip
I recall that in Fleming’s original James Bond novels, The watch of choice was Omega. Also, interestingly his motor vehicles in the early days were Bentleys.
Fleming had always rabidly championed Rolex. His literary character wore nothing but.
It was since the Pierce Brosnan era of the James Bond films where the character started formally associating himself with Omega wristwatches.
A "True Pogue" Seiko 6139-6005 with ALL identical dial text/symbols as Col Pogue's watch, in good condition, now runs around $1500 USD
Wow, what an increase. I lost out on a bid a couple of years ago for one in great condition. It eventually sold for only £350...
Cool video
Thanks for watching Eduardo.
Bieber....swatch...you hade me for a minute
Great Top 10 whether everyone agrees or not. It is only right that the Submariner be #1. I was hoping it would be the 14060M No-date, two line model, but glad to see it at #1. Great Job Vintage Watch Collector!
The most iconic Sub is not the 14060 but the 6538 big crown and the 5513 no date two liners
"I use Casio as a daily driver. It is so precise, honestly it's the bomb 5/5" Osama
Any special stories about Vostok watches as I'm a major fan 🐈
Great list. Although another one I would include is the Casio CA53W-1 as worn by Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future and Family Ties, also worn by Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad, by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, and numerous others. Still as great list, though.
That's a great retro-futuristic watch from Casio. In fact, I love Casio as a brand. Thanks for the suggestion.
Could you have found lower res photos of the submariner you plank?
I thought that was pretty funny, made me laugh out loud!
Impressed by the color scheme of Che 's Rolex gmt master, I looked it up. There is a print ad from Rolex with the exact same picture you use, identifying him as relying on and using a submariner, not a gmt. What's your source?
Ive got Tag Heur Monaco gulf calibre 11. It was a 40th birthday gift from my grandad.
What a great present to receive.
Keanu Reeve's in John Wick movie has a swiss watch Carl F Bucherer "Manero Autodate" $3,500
I wonder if Buzz Aldrin still has his speedy, That some good provenance.
killamist666 Unfortunately not, it was stolen.
Thought for sure I would see the Seiko 6105 dive watch, as worn by Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now... one of the more iconic watches in 'action' moviedom of that era, and highly collectible now.
How about the Helbros Invincible?? Although not worn by any celebrities that I know of, the Helbros Invincible is an absolute work horse of time piece with Swiss and German hand crafted assembly from precision components. I still have my father’s purchased in 1961. It still winds and runs like a new time piece. 👍
I'm ashamed to admit that I'd never heard of Helbros Invincible until now. I always appreciate it when someone points out a 'forgotten' brand. Glad to hear that your father's watch is still going strong. I guess that's the power of mechanical watches as something to be savoured and passed on.
I wear a Vintage 1976 Rolex DRSD
I wear a 1992 Rolex Pepsi GMT. I bought it brand new for $1600 and still have it.
ChefPelle i bought a brand new meters first sans serif Submariner 5513 for $275 / still have it and all materials it came with.
Yeah, I wouldn’t say that Ventura design “evolved”.
More like devolved into a hideous object of contemporary sadness.
yeah I agree. It looked cool and futuristic when it first came out, but it looks like a bloated beast now.
I have an old wrist watch. It was one of around 2000 produced by the Swiss company Tavannes from 1915 to the end of 1918. It's called a Submarine and this is due to how it came about. In 1915, 2 British submarine commanders walked into an Edinburgh jeweller and enquired about a wrist watch that could be used inside and on the deck of a submarine. It would need to be anti-magnetic for use inside and waterproof for use on deck. The jeweller made enquiries with the company he was an import agent for, Tavannes, and the watch was created. It was advertised as the world's first waterproof wrist watch. It was expensive back then and not many people had a need for such a watch, so it's forgotten in history. Anyhow, 10 years later Rolex brought out the Oyster. My watch keeps good time for a 102 year old timepiece, gains around 3 minutes over 24 hours and it's black face with white numerals and (radium) hands with onion crown on it's solid silver screw back (with gaskets) case look just as they should. A specialist told me that of all WW1 watches that were made probably less than 5% are still working today, so I suspect my watch is a little bit rarer than the avearge Rolex
David, that's a wonderful story. Is your watch, the one with the sub dial at the 6 o'clock position? I can see that the design DNA of modern dive watches goes back to that watch.
@@wristaction Yes, you can see the actual watch with it's new strap on David Boettcher's vintage watch strap site www.vintagewatchstraps.com/customers.php
Che Guevara was indeed a doctor but so was Harold Shipman.
Hello, do you know the watches any of the Beatles wore? Pretty interested in finding out. Preferably Lennon or McCartney
Not too sure about all of them but I know that Lennon wore a Patek Philippe 2499 which he received for his 40th birthday, and is an absolutely wonderful watch.
Have a "circle of hope" Seiko chrono with the blue dial. Love the case. I call it the Seiko Pepsi, lol.
Thanks for the video and comment
2:13 this one was also used in bb, gift from pinkman to walter
Those 2 watches side-by-side in the "Ventura" section are actually "Pacers", gold-filled cousin to the "Ventura".
Ok- I did find not only a celebrity that wore a Helbros Invincible watch, but also worn in an all time classic movie. Doc Brown wore a Helbros Invincible in the classic movie,”Back to the Future”. Considering this movie is based on the concept of time itself, I would say that is a genuine tribute to the “Helbros Invincible”👍😎
If I had a quarter for every pixel of resolution in this video I'd have 25 cents.
Muy buen recuento
gracias Edwin!
Excellent video, the Casio F91 was also worn by many other famous people including Obama.
And I would have included the Paul Newman Daytona, the Bulova that was on the moon....
I recently found a collection of vintage watches some work some don't some maybe.i would provide pictures or videos if you are willing to tell me if the are valuable or if you're interested in buying them
I was under the impression that Che’s watch was a Sub, while Fidel’s was a GMT.
He had both.
The first Watch in space was a Russian raketa worn by uri gagary ( murdered that spelling) the first man in space
Gagarin
It was a Sturmanskie
I've got a Raketa that commemorates the Baltic Fleet, described as used but is near mint. Bought on ebay from Ukraine, gains 10 secs a day.
damn
Jurij Gagarin
7:55, false statement. Datejust II are 41mm. Datejust are still 36 or 38 mm. (can't remember which)
And Omega Seamaster too used in James Bond films!
yeah especially daniel craig, ive got my 1968 seamaster on right now
The pepsi gmt will always be by favorite
Cool
Jacques Cousteau was a famous user of the Submariner from the start (1953). It it said that Hans Wilendorf gave it to him himself.
The first watch in space was worn by the cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and it was an ussr army watch
its a list tro try to collect them all, not impossible if you can go for 'Close to ' models
the first date just you showed, was actually an Oyster-Quartz
Osama and I used to wear the same watch. Great 😂
5:04. What do you mean by 2mm case? That’s 1/15 of an inch.
I know Felix Rodriguez he is friend here in Miami, Florida. I have seen the watch and tried it on.
Woah. Benny, this is gold. Would you be able to get more information about the watch and some photos the next time you see Felix? The watch community would love to find out and know more. My email is Vintage.watchcollector@hotmail.com
7:21, counterfeit Rolex. The real ones said 'Oysterquartz' and had a cyclops that was much stronger. The crown also looks wrong.
Good spotting!
What the heck is going on with the Sinn at 6:20?
sanjursan t
you missed out two very important watches.....The Paul Newman Rolex Daytona.....and the Rolex Submariner with Nato style strap as worn by James Bond ( Sean Connery)
Rolex Submariner, the iconic watch of all time, I agree. All time classic.
Eric Clapton's Patek Philippe 2499
The Wand chooses the Wizard, I mean the Watch!
What was the 1st man in Space wearing??...
I like the video but the music in the back is horrible.
Walter White wore a Heuer Monaco as well
Nice one. I never knew that. I must check out Breaking bad again.
Vintage Watch Collector Yeah, Breaking Bad is totally worth a rewatch, it might be a Tag Heuer Monaco he gets from Jesse, but it doesn't remove the connection to Steve McQueen though, since they both had lung cancer, very nice detail from the writers.
Elvis Also wore an Accutron Astronaut on a wide leather strap but your list has no mention of that...
That ended horribly
What about Louis Perrlett air zermatt?
What about Paul Newman Rolex Daytona??? How could you miss that one?? 😮
Seinfeld’s enemy wore a daytona? Typical..Explains why Seinfeld wore Breitling..
Bruce Lee also wore the Seiko 6139.
I didn't know MLK jr. wore a rolex datejust or Miles Davis was a Navi-timer fan!
great men wear great watches!
Where is the AP with its octagonal shape?
The A.P. Royal Oak? So many nice watches Toussaint.
What about the original Breitling Montbrillant?
I have a pacer with the 500 movement that has been restored. And I never wear it LOL!
I'll bet that it will attract a lot o attention when you do wear it because it looks so unusual.
@@wristaction I have a question. I have about 40 Bulova 30's to 1970's. I want to sell off from My collection to help with the purchase of a new car. Where is the most reputable place to sell? I have given some thought to the NAWCC Association for membership. Any thoughts about them?
Seiko. nuff said.
Thanks for watching Tony
That in the photo is a 5100 Beta 21 , not a datejust.
permuvendo lote de 120 autos europeos, audis, bmw, jaguar etc puden pasar a verlos están en barrio norte vecino informa 50musd por todo
James Cameron has been wearing a Submariner for over 25yrs. He was part of the Rolex deep sea challenge.
Hey what about Jimmy saville.he always wore a big gold rolex
If i remember right i think he lost a rolex worth £50k when he was doing a marathon.
Eric Clapton's Platinum Patek Philippe 2499?
thanks for watching. I know, so many watches to choose from. Appreciate the comment.
I could only afford the number 10 watch😂
lol. It's still a great watch to have in your collection.
Maybe james bond omega seamaster professional 300m ?
Great choice. I like he one with a black dial and a Nato strap.
Lyndon Johnson and the Rolex President.
1/Rolex Oyster Perpetual worn by Sir Edmund Hillary on his 1953 exposition up Everest
2/ Left-handed Rolex Oyster in Stainless Steel wien by Charlie Chaplin
3/14K yellow-gold, tonneau-shaped Longines wien by Albert Einstein
Enjoyed your video. Thx
Thank you for watching Philip! Great suggestions there
Vintage Watch Collector 👍🏻😁
No. 1 is false. Hillary did NOT wear a Rolex up Everest.
What no Paul Newman Daytona ?
Yep, there are so many great watches...
I really got shocked
Seiko alien as worn by s. weaver in the movie.
Paul Newman's Daytona?
Too many great Rolex's to choose from...
Vintage Watch Collector Now that Paul Newman's Daytona has sold for over $17million, it is probably the most important Watch to serious Collectors ever.
Mark Vezina my thoughts exactly. Paul newmans paul newman daytona is the most famous celebrity wristwatch in any brands history
Paul Newman watch
Not only should the Paul Newman Daytona be on the list. But all early model Daytona.
What's the name of the first person?
