    Use a usbc to crocodile clips connect the negative black clip to a trickle charger and connect positive side of trickle charger to noco output red clamp, this will allow you to avoid the BMS and charge internal battery without taking it apart, give it 20 mins and it should then take a charge from normal usbc

      Yep! See my other video for details on how to do this.

    On the Boost X series NOCO has said that if the battery falls below the threshold voltage to charge, you can plug in the cigarette lighter charger for about 15 Minutes which will many times bring the voltage up to where the regular charge can be applied

      I can confirm that this does work. NOCO did tell me that only in Override will it go below this threshold, if using it normally it will protect itself.

    Great video, as always, I have a Noco gb70 2000ah that I would like to try your technique on, but I am unsure what voltage and amperage to use for the slow charging process. Could you help, please? Cheers

    Hi Colin, I have pulled apart the NOCO and found an SMD component close to the USBC charging port blown. Looks like a small IC with D19 printed onto the PCB. Would you know by any chance what the component is? Thanks

    Colin, based on the demand for the NOCO's, what would it take for you to replace the cells in the NOCO with some off the shelf cells?

    • @colindgrant
      @colindgrant  7 місяців тому

      I haven’t been able to find any suitable replacements off the shelf (same dimensions and high C rating). But under $40 I think it would be worth the work.

    Great video Colin. I have a GBX45 which doesn't appear to take charge via USB-C (solid red LED). The Pack voltage is still at 14.5V and all cells appear to be balanced 3.625V. I have checked several power sources but cant figure out why the booster is not accepting charge. Any ideas what may be the issues?

      I'm not taking repair work, but I would just do the same steps I posted here. Hopefully you can do the same. One easy thing to try is a USB-A to USB-C cable, in order to force a 'slow' charge. Good luck!

    Apparently when you can't charge it via USB then you need to use the cigarette car charger to bring it back to life according to another video here: ua-cam.com/video/_kscEuRkGBc/v-deo.html

      I've watched that. I don't see how it would work electronically. Here's another comment where I went into more depth...

      @@colindgrant While I wouldn't have thought that it would work, I went ahead and purchased the NOCO cirgarette adapter and it did indeed bring by GBX45 back to life. No amount of regular USB C would do it. NOCO did confirm that it has an auto-shutoff to prevent running down EXCEPT when in Override which I used for a totally dead battery.

      @@mattr3194 This is great info. Thanks for confirming. Maybe I'll have to buy one of their cigarette adapters to figure out what exactly is going on!

      @@aldoramirez-mf9nd That's a new one to me. I haven't seen that, and unfortunately I don't have any ideas. Have you called NOCO?
