Magic! I just bought one 1.3 lv4 silver cap. Its crazy how little paint they use. I bought it to keep the overspray down in my garage. Im used to high pressure guns. I couldnt believe how well it chops up the paint at pressures under 20psi. I know some people crank it up to make it faster but i kinda like the way it sprays at low pressures. Great tool. Good job👍
I needed this. The world needed this. People absolutely hate that aircap! I was even at paint school and they just dogged on it. In their defense everyone paints differently and iwata isn't about to say spray this at 3 inches away. They're still on the official 8 inch distance. I've got an lvx orange cap lph400 , someone recently gave me the purple and I'm going to try this.
Definitely try it. 3in til u get coverage. Once you get coverage spray 6 in and you will come back and thank me later. I had to figure it out for myself for about a year with all the trials and tribulations. But then I figured it out and it love the gun every since. Imma make a video on how to use it on flat panel like hoods. Don’t know when but I will make one. Kuz Ik ppl will still get tiger strip but imma show how to prevent it with that purple cap.
@tanirehal3159 I don’t. I thought I did. I just have one with an all over job using the LPH-400 purple cap. Can’t make a vid on it now because I switch paint systems now.
@@treysterthepainterturner8404 What would you do differently? Still achieve coverage using 3" away from work surface and then pull back to 6-8" for drop/control coat?
Finally an actual video on this cap, I mostly agree with how you use it but personally I spray this at 14psi, full fluid, 1-1 1/2 turn in on the fan to help it lay down wetter, and spray at about 4-5in away at a fairly slow pace you gotta remember it'd a LVLP with this cap. Surprisingly enough it also works extremely well for clear and you can bump the psi up without fan pattern issue only thing is you'll have to dial the fan in 2 turns
Yeah that’s true. I haven’t used it with clear just base. I do have 2 other videos about the Lph-400 purple cap. With the video imma post soon it’ll be An almost all over job with it. I’ll be doing the hood, fender, 2 doors, quarter, pillar, and roof.
Most painters turn back the fan and liquid because they shoot at higher air pressure. So yes if you’re using 12 psi, then yeah I would leave everything wide open too. Otherwise you’re not gonna get enough material through there to actually coat the parts. For your Iwata. The DV1 needs higher air due to its design for high atomization. Thanks.
Yes also the purple air cap can’t exceed pass 14 psi or u with start to have splitting problems because it is only for base metallic, pearl application. So 6 to 8 psi they want u to use it at but 12 psi do pretty good too. No problem.
Trey will you make a video lph400 spraying clear.im thinking about getting one cause i paint in my garage the pro lite puts out some overspray when spraying 26-29psi with clear coat.
@@treysterthepainterturner8404 I got one more box to go through 🤣 ight Trey. Also man the way you're explaining in this video was great man. Mix some of that I to those new vids. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
@treysterthepainterturner8404 full although a big one would be about the same considering sides, top, etc are usually split up. I'm just curious would it be of any help for a DIYer at home who normally only does full resprays where avoiding excessive overspray is important
Yes. I have a short of what the job look like with the Basecoat. Look through my shorts you’ll see it. Plus I made a vid of a full paint job with this cap on a Kia soul. And I did one on a Toyota Highlander it’s on my short.

Yeah u should try the purple cap you’ll really love it. Better than the silver cap to me but the purple cap is only for metallics and pearls.

@tanirehal3159 it would be the same. 3 in for coverage once u get coverage the step back 6 in which is normal spray distancing for drop coat.

Thanks for the tips, much appreciated. I have a metallic basecoat pearl to spray so I have been testing caps.
No problem, Yeah I love the purple cap for metallic. It breaks it down and help prevent moddling and Blemishing.
Keep doing what you doing brother you doing great 👍 👌 👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼
