This video should be one of the top ten welding videos in UA-cam. It teaches so much, and using only a few tools rather than a garage full of fancy equipment. Thanks so much for putting this out, I've learned so much I don't think I can process it all at once! All the best from Spain.
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it and I wish you the best for your future projects. I have many ideas for videos, now I just need the time to make them.
I really like the approach you took with this, definitely something I need to build in order to maximize space in my workshop and make it easier to get outside with to work on stuff like my horse trailer. Many thanks for sharing your time and skills !!!
Boy do I enjoy your videos so much, thank you for sharing, I so much appreciate it, I’m just learning to weld. I’m 53 years old and I finally found something I love to do. Appreciate you so much 🙏
Hi Gavin , iam really impressed with the build quality and finished welding cart , The one thing i did like was the use of the flap wheel on the outside of the grinding wheel perfect for smoothing of ruff edges prior to welding, Built a cart many years ago just to carry a welder ,and a similar bottle rite at the back and on a plate under the welder mounted a metal reel to coil up the earth cable , the reel is insulated from the plate , then the earth cable is clamped to the inside of the reel with a bolt through a earth lug , a handle on the front outside of the reel, I floored the bottom of mine to hold a big plastic box for tools gloves and welding hat , and on the frame that holds the welder i fixed a 4 gang socket with a short lead to a three pin plug , Then the power supply cable is 10 mtr 16 amp , 13 amp rubber plug , other end is a 3 pin socket like the ones on a generator , Then I went on to fit the same 3 pin plugs on a drill, grinder , sander , and a small circular saw , one cable four tools . Keep on doing what you are good at loads of us enjoy what you make , Stan Edinburgh Scotland .
For your Vice grips what I did was welded a washer on the end of the tighter so it will help with turning it and add a spot to hang them. Also Round conduit from leg to leg for more clamp. You gave me so many ideas in this video thanks for taking the time to pass your knowledge on.
I am glad my video was of some help. I have seen the washer setup before and it is a very good idea to hang them, I loved your comment that it makes it easy to turn, (Yes now that is a good tip) The conduit for hanging clamps YES. Thank you for your comment and tips.
That's cool I had to make one for apartment living. It was taking 20 minutes to set up outside and I always forgot something. This way it's all on one cart.
Thank you, that was why I made it, I had to make many trips to get the gear out and again to take it in when packing up, I am still very happy with it. Thank you for your comment.
A shout out to you from up here in the States. Very clever and well thought out! Little pockets to keep the welder from "wandering"; a creative use of motor cycle sprockets and chain. You even gave it a snazzy paint job. Great job,Buddy....er Mate!
Thank you for sharing so much knowledge in a single video. This is probably one of the top welding videos on UA-cam. You've really contributed a fantastic resource here.
i am just getting started, watching you gives me some good starting projects and also get my imagination going using things for projects. thank you. keep them coming. I don't have a lot of the fancy tools and you are teaching me how to work with what I have. Thanks again.
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment. It is good to learn to do things with simple tools, it builds your skills much better than flicking a switch and it is done for you. Work safely and I wish you the best for your projects.
Excellent video and very clear. My congratulations for such dedicated and neat work. I will take it as inspiration to make mine. Thank you very much for the contribution.. Greetings from Uruguay 🇺🇾
What a superb, entertaining and instructional video, the best I've seen for ages. A lesson in planning, resourcefulness, skill and using mostly basic equipment in clever and creative ways rather than just reaching for an expensive piece of kit to do the job. Inspiring, thanks for posting.
Nice build! I like a lot of your ideas on the grinding station in particular for the quench tub and boxes to put raw and finished pieces in. Also like the angled corners on the frame so no sharp edges to bump into. Well done.
Thanks for the video, I'm new to metal work and have to work outside too. I'll use this as inspiration for my own, thanks. I like that you're building high quality product with the basics and without a high budget workshop, looking forward to more metal work videos.
Thank you, I am glad you liked the video, I will have more welding videos up shortly, I am in the middle of a renovation and that is my one project right now. (I am not videoing it) so when I get this done I will get my act together with my channel. Thank you for your comment.
Hi Gavin, what a fantastic creation. Your future welding projects will be a joy with this new set up.I love your attention to detail and your skill base. That old vice is a ripper.Cheers,Rob.
Hi Rob, thank you am glad you liked it, I have had that vice for a long long time and it has taken a very bad beating form me over the years. Yes this welding cart will make my life much more organized when I am working on projects. Thank you for your comment.
Nicely Done! I'd suggest to add a ground pad that the ground clamp can be clamped to, while it is wound up on the spool. That way it doesn't even have to be unwound to use. And you don't have to walk on the ground cable, since it remains spooled.
Man, Gavin. You definitely ROCK man! So much knowledge, and creativity. Why can’t any of my buddies be more like you. Your friends must all be real proud of you. 🍻 m8!
Thank you very much for your awesome comment, I really appreciate it. I wanted a welding cart with all the tools on hand that I normally use nice and handy to get to. I like my gear to be different so I look at it and think that looks ok,,,,, and hopefully not the same as anybody else may have made. Thank you.
Excellent inspiration and construction (assembly), a complete workshop. It is the result when the mind works together with the body. Congratulations..!! Greetings from Greece..!!
Very innovative design. All your functional tools within hand reach. A realistic way have a movable cart for your shop. Nice I really enjoy the build. Good job. Awesome.
That's an outstanding welding cart, pretty smart ideas and I guess I will "steal" one or two for my own 😉 great craftsmanship. Thanks for uploading this video.

I agree with you, I do have a flat section just next to the MIG, but my helmet is normally just on the bench next to the job. I appreciate your suggestion, thank you.
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it. If you are going to have 3 bits at the back then each corner would be a 45 degree corner, so your two angles on each corner would be 22.5 degree, have a play with a bit of cardboard to check the angles and how long each bit must be. Hope that helps a bit.
@@GavinClarkdiy cheers for the quick reply haha yea it came to me after my comment and had a fiddle with it and got it to work gonna use the idea on my trolley.
When u made the grinder shield ushould have put some light strap around the bottle opening so u could put a sheet top there for spare parts ect and protection of the gauge
I sort of like it the way it is, the orange see-through lift up cover protects the gauge and bottle, I can also see the gauge looking down through it, and it lifts up so I can turn the bottle off, at the end of the day. I sit a small toolbox on top of that area too. Thank you for your input.
Hi gav, I see you use a dewalt cut off saw, I have the same but can't get it to stop leaning over, it cuts straight and I have put the square on it and all looks good but no matter what I do it leans over when cutting box section. Any rip??
I can only say cut one very, very slow with not much down pressure on it, it cuts straight, then it is lined up, and the lean maybe because of flexing as you push down to cut, get another brand disc and see if that cuts differently to you one you have on it now. It's just trying a few things to work out if it's repeatable, and if it can be fixed, eg if the lean is a straight cut (just on a slight angle) maybe changing the angle you are cutting away from "square" so that the LEAN cut is straight with the box section. Just a thought. I wish you the best.
