You go to a doctor , he uses a wonderful high tech state of the art machine to scan you. He returns after looking at the scan and you ask “ok doc , what’s wrong in your picture ? “ . He replies not with the whole answer of this bit or that bit which may or may not be a this or that which he can see is “wrong” because it effectively doesn’t belong , that part is omitted, his respond in his answer is “I see this bit that I’m exactly sure of what it is and I can fix it”. As if the state of the art machine is an extension of his mind , but this is a left hemisphere dominated and perhaps schizophrenic and/or psychotic behavior of his mind. People go to doctors in western medicine where they are to treated as affirming the effectiveness of a machine or algorithm and not treated humanely , in which value is represented by human to human encounter , where then the doctor will respond with wholesome responsibility. How many people leave hospital and feel unsatisfied by the encounter but also say to themselves “they only have so little time with each patient maybe the next person on the list needed more attention than I did “. Even data in medicine is driven to affirm what the study or application or experiment drug can confirm. Patient should not be seen as a statistic, science advance one funeral at a time. 😢
