- Airfix Austin K2/Y Ambulance build part 2 - painting and weathering. In the previous video I built the brand new @OfficialAirfix 1:35 K2 Ambulance and painted it in the caunter camouflage scheme using AK Real Colours paints. In this video I weather the ambulance by applying chipping effects with a brush and a sponge and using Abteilung 502 oil paints to add a pin wash, grime, and dust effects. I also use oil paints to apply streaking effects and finish the model with a light, thin dust coat to bring all the elements together. You can find the Airfix ambulance here: prf.hn/l/xnyqe9z and you can see part 1 of the build here: • New Airfix K2/Y Ambula...

Excellent paint job especially on the driver
Thanks Russell. I'm trying to improve my figure painting skills
Nice build 👌
Cheers Dave
Ice Cold in Alex.... Looks great the effect on the windscreen is quality
Thanks Calum. I wasn't sure if I had overdone the windscreen so that's good to hear.
@@ModelNerd Looked spot on to me and just reminded me of the movie, airfix kits do seem to be improving recently
Yes - the impression I got from the recent Airfix Creators' Day was that they were really keen to listen to feedback from the community and were making a real effort to address some issues they've had in the past.
Absolute stunning build there mate! I’m on this kit at the moment. Just getting towards the final paint stage before decals. Lovely kit to build. Probably the most fiddly bit for me was the stretcher frame assembly on the inner upper rear sides. Apart from that it’s very detailed! I did add a resin pillow, bag and blanket set by red zebra models, just to add that extra bit! Lovely channel you have!
Thank you. I bet it looks great with those resin additions!
Looks awesome, I've just started this and built the chassis, really nice kit and a change of pace from WW2 planes.
Yes, I really enjoyed this kit too. I like build where the interior can actually be seen on the finished kit!
You have created a very realistic ambulance with the new kit from Airfix. Magnificent work! The video is very informative and super relaxing to watch. Thank you for this beautiful contribution! Cheers, John
Thank you John, I really appreciate that. Have fun modelling!
Great instructions building this kit out. I enjoyed viewing both videos and the step by step details you provided along the way. I am thinking about getting this kit, after watching you build it. Cheers!
Thanks mate - glad you liked it
Phantische Arbeit und die vielen Tricks, einfach toll
Thanks!
That has to be a Lee Enfield 303. Great build and paint work. 👍👍
Thanks mate. Yep, it's a 303 :)
@@ModelNerd nice. My dad had one when I was a kid, I put a few rounds down range. Great reliable weapon.
A superb result. I hope mine turns out this well. One to be proud of my friend
Thank you Steve, much appreciated. Good luck with yours
*Amazing result on this beautiful Airfix ambulance, you did the best! Thank you for this step by step video.*
Thank you mate, I appreciate that. I'm glad you liked it.
Yes you are right a few more men would set the scene for a nice diorama. Steve U.K.
Yes, I wish I could get some appropriate figures
Outstanding job on that. I've been looking forward to seeing this paint scheme. Be well
Thank you John, I appreciate that.
Great build and excellent quality modelling..👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you mate!
Really very nice job with everything.
Thank you very much!
That turned out absolutely outstanding, you have brought out the look of the vehicle perfectly, as for the back step, I think it would have been timber slabs on a metal frame, but what the heck it was your build, congratulations on a job well done.
Thank you Les :) Yes, I think you might be right about the back step :)
Great result. weathering was an excellent tutorial. Stu
Thank you Stu
That turned out really good . Maybe it should live on a little dirama 👍
Thanks John. Yes, I think it might...
Lovely build mate, well done!
Thanks mate!
Absolutely great job on the model 😊
Thank you Shawn
@@ModelNerd may I make a suggestion when you paint the figures lighten up the flesh a shade or two just a suggestion
Nice work, looks great, love the paint scheme.
Thanks John. Yeah, I love Caunter camo. I'm currently doing a lot of reading and research for odd and unusual camo schemes and trying to do at least one vehicle in each. I'm gotva cracking one for the AEC Dorchester command vehicle.
nice Model, I really like it, whish learn more from you.
Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Superb job mate 👍👍
Thanks James
Just caught up with your build, nice job. The rear step is wood in a metal frame I believe, but chipping is ok and not overdone. I'm impressed with the camo markings and weathering; you've made great job of that. I'll have to try that on my build. Cheers Bob 👍
Thank you Bob. Yes, I suspect you are right about those steps - it would make a lot of sense. Good luck with your build.
Great results overall..tutorial excellent info
Thanks Ed. Glad it was helpful!
Great job! Your video inspired me to buy this kit. I had never tried painting the ‘Caunter’ scheme before, but after seeing your impressive results I decided to give it a go. The masking was a bit of a chore but it turned out really well!
Thanks mate. Yes, it really is a fun kit. I'm going to look for more kits like this, where the interior is actually useful and visible, rather than the interiors on most tanks. (That said, I've got a Tiger with full interior "on the list").
Nice build, very cool.Like always I like the weathering stuff the most.I try some of it on my Tiger 2 modell.Hope it turns out not to bad.Keep going with your Videos.Stay safe and take care.
Thank you Dirk. Good luck with your Tiger 2!
Just a
comment for the algorithm
Great job , thanks for the video.
Thank you!
Looks good. Re: stretchers: look if you can find tutorials for burlap. Also sweat stains, other stains, maybe even blood?
Thanks Jaani, that's a good tip.
Good video 👍
Thanks 👍
If you want specific model figures look at Modelu.
Wow, thanks Alan. That's a great site with lots of very unusual subjects and themes. Thank you!
Absolutely brilliant. What glue did you use to put the parts together please
Thank you. I used Tamiya cement (white top).
@@ModelNerd can you use this glue on painted parts?
@@normanmckane3325 You can, but all glue works better if you gently scrape the paint off the join
@@ModelNerd thank you
Wind srceens are painted with square left clear
Yep, from the window-wipers
Hi cant you try and get some Verlinden figures Iv seen one or two still out there . Steve U.K.
I'll certainly have a look. I often forget about Verlinden as we don't hear much about them these days.
Can I ask we're did you get the driver figure from as I've started the kit many thanks
Darren, I got it from a Miniart "British drivers" kit. I show the boxart briefly in the video IIRC
Many thanks
Hi MN. the streaking did tone down the camo. I think the whole piece has a lot of character. Great looking build.
Thanks Michael :)
