I’m confused, is this better or worse for sound?
The mic hinge can easily be fixed by opening the ear cup and tighten the screw. Thats literally it. Ive been lucky and never had the headband pop off😊
Thanks for your preset. They make my Astro’s sound so much better. Especially in the mids. I am however a bass junkie, so I used your preset but cranked up the bass to +7 and than it’s perfect for me.
I bought it a week ago and returned it today! WC FreeZe it’s uncomfortable and smaller than the original

My a50s had the same EXACT headband issue. I ended up finding a 3D printed bracket you can put on the top to hold it. Luckily, I got my a50s for free from a friend who didn't need them but I would have returned them if I spent 300$ on them. I really hope astro makes an update to the a50s they seem really dated to me. USB-C, a better mic, headband fix, and better software would be great

thank u so much for the eq swttings bro. at least to my ears i feel a little bit of adjusting on certain bands might still help this set me in the right direction with the pads. my maxwell diaphrams are all ready making the crinkle sound after 2 weeks so they are going back. ill be waiting for bestbuy to sell the a50x and be going with those. the a50 gen 4 has been just such a work horse for me. thank god i didnt try and get rid of my gen 4s.
Maybe it's because of my 00 guages, but these irritate my ears almost instantly.
Does the cooling gel get to hot over long periods? I’ve heard very conflicting things, any personal experience?
yes, they will get as warm as other pads, but they take a bit longer to reach the temp. but they cool of very fast and eben kan be cooled in the freezer :D
as usual great video! I just recently bought the defean pad, the version that's like sports mesh like the arctis line. those are phenomenal
The A50s are already the most comfy headset I've ever tried. I don't see a need for more ear cups but more options is always nice.
I have the stock pads, the mod kit pad (full fake leather), and the freeze pads. Out of the three, I like the freeze pads the best. The freeze pads are a gamer changer, with no more sweaty ears and very good noise isolation (both for me and my wife), I can game for hours without needing to take the headset off to cool down my ears or wipe the sweat.
Do you have a tune with the stock pads? I really love the stock pads!

Have you perhaps tried wicked cushions on pulse 3d? I think it adds a warmth over stock pads but would be interesting to have it measured
is it better than the leather mod-kit of the headphones ? I have the mod kit but sometimes I feel like it is warming my ears somehow
I have both earcups. Astro A50 Mod Kit is miles better than wicked cushions. Sound and comfort wise.

Cooling gel lasts about 5 minutes for me then gets very spicy nowhere near any sort of heat source just sayin
am experiencing the same thing! the stock velour wants were cooler for me

I had the a50 gen 4 with the mod kit, it sounds like ass with the leather pads. It's muddy and has no clarity

Use an EQ from the zeference. Got some nice eq's there that go perfect with the mod kit but just wondering if these will be better for it than the mod kit.

I have A40s and all I really play is competitive cod specifically at the moment MWII. I’m currently using your recommended EQ for footsteps on the Astro command center and I’m wondering if you recommend altering that EQ in any way for these ear pads as I just ordered a pair? Your EQ works really well on the stock headset so I’m trusting your judgment. Thanks in advance.

@Gadgetrytech I use your eq settings for my Astro A50 original ear cups and they are really good thanks and is that possible for you to make FPS eq settings as I’ve been testing lot of them on the net but those are very bad. If you can do a FPS custom eq for Astro A50 that will be greatly appreciated and it will help many Astro A50 users like me who struggle with footsteps audio. Mainly games like Warzone, Rainbow six siege, Apex and Fortnite on Console

I'm with some of the other commenters. I would love a Dolby specific tune for the stock pads. The Astro EQ is great but I'd love a tune for the Xbox

another great vid. but c’mon astro what are we doing? was disappointed in the a30 and just got the a50 gen4, but is it me or are they just not as good as my gen 3 a50’s? the build and comfort are iffy (headband is loose, mic seemingly gonna break, earpads smaller) and the sound just doesn’t seem as good either. so much so, im just sticking with my gen 3’s, using them wired as the battery is dead. they sound great with base station optical to tv, usb for power/mic to xbox, and using the astro app on xbox, get all the tuning there too. and with a wireless bluetooth transmitter into the aux, simultaneous bluetooth too! but dang astro, just refresh these and i’ll gladly give you $350, as long as you include usb c, better battery and leatherette and velour pads.
Yeah the Gen4 was a step down from the Gen 3 in sound quality. The Gen 4 has a more reliable wireless connection which is greatly appreciate, but the build quality and step down in sound quality was a bummer. I really hope this year they turn it around.
Just bought my new astro A50 and I'm facing the same issue with the upper band. This sucks

@@GadgetryTech they definitely silently revised the manufacturing for the headset. I’m looking at my one in comparison to my friends one and the drivers sound so different, the build quality is ever so slightly off (creating not so slight issues like the headband) the mic doesn’t sound as good.
Perhaps anecdotal but it seems to be a pretty common running theme that they’re not what they used to be. And only recently I learnt about the acquisition from Logitech too. Which seems to match up with the dip in QC/quality

Sucks it came to that though. $300 headset that's known to fall apart when you put it on, yet it's still sold without any change.

Mate, why aren't you using APO EQ with Peace UI for PC? For my Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, I have applied your WC freeze parametric EQ in APO EQ/Peace and combined it with flat Dolby Access/Atmos EQ for the absolute best possible top-tier audio quality. In-game audio settings, I only need to pick a multi-channel (highest, be it 5.1 or 7.1) audio format and let Dolby Access do the rest while your parametric EQ is the foundation defined in APO EQ/Peace.
This is the way to get the most out of my headphones after many hours of trial and error, and I'm confident it is the way for all headphones on PC.
While I completely agree with you, many people will struggle to use it all correctly so I have to make sure it’s easy enough for most people to use. You still need sonar for game to chat mix anyway
@@GadgetryTech Meh, discord on your mobile phone connected to the Nova through Bluetooth, and you have two different audio controls. However, I get it; I don't do multiplayer games and like my single-player stuff, so perhaps my way is for people who want to scare the living shit out of themselves while playing Dead Space remake in the dark.
Using Peace over Sonar is not any more complicated, IMO, especially since it has an EQ import function, which you could provide if you think people would find it easier to import.

I'm intrigued with something you said: DAC tuning doesn't work on Xbox if you're not using optical, and instead I should use Atmos app to tune the headset. Does that mean that I should keep everything flat at the DAC (and keep it stereo, obviously) so that it doesn't mess with Atmos tuning, or it doesn't matter?

Hey mate no one responded but this is late but the DAC tuning doesn't apply at all if running it purely in USB mode. So you can safely leave the tuning there as is and tweak your EQ through the Atmos app.
All other settings aside from audio output settings will still be adjustable in app though. So mic noise gate and side tone etc etc.

@@Riktamorty Issue with this unfortuntely is you then get no VRR and other extended HDMI features. Not a nail in the coffin but it depends on what you're happy to trade off with
These ear cups are garbage. They sounds like absolute shit no bass at all and everything sounds far away. The Astro mod kit sounds so much better even though the ear cups are made of shit material

lol funny, I think the modkit makes the a40s for ex. sound exactly like you described. Only imagine the A50s are worse.
My Wicked Cushions have a horrible smell to them. Stinky af hope that will go away.
