So cool that so many of the game cabinets are super different from what I remember as a kid in arcades around where I grew up. And all seemingly in excellent condition.
I went here a few years ago. I played F-Zero AX here. Looks they've changed the games since then. They used to have pinball machines in the rhythm game corner. I remember one old man came in and he just played Columns all night
I think they move the games around quite often. They may have also moved that F-zero AX cabinet to the Ikebukuro location, because there is one there now.
Awesome arcade! A lot of machines you don't see very often. That physical Irritating Stick looks like it lives up to its name! Always love the big shooter/shmup representation. I forget which arcade it was, but one I visited in Akihabara had a whole floor dedicated to them. I spent practically a whole day playing any that I hadn't tried before. Super fun.
Gotta be honest here, even though i’m north of forty i’ve no real nostalgia for arcades because there simply weren’t any available where i lived when i was a kid. The only times i remember getting to play an arcade machine was when i went to a bigger city with my family (Sega Rally and Street Fighter mostly). Thank you for this video, it’s always fascinating to see a piece of this culture being preserved in modern times.
It's definitely up there for me as well! The animation was crazy at the time (and it still holds up). I remember wolverine's animation specifically really blew my mind.
Followed this video and your suggestion and spent 3 hours randomly playing everything in here. Late 80s and mid 90s games running in actual CRT cabinets are just a sight to behold, from an IQ perspective. There is no real way to get that (yet) with emulation so this was great experience. Thanks!
OH MY GOD! THIS PLACE LOOKS LIKE HEAVEN ON EARTH...!!!! I want to go there now...! Hopefully, next year if I can afford it... ^^;; Thank you for making this awesome video.
Daytonaaaaaaa... Thats epic. I used to play in a four cabinet setup with some friends when we go to the cinema. Lots of fun. Classic afterburn cabinet and game are trully masterpieces. As a game dev I really miss these simple but fun games. I hope I can work in one of that kind someday. Nice video as aways 😊
Yaaaay Mikado Takadanobaba!! This arcade was my favourite when I was living in Japan. Btw Mikado's mascot character is designed by Rensuke Oshikiri the writer of High Score Girl, and there are gacha machines where you can get badges with the character on it. She looks like Akira Ono from the manga so it's a must visit for High Score Girl fans.
I never owned a Saturn - and I think I played dodonpachi on iphone or something but I really hate the falling stars filling the screen, - but I got a MISTer and recently started playing DonPachi ( Saturn ) which is an incredible game. The music and the announcer / radio-buddy really add to the experience. I am playing on a 34" Trinitron which is awesome, but I would LOVE the TATE original arcade machine in my house one day. I am on holiday atm and keep wanting to go back home because I was playing every day.
I will be in Tokyo in the near future, staying in Shinjuku. So I'll definitely check this out. Thanks for sharing. One of my favorite Arcade games is Dynamite Deka (Die Hard The Arcade), I was happy to see they had it in Super Potato.
well Metal Hawk is a game I saw like thirty+ years ago and couldn't find again after forgetting the name, I had basically given up and attributed to a dream. And here it is exactly as I remember it. Freaky. Well thanks for posting this and solving a life mystery.
Oh man, those super old school Japanese cabinets! I don't know what it is about them, but they just look so much more sleek than the boxy ones we had in the US.
The Pirate game is called Kurohige Kiki Ippatsu which is pop up pirate. Its based on the kids toy. Stick swords in random slots and you lose if you pop the pirate. Intersting they have an coin op version of this game. Never knew it existed. thank you for sharing and subbed for future content!
@@chocolocojames213 they were really beautifully maintained! And no one in Japan seems to modify the machines by installing flat panel screens in them like we do in the US. Its 100% CRT goodness
Neat! I've seen Bomber Girl so often, but I have never played it. I also never noticed that it has characters from Tokimeki Memorial and Twinbee. So I suppose Konami bought out Hudson? That would explain why Konami did the hardware for the PC Engine Mini. Thanks for this video. I was last down in Tokyo a year ago, but it was just for the hobby show and didn't have time to visit any cool game centers. For Tower of Druaga, you have to draw your sword and hold it, then run into the slimes with it. So, the button is not a slash attack. I know, right? Not intuitive. Once you get used to it, it is sort of fun. Did you notice that the Taiko no Tatsujin had the marquee to Garou Densetsu (Fatal Fury)? That's weird. The pirate barrel game I have never seen at a game center, butit's based on a popular Japanese children's toy. You insert swords into the slots in the barrel and see how many you can put in before it pops and scares you. Each time you play, the trigger is in a random location.
Cool video! I have some negative arcade feelings because they were always geared to take your $$ away so fast, but still great to see. Was this early in the day? Not very crowded there.
In my country México the arcade are gone but i play many of these games in my xbox classic in final burn alpha emulator or in my cell mame emulator box

Awesome video. Loved seeing audio ports on arcades had no idea those were offered. Also loved seeing the power drift and after burner climax
thank you! it was a cool feature for sure!
Great tour! Your knowledge of the classics is surprising Pixxellie given some of those machines could be older than you!
@@AdamMac27 thank you! I am a nerd! lol 😆
I spent so many quarters playing X-men vs Street Fighter at my local arcade in the late 90s. It's my all time favorite fighting game
It's definitely up there for me as well! The animation was crazy at the time (and it still holds up). I remember wolverine's animation specifically really blew my mind.
awesome for briefing of retro arcade center in Takadanobaba, I may walk around there in Aug. thanks for share!
Have fun! thanks for watching!

12:20 You need to find the right slot to make the pirate pop out. 😅
14:38 3rd strike candy cab in the bg
Have you seen an arcade Sega music game called Flash Beat?! It’s my fave played it at Disney quest back in 2000s in Chicago
I havent seen it yet but will be on the lookout!
The deluxe cabinets are so cool.
I know right!?
Sega Rally mentioned! And shown!
Thanks for posting this. Question...how do you play the games? Do they take Japanese coins or do you have to prepay by card?
they usually take 100 yen coins.
Oh that pirate game!, tomy sold loads of those toys in the UK

Where is everyone?
You may want to consider using background music throughout the whole of your videos.
Nice insights, though.
