One of my favorite tracks in the game. It lacks the energy of UFO Defense's geoscape. This is mysterious, mournful. Aliens are invading. It sucks. You don't know who they are, what they want, or how powerful they are. All you know is you have one base, guys with blue uniforms, and there are reports of a military base being strafed outside your radar range with dozens of known casualties.
And it's the way the game starts you off. I love that.
It's your first night with the game. Airliner shot down with 62 presumed dead outside the reaches of your base. Feel sad. Shot down an alien scout in revenge. Lose 3/4 of your ground forces in battle because you're noob but win at the last second with a grenade throw. Drink bourbon. Repeat next day.

A fantastic successor to classic X-COM. The music captures that eerie, mysterious feeling.
Exactly how I feel. I love the modern xcom but this and the music from original one were both scary to me in the way it should be when you're fighting a secret war against alien invaders
You guys ever just listen to Geoscape 01 and look into the stars at night, except that one God damned star to the left keeps darting back and forth and you wave your fist at it until it flies off, finally wondering to yourself if were alone in this universe?

Xenonauts the true successor of X-Com!
I'm looking forward to Xenonauts 2 though they should have called it xenonauts remastered or ultimate edition since it's still the first game just with better graphics and new features.
@@Izzoroth Switching from a 2d to a 3d game engine seems like a pretty big change beyond just 'better graphics'.

I wonder what the aliens would have stolen from us? how would we add to there perfection, the thing that springs to my mind is our abilty to adapt and think outside of the box, building weapons and craft that match what they can produce in just weeks instead of years. but honestly, i have no idea. (Note I have not actually lost a game so its possible we learn the answer in the bad end, but considering how lame the good ending is I kind of doubt it.)
i need the 1hour extended version of this!

As it should be. That was one of the major selling points of XCom, the game on which it's based.

I love it
I played Xenonauts only a couple of hours, and it's fine. But.. I have to say it's pretty boring game, and furthermore this musicscape is forgettable and kinda puts you to sleep.

@@arthurrelke Maybe not. I love the original and terror from the deep. The first new remake of enemy unknown was fine, but became boring after a while.
