Do you have any tips on how to parenta child who is displaying all ODD symptoms? My 7 year old has been showing all the symptoms and we are so frustrated and don't know where to begin.
How do I stop my son climbing up on the coffee table & new tv unit (I’m waiting to hear back from someone that I brought a tv stand from months ago now but haven’t received) like I’ve tried everything, I even got a climbing area for him it’s like big pillows different shapes that he can move around even has a ball pit but he’s more interested in the coffee table or tv unit. I’ve said no, tried distracting him and getting him to do something else, I’ve tried saying ahh or get down doesn’t work I’ve tried getting him to look at me and say don’t do that I’m just at a loss and it’s not safe he could easily fall off like I’m running from one side of the room to the other and it’s exhausting I barely end up being able to do anything else like it seems like he does know what no means but just chooses to ignore me one day because I’ve tried everything I could think of I even tried getting him to sit fit a minute like I’ve arranged the room so the child gate basically blocks off the only two areas he’s not allowed, but literally there’s three things he can’t do one is climb up on these the other’s he can’t do atm anyway but he needs to learn just because he can climb something doesn’t mean he should somethings he can but not everything and I don’t know how I can get him to stop climbing it or what I should be doing to stop him as it’s not safe for him to. I did teach him how to get down safely just because I was worried about him falling off as i mean like I start folding clothes to put away he gets up in less then a minute I can’t always get to him before he climbs up so I put him down tell him he shouldn’t do that but can anyone give me any tips

“Discipline commonly gets mixed up with punishment” YES!!! Love that because it’s so true.

Stop telling him to not do it. Instead guide him to do something else. Say “play with this”, distract them with a different play
