I loved this series soo much. One of my top series I have read. Its a good thing you mentioned the fact that it is one continuous story, because I found that when I didn't know it was one giant book it was easy to wonder if it was going somewhere at points. But it 100% paid off in all respects when I followed through with the other books.
Loved this series on release and re read them again a few years ago, been thinking of checking out an audio book of them if it's available. Also it's a shame that the MMO game that was in development never got released, could have made the books more popular and maybe led to adaptations in other media.
Wow that’s a big thumbs up. I have number one being mailed to me now and I was unsure. This review makes me feel more confident and looking forward to maybe more beyond that one
You have influenced my current reading so much! I can't get enough of graphic novels at the moment and I'm definitely inspired to try some sci fi and fantasy - I love your enthusiasm x
Hey hun! I'm finally picking this series back up!!! I have been trying to convince my partner to pick them up for a while now but he insists that sci-fi isn't for him (translation: just being stubborn lol). I'm just hoping I haven't left it too long as sooooooo much happened in City of Golden Shadow lol. I sought out its Wiki page for a recap and discovered that my memory pretty much sucks. However, I'm praying that my brain has retained just enough of book one so I am able to dodge a reread lol. Either way I am so excited unraveling more of the mysteries and experiencing more amazing worlds.
I read the series 12 years ago. I recall enjoying it, but it was a hard slog. I can still picture plenty of scenes and the ending. Your review makes me want to read it again!
I just bought the first two books not long ago. Your reviews have gotten me so very excited for this series. I cant wait to be immersed in this world! Great video 😊
I agree with your opinion of this series though I didn't love it quite as much as you did. The only issues I had with it are that it could have been a lot shorter and that despite taking place sometime in the late 21st century, not much has changed other than VR being everywhere and corporations controlling the world. My favorite aspect was the mystery, specifically Paul's backstory. My favorite character was Jongleur since despite how utterly ruthless he is, he's surprisingly relatable (not sure if this means I'm a sociopath).
Hey hun, I have only just picked up the first book again, after a small break, and I'm about 400 pages in. I am absolutely loving it, but I am having just a bit of trouble comprehending what these Egyptian Gods are exactly and also what the secret cabal mean in terms of their involvement to the story lol. Does this get any cleared later on or am I just a little vapid? lol
+Akashic_Books The first book is definitely the weakest and as it goes on the Egyptian Gods are certainly explained so keep pushing on to book #2 and things start to get more interesting and slowly make more sense!! :-)
+Kitty G Thanks so much :) I definitely wasn't going to give up but you have given me back my excitement about completing this series!!! Your recommendations have given me such an amazing library. The books I have purchased due to your reviews I have absolutely loved. I am so greatful for all you do and the hard work you put into this chanel.
Yes.I had not thought about that aspect.I have read the complete series and everything becomes clear. In the second or third you pretty much learn about all that
This series is really in the top for me, and I'm actually sad that it isn't that we'll known. It's got everything; Sci-fi, fantasy, detective stories, thriller, slight horror elements (the twins!)... I actually wish every single day for this to become either a movie series or a TV series. Oh and about your mismatching cover, I've got the Swedish translation, and they divided every book into two books. Every book is hard bound with a printed cover, except book 5 & 6 which are cloth bound with a loose paper cover. The design matches up, so it isn't visible unless you look closely :P
Not really with ur logic every aurthur rips off everyone else ready player one is a different spin on virtual reality their are plenty of virtual reality novels

+Tech Soul Yeah, it's certainly an excellent epic :)

I liked the books so much! I would really like to have some artwork inspired by the series
An Otherland Haiku:
Lasers in the sky/
Crossing space and time, so far; /
Strike a leaf and end.
Wow that’s a big thumbs up. I have number one being mailed to me now and I was unsure. This review makes me feel more confident and looking forward to maybe more beyond that one
I love this series too. I think Tad Williams isn't nearly as well-known as he should be. You've inspired me to do a re-read!
+ElleKayEm yay :) Well worth it, I'm sure you'll get so much out of a reread :)

+SwirlyGirlyReads :) thanks!!! I'm super glad you're loving the Graphic stuff. I love them too!

Ok. You have convinced me. And given how nice the new trade paper back editions look doesn’t hurt either :)
I know this video is old, but the other day I got otherland, and I am so much excited to read it.
Enjoy!!!!
@@kittygbooks By the way you recommend the whole series, for sure I will enjoy it. Thanks
I have exact same cover issue too!! Totally agree these are brilliant!
+Jo Reads Well now we're not alone :-) I'm so happy that you also enjoyed these!
I'm on the second one and this series is fantastic
I loved it. It was a great read

+Jason Campbell I think the audiobook versions helped it to move super fast for me and keep me really hooked into the series :-)

Haha dear oh dear, it's a great series and although I agree it's chunky I think that's part of its charm!
I like the series alot. I even found myself listening to Mr Bo "J" angles by sammy Davis jr.
Well, I haven't read any of those, but now I feel like I really have to as you're so incredibly persuasive! :)
+Phanaberia I do so hope you enjoy them!
I just got them all

:) I am so glad you love the series too, I think it would be great as a film/TV show! That's a little annoying about the non-matching books!!! :D
Oh olga... the sleeper hero!
yes u can put the book down now.
Ha, Ready Player One completely ripped off Tad Williams. Wow
YEP
