WOW🤩YOU are an
absolute⭐Rock Star⭐
I love this Fallon!!❣
Wow! thank you so much Tracy!
to make cutting the squares with the efficiency of not moving it, but also less scary, make the first cut at the 4" mark and the second one at 2" mark, instead of vica-versa as shown. that way you can still use the fabric edge and your mat on the left to see exactly where you're cutting.
That’s so smart! I wish I thought to do it that way!
Wow ! That's such a great tip !! I'm horrible at making precise cuts, it's my nemesis, but I'm bound and determined to over come it. Lol
An Angela Walters method, 🙂
It's a beautiful quilt... Red, white & black are my personal favorite combination of colors for quilts... As a fellow quilter that by no means always cuts & sews perfect.. I say, done is better than perfect..
I have been looking for a quilt to make with flannels for a guy, I can't wait to try this one. 👍
This would be so cozy in flannels! Love that idea!❤
Thank you for the tutorial and free pattern. You have a lovely smile.
Thank you Debbie! You are so kind! ❤️
Thank you for the great pattern and tutorial.
You’re welcome!
love the design
Yes I will make this quilt.
Thank you for this easy pattern. I definitely will be making one. Just love it!
Awesome! Can't wait to see your creation. Keep me posted on how it turns out!
I have a layer cake that I've been wondering what to do with it. I think I'll give this a try~ Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful! What layer cake do you have?
@@sewbeitquilts I've had it for several years waiting to find a pattern I liked
I love when I finally find a pattern I love for fabric in my stash!
Great quilt....
On cutting another option is cutting the 4" cut then the 2" cut.
That makes so much sense! Sometimes you need someone else to point things out! ❤️
That's what I do when I need multiples. So much easier. Don't have to worry about fabric shifting.
That’s the best way for me too. My cuts are much more accurate. Nancy Roelfsema has a great video on it
I’m glad I came over from Mount Scrapmore. Great quilt idea. Thanks.
Thanks for coming
You give me hope since i still don't always cut or sew perfectly❤
I saved this one! Great pattern! Glad I found you!
Thank you! 😊
I love how you piece. Make it happen as best you can and be happy with it. I'm subscribing right now.
Thank you! It is amazing how many “mistakes” go missing after a quilt is fully finished!
I love the colors and the design
Thank you!
Love your attitude! I'm much the same way, if it isn't fun, why bother!
Thank you! I completely agree!
looks so complicated. thanks for sharing
I love this block. Thank you for the tutorial.
You’re welcome! ❤️
I love, love, love this pattern Fallon!!!! Waht a great pattern! Thanks for teaching it. :)
Thanks Di! ❤️
Loving how this one turned out!
Good Afternoon Fallon, Wow, this block is Fantastic! It makes a Really Cool Quilt!!! Thank You For Sharing Your Quilt Pattern, 🥰 Chris
P.S. I will definitely be making this Quilt, Thanks Again, Chris
Thank you so much Chris! I would love to see photos when you make it!
Enjoyed the video
I made one of these quilt blocks and I’m excited to make more.
i would love to see different layouts for this block- hard for my brain to imagine it.
I’m hoping to make the pattern again in some different prints so I will share photos when I do.
Nice pattern. I have found cutting parallel to the selvage works better for me. I cut ten inch strip, rotate the strip and cut the 1.5 inch strips. The same with the 11” strips. Each ten inch or eleven inch strip will yield 26 10 x 1.5 strips. The cutting goes faster. And since the fabric is cut parallel to the selvage the chance of stretching is less.
great tip! Thank you!
I love your quilt. Bold black stripes! Great job. Thank you for sharing. ❤
I am so glad you liked it Sue!
Love this!
Thank you!
I adore this pattern! So easy, yet looks so hard to do. My daughter and granddaughter are visiting this year for my 60th for two weeks - this may be the project they will want to do!
Thank you for your tutorials!
Thank you Patricia! That sounds like a lovely time you will get to spend with family!
I was obsessed as soon as I watched the video! ❤️ I made mine with 2 colored “plaid strips” The pattern is straight forward and perfect for that one odd layer Cake you just can’t figure out how to use. Thank You so much for the inspiration!
Two colors of the plaid strips would look amazing!
Great tutorial! I really appreciate the explanation of how to trim the block so the smaller squares still match up. You are such a great teacher.
Thank you so much!
Love this pattern. All about showing off my layer cake fabrics!! This is the perfect time to pull out my stripology ruler
I keep putting a stripology ruler in my Amazon cart and never pull the trigger! It sounds like it might be worth it!
I just found your channel! I love it. I have subscribed and hit the notify bell! Nice quilt. I'm going to try it!
Thanks for subbing!
I would love to see one on Black Watch colors!
love this, simple straight lines with a bit of an elegant presentation, may use it on my next quilt that i'm planning now with beautiful japanese fabrics. because i know me, not very big on putting in the work and mind power to line up those strips perfectly from end to end in the block, i'll cut my strips a half inch longer, go faster, worry and fuss less, and trim up later- which i would have to do anyway. 😊
I bet your Japanese prints are beautiful!
I love this pattern and certainly will be making this. I have many Layer cakes including some with bees. I bet I will bee making one woo ii th that 😊😃
Cute!
Thank you!
Love it
Thank you!
Stripology ruler would be perfect for this
Definitely! I need to buy one!
I really enjoyed this tutorial, you make it look so easy.
I was just scrolling through YT quilting videos when yours popped up. I watched it and liked how you gave tips on how to make it easier to cut and put together, so I Subscribed.
Thank You.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much for subscribing!
Very nice.
Thank you Connie!
This is stunning! Wow, wow, wow! And what a wonderful tutorial!
Thank you so much!
Have lots of batik fabric that will look great with this pattern. Thanks for the idea.
Oh yes! This would be fun in batiks!
Great demo! Love the quilt. I want to make several, one for each season. Thanks for the time and effort!
Oh that is a great idea!
Really like it
What a great pattern. I love how this design comes together. So cool! I too am not great at perfectly cutting nor at perfectly stitching that ¼”. I used the same guide and when I measure it, it shows that it is exactly ¼”. I think my problem comes from not perfectly pressing. But like I like to say, no one is going to die if it is not perfect. It is handmade and not made by a computer or a robot! Hand made is handmade! I think thread makes a difference too. It seems like some thread just melts into the fabric but other thread stays on top and then takes up more space making seams go wonky when you try to press them. Thanks for sharing this pattern Fallen! I have several layer cakes that are wanting to be a quilt! One of them just might get that chance!😮
I always think my cutting and sewing is pretty accurate but then when I measure my blocks they can sometimes be all crazy! I’m not sure what it is but I have learned to let it go and enjoy the process! If you make this quilt with your stashed layer cakes I would love to see photos!
Kathy, I tell my wife the same thing all the time! That is, she can sometimes stress over what are minor imperfections that I am 99.9% sure nobody else will even notice. Sometimes, you just gotta roll with the punches. I love the small "imperfections" because they add character.
I just printed off the pattern. I will be looking through my fabrics and this will be one of my next projects. Thank you Fallon.
You are so welcome!
Love this quilt!! ❤ Will definitely be making this one!! Thanks for the video!!
Thank you! Happy sewing!
Absolutely amazing! ❤
Thank you so much!❤

Wonderful! I hope you can share a photo!
Love the plaid pattern!!! Will have to put this on my to do list!!! Thanks for the instructions!
You are so welcome!
I just started mine today. Making 8 inch squares so cut at 1 1/2 inches and 3 inches. Using gray and yellow. Very easy block because of your great instructions! I can't wait to make more blocks and have a baby quilt when I finish. Thank you.
Oh I would love to see it! That will look amazing. I like the idea of the strips being different widths apart!
I love the plaid look and can’t wait to see your quilt finished. Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome!
Fun quilt pattern. Definitely adding it to my long list of quilts I want to make
Hope you enjoy it!
Love this pattern. Thank you so much for sharing this. This is definitely on my to do list 💕💕🎉🎉
You’re welcome!
Definitely doing this & starting Right Now!! Simple elements came together with such sophistication! Great quilty, Thx!!!
I hope you enjoy making the quilt!
@@sewbeitquilts Absolutely!🐿
@@sewbeitquilts hi again, so i cut my cake blocks & 2" strips one day and cut more 2" strips the next day, and started sewing things together. On Day 3 i realized some of those were supposed to be 1.5 inch strips! So i stopped sewing to contemplate the situation i had created, and slept on it. When i returned i decided to proceed with two slightly different grid strips and it seems to be working out ok since the variations are each their own part of the grid. I'm having a lotta fun with your pattern in spite of my deviation, ha!
I recently had to figure out the same thing with a pattern I was working on!
I am so glad you were able to find the best way to make it work!
I really need to write up a pattern for this one to make it easier to follow.
Very nice tutorial ty for sharing your pattern. Love the colors
Thanks so much 😊
Love your quilt, definitely going to add this pattern to my to do list. Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome!
What a great tutorial, can't sew right now but in the near future. As a newbie this pattern looks like something I can do! YEAH
I am so glad that it looks like a pattern you can work on! Reach out to me if you have any questions.
Cute pattern! The colors are perfect for it too.
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for sharing the pattern and tutorial.
You’re welcome 😊
I enjoyed seeing this process! Thanks! I don’t know if I am brave enough to try it, but I think a spring/summer layer cake with a green for the plaid would be beautiful as well!
That would be beautiful!
I was thinking the same thing !
Thank you so much. Beautiful, amazing design.
Thank you Stephanie!
Wonderful block! Thank you for the great tutorial ❤
You are so welcome!
Beautiful . Thanks Fallon. 🇦🇺💚😊
Thank you!
Loved the demo & the quilt. I think this will be a fun way to use up one of my layer cakes. It is a bit scary lining up all the intersections, but you make it look easier than it looks. Thank you.
You can do it! Just go slow when you need to and pin when you piece the blocks together!
I just started quilting and this pattern really caught my eye. I love it! Can’t wait to finish my first one and then start on this one. Thanks so much for sharing this. I just subscribed and look forward to many more of your videos 🤗
Oh thank you so much for subscribing to my channel! What is the pattern you chose for your first quilt!?
@@sewbeitquilts it’s just a simple four patch and the fabric is beautiful. I’m so excited to make it!
Cute easy quilt!! I'll be making this one!!
Yay! ❤️ do you you have ideas for what layer cake you might use?
I think I would buy a honey bun (1.5" roll) instead of cutting yardage. I will try this. Thanks!
Great idea!
Love your demo! I have some layer cakes waiting for the right pattern. This is it!!! Thank you for sharing and letting us know it is ok to not be perfect!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
I love this pattern Fallon! I am going to do the plaid some day, but with just four of the blocks for corners and trimming them down to 10” and just using the two short strips for the rest, I can see a beautiful border to any quilt!! Thank you.
I am still trying to decide if I want to add a border! What would you suggest?
I would definitely border this one with your black. Doesn’t matter what width, it will finish it off beautifully.
Thank you Victoria!
@@sewbeitquilts You may also, depending on how big you want it, put a 1.5” black border then use a print that goes well with your fabric and try the 4 corner block method. That will likely take this to a nice queen size!! Can’t wait to see what you do!!
Great pattern! I love plaid.
Thank you! I hope you are enjoying the New Year so far!
I love this! Thanks a million Fallon.
You're welcome!
Very nice! 23:27
Thank you.
Cute pattern. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome 😊
Love this so much Fallon!! ❤
Love this pattern! It is beautiful❤
Thank you Michelle!
I love that pattern ! Also the Christmas stockings. I just found your channel today❤🌻❤
Thank you Vicky!
Great quilt! Loved your color choices. 😍
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful ❤
Love it!
Thank you Corinne!
My perfectionist sister likes to say, "It's not rocket science." If you must line it up, pin the strips so the ends meet, then corners, and fudge it with a little pressure lengthways to get it to fit right, there isn't tii much for that, if it's well under 2/8ths. Too much would look gathered or make tucks... not so good. You could also make 4-patches from finished blocks and sash them, the same as the hilight strips, slightly bigger top, and more tricks of the eye so they look together?
❤
Love it!! Thanks!
You are so welcome!
What are your plans for finishing it.. borders
I was thinking about doing a thin border of black and see if I can find a print of the red from the quilt for a wider second border. If I can’t I will likely just back and bind it in the same black as the background fabric.
OMG, thanks now I have another quilt I want to make, :) You do a great job explaining and showing we make errors with cutting, sewing, pressing. I'm new to quilting about 4 years. I thought that if your going to cut so many strips you need to cut alternate direction or you get a wave in the fabric. I might cut fabric 10.5 big strip then cut the sashing. Trim... Would that work?
Terry I never heard that about cutting so I will have to look into it. I have only heard that about quilting. That you want to alternate your stitch direction if you are quilting a lot of straight lines.
Hi there, great tutorial. I loved the top. Did u mention anything about starching pior to cutting the layer cake & yardage ? Thinking that would be easier in the long run , ok Eagles started playing in my head!! Did I see this Quilt in the background of the Destash video this past Saturday on the @SEWYEAHQUILTING? If not it looks very close !! But anyway, LOVE LOVE LOVED IT !!
Thank you.
I didn’t starch them but it would certainly help with keeping everything straight. Sometimes the fabric will shrink a little from the starch so you may have to adjust your trimming size. Not all fabrics shrink a lot so it might not matter.
I didn’t see that Destash but I had to go take a peek! It isn’t the same pattern but yes very similar!
Does anyone like the idea of mixing the 2” strips with otter strips? I going going to us fabric pattern Fruit Cocktail.
I love this quilt. I wasn't able to download the pattern, Help
I see the Jolly Box quilt in the background...have you done a video on it that I'm not seeing. Just curious. Mine is ready for binding. Was a pretty quick quilt with the charm packs!
No I didn’t do a video. I have been slowly working through it. I need to just finish it since I am past the bows which took the longest. It is going to be such a cute quilt!
I love the colors and the stripes, but I can't make this one because I'm not as accurate in my 1/4 inch seams.
It is a tough pattern if sewing accurately doesn’t come easy. But, it is still a beautiful quilt if the lines don’t quite meet up.
