      Honestly, the manner and circumstances of his death (in my opinion) elevate him beyond what I think was intended as a “throw away” character.

    In a deleted scene, Ludlow stumbled while drunk and landed on the baby rex's leg, breaking it. They should have left it in because without it, the audience thinks Roland Tembo did it to lure the adult buck.

      I think it was kept in the comic book version of The Lost World. I have 3 of the 4 part comic series on that movie and it explained it pretty well. I forget if it was Ludlow or some other asshole hunter who did it but it was explained how that happened.

They werent entirely bad people. They should have kept that scene in because Ludlow was the bad person the entire time.

    To answer some of your questions:
    The tiny dinosaurs they young girl encountered were not babies, those are Compsognathus and historically, they were no bigger than your average chicken. However unlike the actual dinosaur, and something the novelization explains that the movie doesn't, is that the Compsognathus are actually venomous. When they attacked mercenary Dieter Stark, as they inflicted numerous bites on him, much like modern-day Komodo Dragons their venom gradually weakens their victim. As Dieter desperately tried to evade them, his muscles were gradually failing, and by the time he pulled himself over the log, his muscles have fully constricted leaving him unable to defend himself and allowing the Compys to kill him.
    To answer the question of who broke the Baby T-Rex's leg: It wasn't Roland Tembo (Leading Hunter) or his hunting partner Ajay Sidhu when they discovered the Rex Nest. There is actually a deleted scene where Peter Ludlow (Ingen CEO), gets drunk in celebration for their successful dinosaur harvest operation. While attempting to speak to Roland, he accidentally stumbles and falls backwards atop the baby, breaking its leg. Unfortunately however, there is no video footage of this that I'm aware of, but there is a photographic image of the cut scene.
    Similarly, there is another deleted scene you can actually search for about Roland Tembo. His partner Ajay is tasked with locating him in his favorite bar in Mombasa, Kenya but I'll leave you to watch it for yourself. Although I feel inclined to explain his origins a little. Roland for a grand part of his life had been a big-game hunter. Together with Ajay, they had hunted just about every kind of predator or game this planet had to offer, although there came a time when things became too easy for him to the point where he mentions he and Ajay were but a firing squad. As a hunter doesn't mind when the animal sometimes wins. In the end, Ajay manages to convince Roland to lead Ludlow's expedition by stating that he may have a chance to face his greatest challenge and history's greatest predator, a male/buck Tyrannosaurus Rex.

      The Netflix show Camp Cretaceous made it cannon that the Compies are mildly venomous.

    • @tehdipstick
      @tehdipstick 2 роки тому +8

      The deleted scene at the bar also shows a bit more of Roland's character, as he comes to the aid of a bar waitress who is being harassed by some of the other patrons. This is meant to show that he does have a sense of honor, even if it's a bit old fashioned. A stark contrast to Ludlow's callousness and greed.

      Also the ship with T-Rex was supposed to be attacked by velociraptors who killed most of the crew. The film was getting longer and longer, so they did not shoot the scenes of the attack, but they already had the scenes of the aftermath.

    • @lifelover515

      Great exposition here, Fernando. My only quibble is that the 'Compys' are not from a 'novelisation' (i.e. a non-existent 'book of the film' but from the original Michael Crichton 'Jurassic Park' novel. John Hammond, the Richard Attenborough character, actually gets eaten by them in the first book. I would also like to add that the underrated Pete Postlethwaite as the boss hunter acts the pants off everyone in this. And taking Mrs Rex to San Diego was not only a bad idea for the expedition, but for the producers too, turning it into a Godzillian farce. I pretty much lost interest in the whole franchise after that.

    One reason for so many night and rain scenes was the limitations of CGI at the time. Both were often used to hide the limitations of the technology at the time. Now its far easier to create a fully realistic CGI creature but back then, a lot of effort went into it. Being able to hide behind darkness and rain made things far easier.

    Hey here's some trivia: Roland, the Hunter, didn't break the baby T-rex's. The baby was caught humanely. Ludlow, Hammond's nephew was drunk celebrating catching the dinos, and slipped on the mud landing on the baby's leg. At the end of the film, when the baby was growling at Ludlow, it wasn't just being aggressive, it remembered him. The only evidence of the scene is a behind the scenes photo somewhere in the recesses of the internet, but yeah it wasn't Roland who broke the baby's leg at all.

    • @bobbywise2313
      @bobbywise2313 2 роки тому +1

      In nature predators tend to evolve intelligence to make them better hunters. I think T-Rex was a later dino so more time for intelligence to emerge. I tend to to think the little raptors were probably more intelligent and if not for the demise of dino's we may have seen the emergence of a bipedal dino which could use its hands. Or perhaps highly intelligent flying dino's. Crows, ravens and parrots are among the smartest animals today but without the extinction event 60,000,000 years ago these dinos may have become what scyfi calls reptilians. Of course that would also mean no highly intelligent great apes because mammals would have probably stayed smaller.
      So today the world could have been a high tech civilization of reptilians. Yes this definitely requires a little imagination and a nature may not have gone that direction but the point is that it could have.

    The little green chirping dinos are compsognathus and they're venomous. The venom has a side effect similar to lsd to prevent their prey from struggling and possibly hurting them while they eat.

    The baby T-Rex’s leg was not broken out of cruelty. Someone commented this happened in a deleted scene with the baby Rex’s leg, and in the book as well that the breaking of the baby T-Rex’s leg was an accident. After they captured it someone stumbled and fell and broke the leg by accident.

    Hi Addie!
    I really like your 2 Jurassik Park reactions! It's always a lot of fun watching you when you looking this movies! You say so many things what i also thought myself when i looked this movies the first time! I can't wait to see you looking the other Jurassic Park movies, the first 2 are my favorites. But all Jurassik Park movies are very well done. Every time when i see an film reaction from you i think Oh my god, i would love it if you could do reactions from the movies Alien and Aliens! But i think you would be scared to death and i'm not sure if you could handle this, but this are 2 very iconic movies in this genre, so many people, me too, love this filmes and they did such a good job in the years 1979 Alien and 1986 Aliens, they are very well done!
    I wish you a beautiful week! See you next time! Greetings from Vienna! 🖤 Bye!

    Decent sequel he's quite interesting to see a T-Rex running through a city LOL the creatures that the beginning the little girl at the beginning consider them like jackals or hyenas they're scavengers they fight together as a team one of my favorites from the second movie! Favorite one-liners I think I spent enough time in this company of death best one-liner of the whole movie 🍿 rest in peace with the actor that says it !🤩

    The scene at 18:56 where the guy gets tossed into the air and ripped in half by the two T-rex... When I was in the theater watching this, my wife leaned over to me and whispered the lyrics "Torn between two lovers..." It was so inappropriate and hilarious.

    Enjoyed your commentary/reaction on this and Jurassic Park. If your looking for recommendations I suggest Firefly (2002 - 14 episodes, one season) was mismanaged and canceled by Fox. There was enough fan outrage that Joss Whedon wrote a 2005 movie that wraps up the short lived series.If your looking for rich character development and relationships this is one of the best. The genre is space western. Fox ran the episodes out of sequence, the proper sequence is: "Serenity" (the original pilot episode, not the movie), "The Train Job", "Bushwhacked", "Shindig", "Safe", "Our Mrs. Reynolds", "Jaynestown", "Out of Gas", "Ariel", "War Stories", "Trash", "The Message", "Heart of Gold" and "Objects in Space".

    heh... your response about not wanting the dinos to be hurt but it still killed a lot of people... i think that's the ambiguity that spielberg was going for in this movie and the previous - cuz as destructive and deadly as they are, they're not "monsters".... they're ANIMALS and all the death and destruction they cause are a direct result of the humans doing stupid things and it's not their fault.
