Brandon, that's one of the clearest explanations of a complex subject I've ever seen - I wish you'd been my art tutor (a bit unlikely, since I'm old enough to be your grandfather): what I really like about this demo is that you say 'have fun with it': too often, we forget about the fun part, and get weighed down with getting things exactly 'right'; that was the problem with the art education I had. It's a pleasure to watch your films, and I hope you keep making them - unlike one or two who sell their expertise, carefully reserving all the useful information until they've got the credit card details, you're giving your expertise away: and more power to you.
its 2023, nearly a decade later and im 21 now and starting to draw for the first time. I've been binge-watching/ drawing/learning for the past few hours and his videos have made me so much better than this morning. I've never really drawn in my life lol. Timeless education right here.
I used to be in love with drawing bc to me it's the only way that allows me to express my feelings but then I gave it up 6 years ago but always wanted to go back to it and then I found ur vids and I started drawing again and I'm like the happiest person rn and I can't tell u how grateful I am. Thank u so much for making these vids
Thank you so much for these videos, Brandon! I used to draw and paint regularly when I was younger. And yet, when I grew older I drifted further and further away from practicing art. The paralyzing fear of not getting it right, of not being perfect enough stopped me from picking up a pencil or a brush for years. Today, I found your videos and have been watching and sketching nonstop. Thank you for taking it all back to basics, it makes it so much easier for me to dive into drawing without too much anxiety. And thank you for always emphasizing that, first and foremost, this should be fun! I almost forgot that. Thank you!
you can't even understand how grateful and thankful i am to you and the content of this channel ! you really deserve a lot more attention than what you have curently ❤ all the love and support from morocco , please keep these awesome videos up 👍
Simply, thank you for your easy to follow tutoruals. Finally I am learning to draw shapes and forms and moving from hiding behind my abstract therapeutic interpretations. These tutorials are reducing my anxiety and helping with concentration. Perfectly planned and well timed knowledge based lessons. A big step for a teacher and expressive therapist to learn how to draw, so easy and fun! so again I thank you Brandon!
I was afraid of even trying to do this. You have made this so much easier for me to tackle, I followed you and I was impressed with my lines and the finished look. Brandon, thank you so very much for sharing this technique.
If you're looking at real life situations to sketch, how do you know what vanishing points are? Are there ever more than 2? P.S. these videos are beautifully explained. Thank you.
This video has been up for five years and people (hello) are still watching it. I think that says something. Thank you for the very basic help that real beginners need.
I just find out I like drawing and not to bad at it. No formal classes and you videos helps soooooooo much. Hope I catch all your training video. Thank you
Over seven years late and this is still the best tutorial on yt i could find, (and believe me when i say i searched A LOT) Great job man! You're amazing.
Im 36. In 3 weeks I have went from " I'll never be able to draw" to drawing trees and all kinds of stuff I never thought I could. Thank you for these lessons, they really helped me get over that issue and start to learn!
Thank you so much! The simple way you explain things makes it so much easier to learn and follow! I'm taking oil painting classes at a local gallery, but I love to watch your videos and I learn so much from them! Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us!! Keep up the great work! You are appreciated ! Marcie Ringo
I always thought that i didnt know how to draw. Watching these videos helped me to learn how to draw and all of these techniques. It really does help to have fun with what you draw and to draw anything that you can.
These are really good videos. You explain the ideas very well but also in a way that let's a beginner get to it right away. Thank you so much for your time and expertise!
I am very happy to see your lessons. I have always said to myself that I cannot draw, but your lessons are very helpful. And now I'm making art! Thank you! ♥
These are great, this is teaching me what art class in high school never could. I've always thought I'd never be able to draw but you've proven me wrong. Thank you so much.
You are the only person I have heard saying have fun while learning. Every one else trying to teach me, were busy making an expert out of me on something. We need to learn to enjoy life.
your videos are great, this one is my favourite so far. I have read few books about drawing and never felt such joy for drawing that I felt while drawing along your video. can you please do more videos on the topic of composition.
Perspective and shading are the things I struggle with the most... Not anymore! 'Cause I watched YOUR videos :) Thanks for the GREAT teaching, keep it up!
I used to draw like this ALL the time as a kid, wasn't a great artist so this was my only type of drawing, 8 years later and this still brings me so much joy
You are an amazing teacher. This is the first time I’ve really understood how perspective works. It was intimidating until now. Thank you so much for sharing your vast knowledge.
Another thing to try is to put the entire object below or above the horizon line. If you are drawing something like a cube, you'll be able to see either the top or the bottom - creating like a bird's eye view. Fun.
Your videos are literally an answered prayer. Finally I understand something I though I was unable to learn. Your kindness and clarity are just lovely.😍thank you so much!!
WOW. I was always intimidated by 2 point perspective in books I've read. You have made it truly intelligible. Thank you! You have a great natural style of teaching.
Thanks so much for this video! I have never taken an art class, but I have watched a few videos about two-point perspective drawing. You’re the first person to say that the vanishing point could be off the page! Brilliant! I can’t wait to try it. 😀👍
That was helpful, thanks. I knew about one point perspective but never gave much thought too much about two point. I'm looking forward to your coverage on three point perspective, hoping you cover that. You help a lot of people because you can teach it from a beginner's POV rather than some elite art school grad.
Thank you so much .I just have started for learning draw in this winter ,and I found your videos a few days ago ,they are so helpful for me . I really have fun with draw .thank you for your sharing and your kindness .
Thank you so much for this Learn To Draw series! Each video I watched so far is concise and to the point - all the explanations you give during drawing are really helpful and comprehensible. THANKS. Best wishes from Germany and please keep up the good work. Peace.
Your video helps alot, I'm glad I grew up in France we learn these basics perspective at a younger age so the first 5 videos were just like "remember" haha, can't wait to catch up to the recent content but like the others said in the comments, one sketch at a time :) Cheers sir keep it up thank you again
Your videos have given me the motivation to draw that I needed to badly!!! The techniques are explained sooo well, in a way that I’m so excited and not overwhelmed 😁😁 thank you!!!
Hey dude I know you might not see this but I have a few questions 1. The lines for the vanishing point.. Am I supposed to make them dark or light? Or erase them? 2.What am I supposed to make dark and what not? 3. Can you make a video were you do 1 and 2 vanishing points and shade the drawing? That would really help me
Thank.you Brandon, I knew somehow your explanation I would understand the concept. Thanks for your time in posting this and the others. I read so many books, watched many vids and just couldn't get it. I am very grateful for posting this, maybe I am slow or it takes someone to present the info to get it, and I knew I would if you explained it. Thank you...
Thank you very much Brandon! This is very useful information. Love your videos, I appreciate your sharing your knowledge with us. You are a kind and generous soul.
I understood more in these first 5 videos than in the 2 "basic" drawing books I bought. These so-called beginner books went into advanced techniques that they turned me off to art.
Thank you for this informative video I have a question.. if it was a one-point perspective, would the first line be below or above the horizontal line?
I've always wondered how you set up two vanishing points when they're way off the page on each side of the desk. At this point, the only thing I can think of is clearing my entire desk off, taping the paper to the desk, and then maybe sticking Post-It notes down on each side and using a yard stick to draw perspective lines on the paper. There must surely be a more sensible way to do this.
i am getting into drawings. i didn't have much time to draw this year and i was too lazy to take drawing seriously back then but anyway how do i draw a spherical object in a two points perspection? am i making sense??
