Cool video, as always :) Short and to the point. Couldn't help me with my 6s no image (waterdamage though). Turned out mine had waterdamage under chestnut (vcc_main pad was just gone) so I created a jumper and placed a new chestnut. And yay, works fine again :)
I would test the filters in ohms mode, as continuity / beep can beep even if they are bad, but if they are good they are usually 0.3-0.5 ohms, iv had them beep even at 2 ohms or more.
Any reason why you didn't take diode measurements on the 1v8 filter on the first one? It would have been nice to know if that shows something abnormal.
Aaron Harrington I've just come to know that this filter tends to fail. you're right, for the purposes of demonstration it would have been better to measure first.
Hi friend, problem was solved with copy LCD/Touch and jumpet TP06 directtly to AP_TO_LCM_RESET_L (FPC pin) was need remove FL filter. I didnt had I.C max9060 for test with OEM LCD. But i have this new problem now.. After it enter standy for some time. No more image. Just backlight is on. Need remove battery and reconect it. With USB cable connected no have this problem. 1.8v no off when in stanby
Nice job man. I've found similar partially bad filters by measuring voltage on both ends. When they partially open they act like a resistor dropping the voltage to the line
Make Stuff No I'm referring to the ferrite bead emi "filter" that acts as a fuse per say in most cases blowing and protecting other components in the circuit
mrsemifixit ahhh emi filter, choke, got it thanks. Just getting back into my electronics world and have lots of rust to remove. Thank you for replying.
i have 6s only displays Apple Logo but iTunes/3uTools normally detected, what could be the issue?.. "only displays Apple Logo" it won't goto Normal Desktop kinda weird
Why do you use diode setting on the meter to test a capacitor? Is it to inject less voltage from the meter in to the circuit? Im guessing by filter you mean capacitor?
Make Stuff diode mode is useful when diagnosing any power lines as it can be used to detect a short or open line and it gives a faster more precise reading than using resistance.
Hello Mark, I have the backlight working fine but theres no image, is it a filter or the onnector or both? if so pls send a link where i can order a new filter thanks
FreakyVines it's most likely a blown filter on the 1.8v image line. You can buy filters from digikey or mouser or maybe Jason stocks them on microsolderingsupply.com - I sell a component kit through that website that contains a strip of them along with pretty much every other component that is commonly used.
Hi Mark, great video. What are your "soldering tweezers"? Using them seems to be causing less damage than using hot air.
Love the videos, 2 solutions in 15mins that is crazy
Good job ! What the name of the Soldering iron ?

This channel is awesome. I like the commentary
Hi Great Vid, VERY HELPFUL!!!
Please can you let us know the names of the filters that you changed and where to get them? :)
A big thanks to u brother.
I found it.. Fixed it..
Big thanks to you, i never though of it, it s somethink i will never think about that conductive filter will be wrong, once again, HUGE thank.

We couldn't see the solution to the problem. Why did you feel the need to share?

mrsemifixit when you say filter, r u referring to a capacitor?

good bro
Thank you
Mark it's always the coil ;)
can i mail you my 6s? i have blown something trying to plug in a new screen.
Mark Davison sure! Just use our website www.ipadrehab.com to see our price list and request an estimate.
Thank u so much
What is the filter name?
Max Topham-Steele I call him Jim
wow. So it tested good but was still bad in the end. Now I will second guess components that test good . Thanks for nothing Mark!
Mem Baker the only time I've seen this is with filters - the 1.8v image filter most often but occasionally backlight filters as well.
i think u dont have knowledge .1st you have check dispaly 1to 6 pin .😅
hi mark
i have iphone 6 no image pls help
Fasih Abid could be a lot of things. are you sure it is no image vs no backlight vs no boot? have you checked for long screw damage?
no long screw
no image sure
back light working but no image
if u have personal email pls send me email i will send u mobile pic
