    How do you know the value of the capacitors? Incase you do not have a donor board with exact same part

    Hi, to me you are a master in micro soldering, i ca never do that, however looking at your video, i think my problem with the phone is similar to yours, black screen. I think i have a short somewhere in the screen connection and the reason is that I tried to replace a broken screen. I missed in the step the one it tells i should disconnect the battery.
    The way you do this micro soldering is amazing. I think you should use this talent for being a surgeon and make tons of money.
    For me I am going to take it to a repair store and I hope they can diagnose like and resolve the issue.

    hi, i have almost the same problem as you. the only difference is that i dont get a full short but a diode reading of 0,102. i saw that reading and i changed chestnut. but the problem persists. i think i have to change the capacitors just to rule that out. i hope it works like yours did! thanks for the quality videos!

    My iphone connects to Itunes but doesnt turn on it says its even charging but i cant get the phone on, would it be a LCD issue?

  • @themicrosolderingshop

    I have an Iphone 6 that was experiencing ghost touch. I replaced meson and cumulus after testing a known good LCD and no change in symptom. I changed both again to make sure there was no mistakes and still no change. I began testing voltages with screen attached when I noticed home button would not work... So I powered down, resat the connectors and when I powered back up again, I have a backlight but black screen. I tested with another lcd and same thing on it. It draws power, charges battery, Itunes sees it, just no image and crazy readings around Mesa and bad readings around Chestnut and Tristar.
    I changed Chestnut U1501 and U1503 along with C1501
    Getting the following:
    BL Coil is 1, Diode is .204v, resistance to ground is .507v
    VCC_Main = 4.2v
    FL2035 LCM to Chestnut and FL2036 AP to LCM Reset are good = 1.8v
    FL2095 PMU to Photon Alive = 1.8
    P17V0 Mojave _LDOIN C1501 = 3.8 (That's why I changed it and U1503, No Change)
    L1500 PP18V0_Mesa (1 and 2) = 4.2v (Another reason to have changed U1503 No Change)
    C1500 and C1503 getting 0 to crazy numbers on Voltage
    L1519-1 getting 4.2v good VCC_Main but not boosting to 6v on L1519-2 (Is why I Changed Chestnut U1501, No Change)
    C1541 = 5.1v
    FL2037 PP5V7 (C2050) ... = 5.7v
    FL2061 PN5V7... = -5.7v
    FL2027 PP1V8...= 1.8v
    C1299-1 PP3v3_ACC 3.3v missing on Tristar U1700 (Replaced Tristar with no change, Getting VCC_Main around Tigress U1401)
    I was able to restore on Itunes without errors... except I have a Backlight with no image, tested with other LCD's
    I also replaced Data Filters L2041, L2042, L2043, L2044
    any ideas?

    First, I want to say thanks for the informative video. I do have a question for you. What is the name of these chips? I opened a IPhone 6s that has the same chips blown in the exact same spot and I’m going to attempt to take the parts off a donor phone. Anyway, the proper name would be helpful so when they ask, I can explain with more detail of what’s wrong with their phone. I know they’re blown because there is burnt residue around a couple of chips.

    Thank you for your detailed video on how to diagnose and repair no display or backlight issue.
    Okay, first of all i learned a lot from the video. I have one iPhone 6s with no display or backlight. It shows up fine in iTunes and boot up. I took off the first filter which was short. The display worked. But, later that afternoon when i plug the phone back on then again no display or backlight. now when i check the other two filters they also beep (in diode mode). So, does this means that all the first 4 filters over the display connector. I am kind a lost now. I will try to remove the seconding tomorrow to further diagnose the issue, but your help will be much appreciated. Thanks

    • @Microsoldering
      @Microsoldering  6 років тому

      First, determine whether it's a backlight or no image problem by shining a flashlight in the middle of the screen. If you can see an image, then it's a backlight issue. For backlight, probe anode and cathode pins on the connector in diode mode. For no image, probe pp1v8_lcm, pp5v7, and pn5v7 pins in diode mode.

    • @informatikadi
      @informatikadi 6 років тому

      Thank you for your reply. Okay, so i was able to get a usb microscope to inspect the filters. upon close inspection i saw that backlight filter is loose and was coming off. Now, i need to put the backlight filter back on. This will be my first time to work with backlight filter. What should i consider before putting the backlight filter back again?

    Great video! The issue I am having with my 6s is I had my battery replaced, it was working fine for the past week. Lost my charger and it went completely dead. I tried every one of my friends chords, blocks, computers, and nothing turned it on. Do you think it could be the charging port? Or the screen itself? Another issue I was having was that it would be very difficult to use around 20 percent. That was after the battery was changed. Please help!

    • @Microsoldering
      @Microsoldering  6 років тому +1

      most likely the charging chip due to the use of non-apple certified cables

    • @aligieryy12
      @aligieryy12 6 років тому

      That is exactly what it is. I was in dire need of a chord and bought one from a gas station. Definitely wasn't apple certified. Thank you so much. I was looking at your link to get a quote, but I did not see anything for the charging chip. Could you post a link please?

    Can you help me? I've looked around on forums with this problem, but can't find on for my situation: No display, backlight turns on, no apple logo, no itunes connectivity.

    • @Microsoldering
      @Microsoldering  6 років тому +1

      Figure out why itunes doesn't recognize it first...so charge port and battery, then replace tristar.

    • @fantasticphil3863
      @fantasticphil3863 6 років тому

      Finally connected to iTunes! I'm guessing the charging port is sketchy.
      I was able to reset the device, but now it has an activation lock.
      I bought it on craigslist with cracked screen, but didn't realize the big difference between display working and not working, so it's locked.
      If the screen was working now, I might have been able to see a message from the owner, in case it wasn't the people from craigslist.
      Any tips?

    Hello there, I need your advice. I made the ulitmate mess up on the kids Iphone 6s. I forgot to disconnect the battery before replacing the screen, and got the screens mixed up. I then seen a small flash on the motherboard, so suspect i have blown a chip or fuse on motherboard. Now I got a brand new black screen. What kind of damage have I done? and is it a repair you can do. Thanks

    Hello, I am trying to fix a friend's iphone 6. I had fixed her battery a couple weeks ago. Then, it came back broken, unrecognizable on itunes as well. She told me tried using a fan through the chargin port. So, I tried replacing that today but it still doesn't turn on. DO you think the fan may have fried the logic board or it may be the battery?

    • @Microsoldering
      @Microsoldering  7 років тому

      Most likely the charging chip. www.microsoldering.com/request-a-quote/

      These are hard to solve. Inspect the board under a microscope for any blown capacitors. Measure diode mode for commonly faulted lines (backlight, display, some power lines). And if you don't find anything, then sell the phone.

    Hi, in the first Time thanks for the vidéo ! I ve got 0.3 for the fourth line instead of 0.39 and 0.374 instead of 0.545 for the six 'th Line. I have to deduce it s a common component bitween this 2 Line ? Or i m wrong
    Thanks u for response , u will help me very much and sorry for my english

    • @Microsoldering
      @Microsoldering  6 років тому

      I think you're on the right path. Sometimes the underlying problem is not actually that power line, but perhaps another power line connected through a filter or coil.

    • @sturflux2387
      @sturflux2387 6 років тому

      Microsoldering Ok i see so it can be lot of component :\ . I noticed there is a coil who is slightly cracked but i m don t think she ve got a impact on the blacklight.. it s the sixth from the left obove the processor! And the weard thing it s i have already change the fl4211 (destroy) and the same filter to this vidéo ( same problem) . And i Always got no image , no blacklight . Have you already have the same symptoms ?
