I just got this from amazon, and must say very impressed with the quality and how fast and easy it was to pair with my Android Phone, 1st class quality all the way.
Thanks for the review, hard to find any good reviews for these cheap products, especially when the person has owned the super cheap option and can say why it is better! keep up the good work!
Like he said, the rattling one isn't useless; it's equally competent. But the look and feel makes this a superior one. Personality goes a long way; us humans are a weird bunch.
Great review and special thanks for comparing with cheap analog! It would be nice to test it in several application, but it may tike a lot of time to adjust it to someone's needs
Exactly what I needed, I’m always decent material stuff so thanks for your recommendation, Michael. Really feel you when you shake the cheap device, very hilarious. I just wish they didn’t sell with the cheap tripod and phone clamp, will become garbage anyway. Will use your affiliate link like a thank.
I have a iPhone 11 Pro. Can the Zodiac take a picture if the phone is at idle? I plan on mounting my iPhone 11 Pro on my motorcycle. If I see a good shot I want to just hit the remote, hanging from my jacket, and take a picture. I do not want to pull over, take off my gloves, wake up the phone, go to the photo app and then take a picture.
Chris Blair Chris, other than the examples of using the remote with my iPhone, I used a camcorder to make the video. Having said that, I use the remote shutter release very frequently. It has made all the difference in the world especially for getting group shots or putting myself or someone else into the scene of the photo and being able to take the shot without physically touching the iPhone. It’s such a handy accessory to have.
I hope you are happy with your purchase given the costs involved. It seem like such a simple device ( a remote shutter for smartphones) that could be made well for not that much cost, but most of what I've seen have been absolutely garbage. This is better than many, that's for sure.
Michael, I can't figure out how to mount my cell phone. Your video didn't actually show that. How does the cell phone after you put on the bracket, actually attach to the tripod?
You replace the 1/4" mount with the spring loaded clip that your phone goes into. Remove the 1/4 mount using the thumbscrew on the side of the stand. Once the 1/4" mount is removed slide the spring loaded into the same slots that the 1/4" mount was in, replace the thumbscrew and you're good to go.
Thanks Micheal! Great review! I appreciate it! Do you like your iPhone? I have a cheap LG phone but I want to upgrade to an IPhone. I have an IPad and I love it! Also I want to transfer to Xfinity for my cell service and I have to upgrade to a newer IPhone. I want all my services with Xfinity. I don’t like Android products.
@@michaelerbreviews tv remote does not make such noise, when we record video.. it clearly noticed.. A teleprompter remote must not make any noise otherwise it's notied and disturb the viewers..
AAKS Well yes, there is a mechanical click. That is unavoidable unless you have the remote in your pocket which will muffle the sound. I don’t know of any remotes similar to what I reviewed that are completely silent. I thought you were referring to the camera shutter click from the smart phone.
It works with S4, S5, S6, and S10. I have tried it with all of these phones, it works with Huawei, with iPhone 8, 8+ iPhone X. I have tested it with the above phones. It should also work on the newer phones, I even tried it on the S4 mini. It worked just fine.
Shame they don't do selfie remote controls that can zoom in and out, it does everything but the zooming. I have been searching the internet looking for a remote that does the zooming but in vain.

To the point, short, well presented, well articulated. Thank you. Just what I was trying to find.

I have this questions too, is it possible to use it when the iPhone is idle?
Michael could you advice please what is the maximum distance that "face focus" will work with the Zodiac? 3m? Many thanks in advance!
Face Focus is a function of your phone’s camera and I don’t know what that distance is. The zodiac is merely the remote shutter release.
@@michaelerbreviews thank you. Have a great day!
Excellent video - I wonder if you used your iPhone and the Zodiac remote to create this video?
Thanks for your help.

thanks from Germany, just ordered one after your video. Ok, shipping is close to the price of the item but I hope it is worth the $$$

I'm having no luck getting this to work? done everything on instructions, any suggestions
Work with what? iPhone, Android, something else?
@@michaelerbreviews thanks after numerous times i got it going. can't wait to see if it works on a new project
@@drduck Good to hear you got it connected.
Is there any indication that the recording is in progress?
No, this is simply a remote trigger for the camera.
Help. Device will pair, but not connect. Looks like it might be a bad investment
Well not sure what to say other than every product made has a percentage of defects. Maybe you just got a dud. Warranty should cover that.
Thank you, really informative.
Glad it was helpful!

Barbara Johnson I do like my iPhoneXR. Great camera and excellent battery life.
Has anyone tried to replace the battery? I can't open the container to be able to do it. Push & slide isn't working.
It's finicky but it will open using the gentle push and slide technique.
Is there any which doesn't make noise when we press remote button?
AAKS The noise is caused by the smart phone, not the remote. You simply have to silence your smart phone.

Can you pause and resume the video recording?
not on my iPhone. It activates the shutter just like if you were using your finger instead of the remote shutter release.
Will this work for iPhone 11

Awesome where can I get one

Can it pause and restart video recording
No. It will only start or stop recording. If you stop then start, it will be a new video, not a resume of previous video.
Can't get it to pair
