I was in Austell today 4-4-21 doing some filming. A few nice catches with a heritage unit on one and a yellow-face NS helping pull a manifest that included a bright blue switcher locomotive on a flat car.
Just came home here in Mableton, GA from 'honey-do' mission in Lithia Springs, GA via Vets Mem Hwy. I usually turn by Barnes Hardware to go over the railroad tracks especially when trains are running. Which is usually always the case on Saturday. And for sure a long one was traveling west to east. So, I made my turn and drove to Floyd Rd. but when at the intersection of Floyd and Fontaine Rds, police and fire working a car-truck accident, directed traffic back down to Floyd. So, I ended up going eastward to Cooper Lake Rd made a left on to CLR and drove to Nickajack Rd. made a left and at the RXR -- another long train traveling east to west this time. When I started my truck's engine to continue along Nickajack Rd (I live in the Glenleigh S/D off of Nickajack) . I noticed someone with a tripod and camera. Made me think of mbmars01 -- just to let you know.
Nice, but it wasn't me. I haven't been in the area for quite a bit. There's usually a lot of of folks out there, because it is one of the few lines in GA with a very high density of trains.
Yay thank goodness so happy you posted glad you back and these Freight carriages had 60 wagons or 80 wagons looking fantastic especially Pacific National shifting really good
The footage of 22G starting 19:57 is actually in Austell. You were filming from alongside the siding that the Alabama Division local used to service C&S Chemicals. Not sure if they are still open for business, as it's been 7 years since I frequented the area, but it was always a fascinating operation.
You're absolutely right, of course. This is a copy'n'paste error, unfortunately. The second catch of 22G is in Mableton, though. The track to that chemical company in Austell looks like it hasn't been used in a long time, so I would guess this is yet another customer gone.
On the day you filmed these trains, 1/9/2021, I managed to see a manifest in Downtown Dallas, that had an SD70ACe blowing lots of black smoke. It was incredible! Great catches!
I think I know which train you mean. It was probably one of those I filmed at Hiram, which didn't want to start moving after being held there for another train..
I wish the KCS had been leading, but, yes, we better catch every "Belle" we still can... From a railfan's perspective, I'm not so happy about the merger news.
It's always good to see non-CSX locomotives on your channel. The black stallions and pumpkins all looks great here. And because I'm a UP fan I really love their engines too. The locations are very good, there are no distractions and we can see the trains coming and going. This is an excellent and entertaining video. Thank you for your effort. :)
That's right. West Georgia often sees foreign power, because of the major interchange hubs in Birmingham and also through Chattanooga; both lines connect to the Atlanta North Terminal. It's nice you enjoyed this collection of interesting trains!
Well, yes, the major advantage of Austell/Mableton is the traffic density, which makes them nice train watching spots. Although I usually finally like the footage I get from there, I always feel a bit squeezed in between trains and highway, and long shots are rather difficult.
@@mbmars01 I do also feel squeezed in, I dont normally go for long shots because the picture/video doesn't always turn out as great on how i was expecting
There will be something like a part 2 coming soon, but more from the hilly, rural areas along the Atlanta North District. Austell and Mableton are very busy places, but I like the quiet locations much more.
Yah This Line Is Great and no I don't Remember
Awesome video nice catches.vr good
Cool, thanks!
😍😍😍
Looks like you enjoyed it :)
Super film!

That's very cool! I know there's almost always something interesting coming by in Austell.
Excellent captures
Cool, thanks!
The KCS #4007 is my personal favorite. A very nice paint scheme.
I also like the paint scheme. I wish the KCS ACe had led.
Great video!
Thanks!
Always nice to hear some classic EMD's at work. Those long containers balanced on top of short ones like at 2:35 always make me slightly nervous
Haha, I know, but these stacks look particularly impressive.
Nice catch ! full screen and I watch !
Very cool!
Awesome video can’t wait to go here sometime is there always that much foreign power going through there
Thanks. Yes, there's usually foreign power on some of the trains, because this line connects Atlanta to NS interchange points with other railroads.
@@mbmars01 thanks for the information keep up the good work

Looks like some hills. Very nice video.
Cool, thanks!
Love it so much keep it up
Very cool! Great you enjoyed it!
Enjoyed the video. Great catches. Hope you are doing well.
Awesome, thanks! I'm fine - I hope you are doing well, too!

Classic EMD power, gotta love those SD40-2s
Absolutely. Though I was surprised, because the train was a bit too long for two SD40-2s.
I was thinking the same thing. I was expecting at least three engines. Great video as always!
Fine video great action
Thank you!
Yay thank goodness so happy you posted glad you back and these Freight carriages had 60 wagons or 80 wagons looking fantastic especially Pacific National shifting really good
Yeah, it's good to have a new video out again :) Some of the trains were actually much longer than 80 cars.

Nice variety of foreign motive power! The KCS power was really cool, looks like KCS is close to being absorbed by CP Rail.Great video!

Terrific catches/power/meets! It is awesome seeing the BNSF engines!
I was very happy that the meets worked so well. Not a single engine got blocked out. I'm always worried about it on double-track sections.
@@mbmars01 Your Welcome! Cool! I really enjoy seeing trains meet, but don’t like it when they block the other train out.
Bro that horn of NS #4381 sounded cool ngl
Yes, indeed.
Great video bro.
Nice, thanks, Boris!
Oh man that first clip of Amtrak #45, that horn is MEAN! I bet it sounded amazing in person. Glad your back man!
I know what you mean. To me, horns sound always mean in the crisp early morning hours... :)
Nice catches, i caught NS 8101 for my first heritage unit 2 weeks ago on 153
Cool, thanks! Awesome! 8101 is still my favorite NS heritage unit.

Awesome! Excellent video with lots of action. Excellent video.
This is a good location for catching trains, one of the best in GA, for sure. Thanks, great you like the video!
Love the new intro. Lots of action and cool catches. Thanks for posting.
Great! You're welcome!
Nice!

Yeah, it's been a while that I posted a video from this hot spot in Georgia. Despite the weather, it was great fun again. Good you like the video!

Mbmars 01 which train is your favorite?
I particularly like watching military trains with vehicle loads. They always look different.
Actually 11A originates out of brosnan yard in Macon And then he goes to Alabama.
nice sweet catches
Thanks, Phillip!
@@mbmars01 your welcome
What camera do you use?
I currently use a Panasonic WXF1 camcorder.
Great video MB, love your PTZ style! Mableton has wheel squeal curves.
Cool, thank you! The spot in Mableton is not my most favorite ever, but the curves are great and the sound of the squealing wheels as well. Love it.
Yay you posted again and btw if you remember Mary Castle I been using my moms account until I made my own still love your videos man 👍
Cool, great you keep watching the videos here! I'm glad you like them :)
