  • A basic tutorial to get the Telemetry activated with hobbywing, Spirit, Spektrum.
It provides useful data including realtime Amp draw, voltages, RPM, ESC temperature,
I test accuricy against an optical digital tach and its very accurate
**I didnt cover it in the video but you need a small 2 wire lead to interface between the esc and the spirit FBL unit
    store.spirit-s... **
I made mine using an old sattelite cable,
Hope you find this useful please let me know in the comments,

Great video. For safety you can attach the tachometer to a sturdy thin rod on one end with some duck tape and stick the other end of the rod in the ground till it doesn’t wobble. And then place the helicopter so that the blades pass over the tachometer lens.

Hey mate you are probably aware of this, but you don't even need a RX. just run a SRXL2 satellite. cut the 4 pin off and put servo plugs on and run it to the rud port and the ELE/PIT/AIL port. telemetry to SAT 1 as usual and then you can also add another satellite into SAT 2 if you want. Thats how I have mine setup (As per spirits instructions) and its flawless. Full telemetry on everything and no bulky RX needed. Also gives you the option to change the Spirit FBL setting from the transmitter, so no need to take a laptop to change anything. its fantastic. I run Spirits on a Trex 650X, Raw 420 and building a Raw 580 also with a spirit GT.

Yes I use that setup on my 550X, I opted for the receiver type on the larger models to use the voltage telemetry and separate sattelites for greater signal strength, I still use my receiver in Srxl2 fashion, Just with some extra telemetry

@@danieljohnston1111 by voltage telemetry, do you mean bec voltage or flight pack voltage? I get flight pack voltage voice call outs on my transmitter. I normally land at 44V on 12s or 22V on 6s. I know that's a little conservative. but it keeps my packs in good health :)

@@ShadowtheRagdoll ahh that's a new method, iv only read up on the telemetry wiring for a normal Srxl2 receiver, I will try and get my 550X speaking telemetry then with your advise, many thanks mate

@@danieljohnston1111 if you need any help, feel free to let me know. its pretty straight forward though. SRXL2 satellite into the ports as we talked about above. A telemetry wire from the P port on the ESC to the SAT 1 port, Set the spirit RX type as SRXL2 and set the ESC type in the advanced tab on the spirit and all works great. On your transmittier just change 1 of the telemetry options to volts. go into that menu tell it what cell count you have and set your min voltage then enable voice call outs and the frequency of the call outs. :)

I have close to same setup. Trex 550X, Spirit GT, Spektrum NX10. My RPM telemetry is not reading right, something like 52. I have poles and ratio set same in both Spirit and Tx. Long thought it might be the double values messing with the read out. This confirms my hypothesis. Will change my Tx setting like yours. Hope that solves my problem. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. Very helpfull!!

Brilliant, glad it's helped you what ESC are you using? I was hoping to get the rest of my fleet speaking but they run align / hobbywing esc but don't seem to have any telemetry date output, must be just hobbywing?

It is the super combo and all stock. So the Align RCE-BL100A Brushless ESC. Use the Telem UNI cable as it is just a rebranded HW V4. Works great and get all nessecary telemetry

Wanted to report back this was the fix! RMP now reads correct and confirmed viewing the logs. Fellow flyer at the club was having same problem. We changed his Tx settings and his now works too. Thanks again for taking the time to make this video. Cheers
