    I started with the 1st gen rx-a1000, about 8-9 years ago, not 1 issue. Moved it upstairs to replace an old onkyo on my living room setup and upgraded to the rx-a3080 for my theater. Great products. Anyway, I wanted to mention that I think the “click” you referred to is the receiver turning off unused channels, for instance in a 5.1 setup it will check for surround back channels and turn them off, then move on. If we’re talking about the same thing...

    • @viperflyer
      @viperflyer 2 роки тому +2

      Yes. The clicking noise is made by electromechanical switches called "relays".

    All I know I've had this head unit since 2008. I've finally had a chance to open it up and Experiment. Thanks to the divorce I've had time to savor the flavor. The Athena's never sounded so robust. The home while unfortunately empty, is filled instead with, thanks to YPAO, soothing warmth. Remember that the piano has two colors of keys, white and black.

    With atmos movies, try using enhanced dsp, it's next level when it comes to atmos, yamaha developed it specifically for atmos, John Wick movies really put it to the test.

    Great video. Unfortunately what in struggling with currently is the fact that ypao parametric eq doesn't support anything below like 30hz for my subs and mine definitely go below 30hz. Also what's strange to me is ypao is eqing the left and right floor speakers differently. It seems to sound better with the through setting overall.

    • @mwrightinsurance
      @mwrightinsurance 2 роки тому +1

      You really shouldn’t need to EQ below 30 Hz those frequencies are omnidirectional and can’t really be localized. In regards to the Ypao I’ve had to run it many different times trying out different Mic positions and ended up taking all eight measurements never moving the microphone more than 2 feet from any other given position, they have instructions for this in the manual that you can download and it seemed to work pretty good for me however because it doesn’t eq the low frequency to my liking I moved on to REW and umik-1. The left and right front speakers being different can be due to sidewall distances and even furniture layout like if you have a couch on one side of the room and not the other.

    Welcome to the Yamaha family of awesome sound and awesome reliability. The flexibility of changing high frequency gains is a life saver for my aging ears. Can you please tell me how is your experience with changing sub layout from mono to left+right? Also, I haven't switched to Atmos yet, do you really think it's adding a useful dimension? I don't hear much difference with height presence channels vs 7.2 setup on my CX-A5000 (without Atmos). Wondering if I should upgrade.

    Why did you put center crossover at 90 and heights at 100? How does this effect the sound quality? I also have Yamaha receivers and always kept crossovers at 80. Maybe I have been doing something wrong?

    • @TheRafcave
      @TheRafcave  5 років тому +1

      It's experimental. Before when I had my Onkyo, I had to raise the crossover to 90hz to get a cleaner dialog out of the speaker. But now with the Yamaha It sounds better so I may go back to 80hz. The heights I want to have very little bass so they become more crisp with higher Hz.

    • @mattgiunt
      @mattgiunt 5 років тому

      I have two home theater systems setup and in my bigger living room my center at times is muffled a bit for movie dialogue. So if I go up to 90 as a crossover perhaps that might clean up my dialogue?@@TheRafcave

    Hello, I have Yamaha RX-V685 Amplifier connected to my Harman Kardon HKTS 9 Speakers & 1 Harman Kardon Subwoofer.
    The issue is that the dialouges delivery goes quiet low for which I have to increase the sound level way beyond but than all of a sudden, those background sound effects of punch & firing as an example make extreme amount of noise & I have to immediately get the volume level down so that people around don't get disturbed due to fiercely background noise that it creates.
    But if I bring the volume down than again dialouges cannot be heard at all so increase the volume thus throwing this issue into a continuous loop.
    What could be the issue & solution to it? I haven't done the YAPO though....
