I have a Waikiki session booked - if it goes well, I will book another for intermediate. I know people say to take big boards but I really want to practice on my 4' 6".. it is 32L and I only weight 65kg so hopefully it will be enough volume
Ive never seen the waikiki wave but I think it,s a longboard wave..the one in waikiki is....I think I would struggle on a 4 foot board but but its worth a try on one of the more advanced waves..you can always leave a spare board near the pool in case you dicide to switch mid session..Thats something I sould have done..I think the wave is alot better tweaked from when I was there..Ive seen other footage since and it seems to have a much better consistant face on it now
Thanks grom..ahh..I think you be fine on the advanced wave ..you popup and go down the line fine and you probably have much better cardio and fitness..i probably make it look more difficult than it is.
Positioning is really important for taking off in the pool huh! So easy to miss waves when they come from no where and are moving fast. Did you find the advanced plus much different?
I think my switching of boards was a bad idea.. The wave seemed to have a little bit more to it but still seemed to have a fat section before it walled up again..Still had to be exactly in the right position to catch it...The wavepool you surfed seemed alot faster and heavyer probably even harder to catch.
@@joshtraceysurfing yea theres what they call the expert wave that barely barrels and its almost impossible to catch an open slot..it gets booked out quickly
Its a headmount strap but its modified with a little neoprene for padding so I can put it in my mouth..on this one my hood is down and its a little uncomfortable on the head so I have it in my mouth.
Damn this wave look very peculiar, look like it’s soft at take off then become quickly hollow right after , so you have to paddle hard and quickly angle. Maybe you will do better next time.
Yea it is an odd wave..it,s no kelly slaters surf ranch..I cant remember how I did but I remember the last session the day after was the most enjoyable one
Again I admire your resilience, however you did get a sick wave in the end, respect 🤙🤙👊
thanks man..)

Sick video! The waves looked quite fun but obviously hard to catch defo wanting to go there now, probably stick to the intermediate wave tho 🤣🤙
