    There were a few mistakes during that fitting which I would like to point out! Firstly, I would have used superglue to attach the frame. Then instead of ordinary mortar, I would suggest a strong flour and egg based dough to fill the cracks. But what do I know... I work in an office! 😂😂😂 Just playin! top job and I like the door too looks sick 😉👍🏼

    That mastic seal is a hell of a lot smoother than the mess out installers left behind. They certainly didn't use tape, or smooth it down I watched them do it.

  • @KSV2themoonandback

    Very well done, looks great. We had composite door installed recently and its bowed 3mm banana shape. It rattles when its being shut and gapes in top corner until you pull up the handle to lock it makes slight difference. Installer says its in tolerance with manufacturer regulations (below 3 mm), but we think its not good enough. And the installers didn't put any mortar at all and badly cut out the plaster board around the door frame no idea why. Also the silicone job is not as good as what you have done in the video. Gaps on the inside are irregular, which makes me think looking at this one, that our slab was made smaller on the width.

    • @GMWindowsDoorsLtd
      @GMWindowsDoorsLtd  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for input 3mm is within tolerance to be fair
      The gaps being irregular on the inside is not a good sign at all though!

    • @KSV2themoonandback
      @KSV2themoonandback 7 місяців тому

      The gap on the right is 8 mm is it normal to able to see the locking mechanism? On the left gap is irregular smaller, top and bottom are minimal hardly any gaps, at the bottom the door scrapes the rubber draft excluder. What should I bring up with the installer to fix? He already came back to adjust the hinges so the bowed gaps are slightly less but made the gap on the left irregular narrow on bottom and wider towards the top. I contacted Endurance the manufacturer but have had no response.@@GMWindowsDoorsLtd

    Did you measure off the sill to the underside of the brick work at the top of the door and then take off 10mm to get the correct hight of the door?
    Just to clarify my understanding.
    Can’t wait to see more work 👍

    • @GMWindowsDoorsLtd
      @GMWindowsDoorsLtd  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi mate so you measure from underneath the current cill or the DPC and then to the external lintel and yes take off 10mm
      If your using low aluminium threshers you may sometimes need to take off more than this so you can pack it up so it clears the internal floor
      Nice one

      I'm a fitter turned installation manager turned surveyor & I've been in the window game for 38 years. I'm honest if anything but I know the industry inside out. Your video shows you to be very very professional - sheeting up, vac being used throughout, masking off before pointing & sealing neatly but the rib removal is a no no. Great that you made it work/fit & it saved the surveyors blushes, but an allowance should have been made to prevent the dreaded de-rib. What was the foaming cleaner that you were using?
