  • Fear of death through an experience when she was only eight, set Tess off on a journey to find the meaning of life. After 30 years of inquiry into her mind and experience she woke up to find there was NO SELF. From reading the work of Saint Teresa of Avila and through her personal experience, Tess has come to see that the most difficult obstacle on one's own path is the overcoming of self-esteem. She also believes that taking full responsibility for your own Awakening will set us free.

44:20 non-event of mind/ego collapsing and what remains is wholeness. Beautiful and honest account of her seeking-experience before that. Thank you for sharing. ❤️

My ego made me fall asleep during this last night, but I rewound and finished this morning. I truly wish this non-event would happen here. Thanks for the insights.

What a beautiful account of one woman's movement toward realization. I loved what she said about the gold jewelry in different shapes--it's not the shape but what it's made out of.

Great interview, and some thought provoking concepts discussed, but I doubt very much her ego has really gone, mainly because she never mentioned anything about seeing things as they really are, as are found throughout the teachings of Buddhism, to come upon this truth is a very humbling experience, she never mentioned anything about this, or how wrong she'd been about the way she saw herself and the world she lived in before or after her transformation, there is just so much more she didn't say which suggests to me she's deluded herself into believing she given up her ego, it takes an extraordinary clarity of mind to penatrate layers and layers of falsehood that are firmly entrenched within our minds, only a long and disciplined practice of meditation can reveal the ultimate reality as explained by the Buddha, and even he says in the union of the two truths, the I remains, but you'll know and fully understand it's nothing more than an illusion imputed upon the mind and body, with this knowledge which is Nirvana, you can never ever be influenced by it again, instead your influenced only by the supreme good heart which is love and compassion, and this becomes the prime motivation of all actions and activities after attaining full liberation or enlightenment, which is Buddhahood, but none the less it was an interesting discussion

I believe there is also the path of rebirth and awakening to the true nature of the soul in the path of liberation that Jesus established by way of the cross, which is the journey of death of the ego through surrender and awakening rebirth into the eternal unconditional love of God, which is beyond opposites and at the same time unites the field of opposites in unconditional love, which has no opposite to its divine nature. I share these Biblical teachings on my blog: www.handofgrace.com Jesus said in John 8:31,32,34,35,36 that if we remain in His word we will know the truth (of being) and the truth will set us free from sin and death, which actually is the illusion of the ego as a separate entity from the unity of life and from the eternal presence of unconditional love, which is the source of all that is. Jesus said that "whom the son sets free is free indeed." Jesus was born and incarnated in divine Buddhahood. He is referred to in the Bible as "the Word made flesh" and referred to Himself as the eternal "I Am." (John 1:1 and 8:56-58). His teachings, life, death, and resurrection became the Path to liberation that He gave to mankind. He gave Himself. There is so much more to share on all this so please visit my blog. ;)

I completely agree with you, Strake750......what she had was an awakening, but is NOT yet Enlightened........after one has that initial awakening or initial enlightenment, there is further spiritual development to do, though there is "no one" (no inherently existing "self" or "person") to do it. What remains of the ego, and hence, delusion and ignorance, must be eradicated before one is truly "done" or "finished". In Zen Buddhism, they emphasize this point a lot. This "post-awakening practice" takes many years.......I am guessing anywhere between 8 to as much as 15 or 20 years, as was the case with both Ramana Maharshi and Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, before they were truly "done" or "finished", and thereby, fully and completely Enlightened/Awakened/Self-Realized.
This is also the case in other traditions of Buddhism as well, as is the case with Dzogchen - a tradition within Tibetan Buddhism. The spiritual teacher, Adyashanti, has warned against this error as well, in terms of prematurely claiming oneself to be "done" or "finished" and is still doing so even today.
But yes, you are ABSOLUTELY correct in what you say here. Namaste!

Not agree. Clearly the ego disappeared as she describes as a non-event. After that, no more before/after, right/wrong. "It was always like this"-experience. Nothing happened, only something stopped: the mind/ego. Reminds very much of Tony Parsons account of this non happening and what remains.

without decisive insight, there is just more and more 'talk'
Ideas have a limited shelflife.they are endless.by nature dualistic.
the end of suffering is not an idea merely.it is the unfolding of natural laws.palpable and switched from ideation as primary to view.

About doing God's will, believing is an act that takes place in the believer. With that in mind, it may become obvious Who it is that believes in Himself that He is God, even while in our human appearance. That it is doing the will as well as the work of God according to the mystic Augustine. It is God consciously loving Himself in merciful Self recognition, as follows:
"But what is "If any man be willing to do His will"? It is the same thing as to believe. All men indeed perceive that "shall know" is the same thing as "shall understand:" but that the saying, "If any man be willing to do His will," refers to believing, all do not perceive; to perceive this more accurately, we need the Lord Himself for expounder, to show us whether the doing of the Father's will does in reality refer to believing. But who does not know that this is to do the will of God, to work the work of God; that is, to work that work which is pleasing to Him? But the Lord Himself says openly in another place: "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent." John 6:29
    Tractate 29 §6 (John 7:14-18).
"The devil believes, but does not love: no one loveth who doth not believe.
One may, indeed, hope for pardon who does not love, but he hopes in vain; but no one can despair who loves. Therefore, where there is love, there of necessity will there be faith and hope; and where there is the love of our neighbor, there also of necessity will be the love of God. For he that loveth not God, how loveth he his neighbour as himself, seeing that he loveth not even himself? Such an one is both impious and iniquitous; and he that loveth iniquity, manifestly loveth not, but hateth his own soul."
    ~Augustine, Tractate 83 §3 (John 15:2-12)
"And when He comes, He will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because they do not believe in Me."
    ~John 16:9
"To him that believes in Him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." Romans 4:5 This is the work in which we may be doing the works of Christ, for even our very believing in Christ is the work of Christ. It is this He works in us, not certainly without us.
    ~Augustine Tractate 72 §2 (John 14:10-14)

    Hi Renate
I have only recently found conscious tv for a second time. This time it feels right.
I love this interview with Tess, I think that my previous conscious tv had been male dominated and this was refreshing to hear the feminine.
www.georgiespeaceofheaven.co.uk is my own journey. I feel that I am still missing that final breakthrough- I live in the uk, south coast - can you recommend any form of teacher or do you think I have to wait until I have more quality time for myself.
    Always with love
