Processing mud to Pottery Clay

This is my back woods way of processing my own clay for pottery using items found around the house. This process works for any dirt you dig up.
Upper Black River / Trenton formation bentonite found near river right above the Chickamauga Dam, Tennessee. It is green, calcareous, and shaley. Fired to an orange color at cone 04, a small sample melted at cone 6.
