Larry, Moe and Curly
Soitainley !!! knyuck, nyyuck, knyuck......
Absolutely!!!
The most iconic trio ever... Huey, Dewey and Louie.
Alvin, Simon, Theodore 😄🐿 “OKAY!!!!”
Curly Mo and Larry
Add a wavemaker. Kaveman Aquatics swears by them and Cichlid Bros also use them. It keeps the debris circulating so it finds the filter intake.
Wow John you're too kind! I appreciate the supportive words. And I bet those Sicce pumps are really gonna make your life easier with the 360! :)
Lucky, dusty and ned - the three amigos
Huey, Lewis, and the News.
Darryl, Hall, John, and Oates.
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer.
Fleetwood and Mac.
You get the picture :)
It looks really great! It nice that you share some of your woes with us. I don’t expect perfect tanks, but it would always be nice if we could make things just a little easier. Those fish are gorgeous. Even the bicher’s .
Never forget that your audience is mostly people who have aquariums - we know that they don't always look perfect and that doesn't mean that you aren't taking care of them! :) The 360 is awesome! "Dead nuts quiet" - that an industry term?? rofl
Try water movement with wavemakers. Makes wonders for me
Best video by you guys in a while thank you for letting me live vicariously through your channel 😊😊😊😊
I may be wrong but a 8'x2'x2' aquarium is more like 240 gallons, not 300+. If it was like 30" high it would be closer to 300 gallons, and Custom Aquariums even list their 300 gallon as 96"x24"x30".
I ran the math several times and came up with 240 too (2x2x2 is 60 for easy calculations) I think it might be 3 feet front to back instead and that would make 360.
Bubble, Blossom and Buttercup! 😂
I use a high pressure outside hose to really blast clean the filter socks.
I thought I put mc hammers speedo behind me, thanks John. Love the channel as always, podcast as well. The best to you and family.
How about naming your Oscars Larry, Curley and Moe!!😅
Thank you so much for mentioning the ever so controversial subject in this video. So many people need this clarification in the hobby. I've watched your Tank Talk/Videos with Jason from Prime Time Aquatics and it all makes sense. Anyway, nice upgrade with your tank. It looks really good! Great upload! Oh, and I instantly thought Larry, Curly, and Moe lol.
If you use a wider clear suction vacuum with 3/4 inch siphon hose you can vacuum large areas fast
@0:35 I think you mean 8x3x2 .. I know it’s not my tank but I’m pretty sure you’ve said so in the past, plus it comes out to 360 gallons and 8x2x2 is only 240. Cheers :)
Like the work on the tank and suggestions. My Oscar (when I get them) will be BAMF. For your three - Wednesday, Pugsley, Lurch? Rosenbaum, Hackmen, Reeve? Joker, Harley Quinn, Ivy?
Hewey, Dewey & Louis (the robots from 'Silent Running'😁
That's also the names of Donald ducks nephews
@@duzmano8161 I know, I was going for the more science-fictiony reasoning for the names.😉
Holy crap...as soon as I heard you say "Pumps and a Sump", that very song popped into my head. 10 seconds later, and you're talking about it.
Nice work! I’m sure you’ve tried this before but I figure why not share my success. I have my two returns at the surface allllll the way to the right and as they return they push water left across the surface. I then I have a wave maker on the left side pushing water left to right along the substrate. This keeps a counter clockwise rotation going in my tank. I then have my 2 intakes staggered. One at about mid water and the other 2 inches off the substrate. This dramatically helped with any floating debris. Just figured I’d share
I hadn't heard of that song before this video, so I searched it, but John... whatever was MC talking about? I can't figure it out 🤔😳😆🤣
I had the same issue with my 240. Big fish constantly kicking up particulates. Filtration was a 48" sump. I added not 1 but 2 FX6's and while it did help it still didn't give me the crystal clear, particulate free look I wanted. What did work...virtually overnight was adding 2 Tidal 110's stuffed with poly-fil. I change the poly-fil weekly. A few days after I added the 110's I removed 1 of the FX6's and the tank is still crystal clear. Of course I still get particles when the fish get the zoomies but it is cleared super fast. Just a thought.
Huey, Dewey and Louie
Lmao as you mentioned pumps in a sump I was singing the hammer song. Lmao 😂 I was rolling! (1973 here 😜). Great video I have a tank with two Oscars and it is very high maintenance. I appreciate what you did here.
Alvin Simon Theodore 🤣🤣
Huey, dewey and louie perhaps? Or maybe mickey, donald and goofy? 😄
Kirk, Spock and Bones. I'm not just a fish geek.
End of the video is satisfying looking at the water being so clear and the fish swimming well. It's an amazing feeling when you clean the aquarium, you get it what I am saying!?
Loved your channel for quite a few years! The videos are amazing!
Some brands of filter refills instruct to always wash the sponges in tap water (Sicce Shark Pro is one of such brands) and some advise to only wash in tank water (Fluval, i think), so it gets really confusing as to which brand is offering the right advice. Thanks for clearing that up!
100% there with you on Hammer.
Walter, Jesse and Saul
I enjoy watching your channel. I have owned salt and freshwater fish for 60 years. Usually 4-5 tanks ranging from 50-125 gallons Big fish like big dogs require more maintenance. Major water changes weekly really helps. All my tanks have emperor(pentair) uv sterilizes typically way higher what the recommendations. My 125 has a 50 watt and everything else less than 125 25 watts. The water is always crystal clear with no slight green tinge to the water. Fish swimming in air. I really believe helps keep disease down and better algae control. Sumps are the best. The largest you can fit under the tank or place it further away. My 125 has a 40 gallon sump for example. You can easily see the condition of filter socks. So easy to clean every 4-6 days. Food starts to decay in 3-4 days. It may not be decaying in your display tank but still decaying in your sump which is the same water. Canister filters are a pain as you must take apart taking more time and thus less frequent servicing and food continues to decay making the water look terrible. I have always wanted to add an automated continuous water changer but never got around to it. With sumps it would be very easy and not noticeable. Water changes are never fun. Heavy feeding means even more water changes no matter what size tank.
With your 360 gallon tank you need at least a 125 gallon sump. Your sump looks very undersized for your tank
I can stir my gravel to release debris. My tank takes 30 minutes to clear

I someday will have a tank like yours 🤗
I always clean my filters under the sink, never has been an issue. 100x faster and easier to do, like you said it’s not soaking in chlorine, prime time aquatics made a video debunking the myth about it killing off your bacteria in huge amounts
I have been following you for like 5 years and every time I see this tank I am impressed it looks great to me
Moe, Larry and Curly (come on Paul, CAD and John, you can do better. I applaud your suggestion, but get the order right, sheesh) The Stooges are always a solid choice when naming a trio of Oscars.
And if Lisa ever lets me buy you that Bumblebee Oscar, there's always Shemp... or Cuely Joe (but I'd stick with Shemp).
Thank you for that! My OCD was kicking in! LOL...........No "Curley Joe" though!
Being a major movie fan, other than Oscar the Oscar, I do a search in IMDB for names containing Oscar. As in Oscar Hammerstein II, the other half of Rogers and Hammerstein. He was a beautiful albino oscar, and I called him Hammy. I have a tiger oscar in my office called Isaac, after Poe Dameron from the most recent Star Wars Trilogy, etc. I’m having fun with it. 😊
I adore those big poop machines🤣🩷Oscars are my favorite.
John, u make me so nervous watching you standing on the top of that step stool!! Please buy one of those w a wide top platform. I have one and they do feel much more stable.
Walter, Jesse, and Saul 😂
Sticking the 90’s theme of the video, Tony, Toni, Toné.
For the oscars you could do the 3 extinct tiger species: Caspian, Bali, Javan.
How about Martini and Rossi. It’s a popular drink.
Freed,Wilma,Velma,shaggy,Scooby-doo you can pick 3 from this lot
I have a 45? Tall? Or something around there with a huge stump in the middle. I made a spray bar and pointed it the side wall / down. It creates a current at the bottom that pushes debris across the bottom and under the stump. Over to the one side for easy access. One fx6 doing that and one near the surface for current with both intakes ont the other side could be badass for that tank :)
Snap,crackle, and pop
PERFECT NAME FOR ONE - Flipper
Great video
Pumps in the sump pumps in the sump!
Quint, Hooper and Brody
You should go Nordic for the names imo
Moe, Larry and Curly!
Your boy Jason rinses sponges. I trust his opinion
Emmy, Grammy & Tony 'Oscars' 😆
Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli
Larry, Mo, Curly
Athos Porthos and Aramis. AKA the 3 Musketeers
Every little ting she gonna be alright mon! Don't worry!
Huey Louie and Dewey 👍
Lock stock and barrel.
So watching this and remembered I need to clean my tank as well so did so and found that my Cory cats had babies and didn’t even know 🫣
Larry, Curly & Moe
I think you should try sand again. Like, five or 6 inches worth. But this time, cover the bottom leaf litter.
Clark, Lois, and Jimmy.
George, Jerry, Kramer
Hey john.ik im no expert, but i just wanted to suggest using a wavemaker.ive seen many people, even a lot of big cichlid keepers use these.they help with aeration, and create a ton of flow that basically forces all the poop and debris into the filter or sump overflow, insted of letting it stay on the substrate.just thought something u might wanna consider,as ive seen a lot of people fix their detritus issue with this
Huey, Louie & Dewey.
I believe that is a 240 gallon if it’s 8x2x2 = 240 gallons use a wave maker to push that poop into your filters
Apparently we do not have enough chlorine in our water to be on any type of scale we have well water
Jimmy, Henry, and Tommy - Goodfellas
Go with the old Pep Boys mascots Manny, Moe, and Jack
I keep a Oscar and a few bichirs myself in a 220 and haven't had much issue with floating debris. Obviously your tank has more large fish than mine, but I'm curious if there are other factors. Like how much and how often do you feed? More food means more waste after all, and my fish have stayed plump and happy despite usually only being fed every other day.
244 x 61 x 61 cm approx. 😝
Charlie, Linus and Pigpen
Manny, Mo and Jack
Named after the 3 musketeers.
How about swan,snow and vermin?
John how about Ed, Edd and Eddy. 😂 90s early 2000 cartoons.
For the debate of cleaning the filter stuff, if you have a tank with no substrate do you think you should be more careful?
Cloud, Sepiroth and Tifa (FF7)
Or
Luke, Leia and Vader (SW)
Or
Ozzy, Mick Jagger and Bowie
Bilbo, Frodo and Gandalf for the albino
Is seachem still your fav over the back filter?
well, i had to watch that video! lmao!
Hasta, lavista, and Baby
Name one James after me 😊
Peanut,butter, and jelly
I name my fish after food they resemble. My honey Gourami are Satsuma and Lemon.
Dumbledore voldemort Malfoy 😂
Just a general wonder would it help to have a air line like a bubble wall to keep the derby suspended so the filtration can pick it up better 😊
Larry Curly and Moe I never name most of mine either 🤷
I am in Canada and I don't know the measurement conversion lol
The percent day to wake up early huh
I named my oscars after famous Oscars. Oscar Wilde, Oscar Meyer, Oscar Isaac, Oscar the Grouch, and Oscar Robertson.
Hades, Poseidon, Zeus.
