Yeah, I totally a agree. As a vocalist, I can input that it's not about how many sounds you can make and how big your range is, but how well you use what you have. People can be phenomenal singers with a 1.5 octave range. It's how you use your voice and convey emotion through your performance and singing techniques. Range is dependent on vocal technique, not singing technique (I'll save the difference for another topic), but essentially this means you can be an effective singer even with a small range. In voice acting, it's not about how many accents you can do and the number of personas you have, but how consistent you are in a vocal archetype, or character, and how good your vocal acting is. With that said, it's fun to explore and experiment with different accents, sounds, and pitch, but that should be to add diversity and versatility, not the main focus of expanding one's vocal repertoire. I've heard people that make reels with a bunch of generic sounding characters and shoddy accents, and I've also heard amazing vocal reels of people using just one vocal archetype. I love that these guys are helping educate people about performing arts, the emotional richness and original intention matters in addition to the artistry in the performance.
@@Sleepycatdesigns Women have three types of voices: soprano (high), mezzosoprano (medium-low) or alto (low). For men is: countertenor (soprano-like), tenor (high), baritone (medium-low) or bass (low). It is possible singing pieces of other voice types, but it probably won't sound as well as the types of voices it was intended for. Also the voices of men take more time to mature, so when they're small they can sound like sopranos. But as they grow older, their voice grows deeper and fall into the previously mentioned categories. The range depends on the person and can be improved. It doesn't depend on the voice type.
@@awickisASMR First of all singing high doesn't necessarily mean you have good range, you could be only able to sing high. Not only that but having good range doesn't make you a good singer, being able to sing accurately is what makes you one. Think about it, having a big piano doesn't make your playing better, it just expands what you can play with it. If you're terrible at playing piano, a bigger piano will just make you terrible over a bigger range. That's the same for any instrument.
I find with some chords you don't have to be as accurate when using the flats of your fingers (adjacent black notes, etc) but it probably has to do something with his hand size/strength as well.
Watch this ( ua-cam.com/video/gum0CuUvEqI/v-deo.html ) and comment on what Lydian's real talent is all about. That's why they hid this video which is beyond their talent level and instead showed and commented on the bumblebee video to put him down. It is understandable how salty and threatened the 'Chinese' get when competition shows up in music out of nowhere. Much like Yao Ming at a basketball court. P.S. Lydian plays 14 classical instruments at a high level....
Nishant Modak yeah but for a kid that age I’m surprised how he could play it that fast. But I should be like saying “a kid that age “ I’m only like I think 6 years a part from him maybe I’m not sure
@@crazymotey2023 what's the point of playing so fast if you're missing so many notes. I would respect him if he chose the path of musicality rather than speed. But we can't blame him cuz the general public reacts much better towards speed than musicality.
“That’s the average speed someone would play this song” 1. It’s piece 2. It’s the tempo the composer wanted it to be played edit- dear god, I have never seen so many likes
I mean playing it a bit slower or faster isn’t too much of a problem, but when it’s at the point where it’s unrecognizable and sounds terrible, you’re not even playing music anymore.
Theres this piece for organ by John Cage I think, to be played "infinitely slowly"..they play it at a church in Germany. They have been for many years and it will last several hundred... :D a strong contender I would say
They havent determined it yet. They started in 2003 when 24 people hit the first note to the bumblebee piece. Since then, 17 of the 24 have since hit the second key. But there are still 7 people in the competition that is officially being recorded by the Guinness book of world records.
Hamza Bustami the producers made well over one million dollars just showing this on TV and the dad is more than willing to exploit his kid if given one mill- *slaps self*
This show was rigged. There was another act slated to win, but the guy withdrew because he realized the show was BS. By that point a lot of the good acts already got eliminated, and the little kid was the last "marketable" act left.
Seriously, what happened to the guy? His performance in Doctor Who was amazing, and Into the Woods was alright as well. It's sad to see him sell out like this
I’m zero impressed with speed for speeds sake, it’s just so ‘look at me, I must be so good’ when in fact any decent musician can learn to play fast if they dedicate their practice sessions to it, but it so often sounds awful and sloppy and utterly meaningless, this is just a kid though so this somehow makes it magically more impressive. I’m impressed by beautiful playing, and this is what music is about, not showing off. It’s not the kids fault though it’s just a reflection of our society, it’s more important to look the part and wow people than to have any sort of integrity or real value.
At any international music competition there is tons of kids much more gifted than this boy. Alexander Malofeev, Tony Yun, Sandro Nebieridze and more and more (this one's are already not kids, but if u will look their young age performances, you will be impressed)
I am no musician. Years ago I was actually really impressed by these performances. So I want to thank the two setters for educating me. Now I know better. Please keep up with this great work in enlightening us non musicians.!!
The problem is seeking out others for your own truth. :) If you're impressed by it, then be impressed. It's an art. 2Set gave you their opinion and it should remain as such; completely subjective.
Netkos Ent I understand that, but it’s not the subjective truth that he was enlightened by, it was the false mainstream perception of classical music that everybody, myself included, was sucked into. I’m not a fan of classical music, but the fact that any type of music in which its authenticity (can be argued) is ruined by the mainstream media-- that aches and hurts me.
Sorry it seems you misunderstood me. With being educated by twoset, I mean that they are breaking down different techniques. So also people who don't play that instrument can understand. And also it was to twoset that I got into the world of classical music. That's where I really l learned the importance of specific dynamics. It gave me closer look at what music really means to. And trough that I learned deeper appreciation for it.
@@arsnohachikoi1767 Can you play some chords already. When not, I would suggest E, A, D and G that are good for the beginning and will help you get a better feel for your left hand. At least it was for me like this. PS: You may ask yourself:"how should he know, he said he was no musician". To clarify that. I do play some instruments but not on a level where I dare to call myself a musician.
Super late to the party but classically trained vocalist vibing SO hard with these guys -- it reminds me of when people are SUPER SHOCKED AND IMPRESSED MUCH WOW at singers who can hit super high and super low notes for shock value. Like yeah cool whistle tones ummm go listen to the Queen of the Night aria where she has to hit those coming from trills on regular soprano notes and also keep it up for a two hour opera. I'm a second alto who can hit whistle tones without even warming up. Does it sound good? HAAAAA no. No, it does not. Gimmicky art absolutely kills me.
It's a very funny internal joke (that I just learned abou). If you don't know, look for the videos of records of fastest violin players here in two set.
Personally, I think that their reactions are coming from the fact that they genuinely don’t know anything about classical music. They probably actually believe that this is the best thing they will ever see.
Well the first and second times he played it were kind of impressing because there probably are only few people who can actually do that, but from a musician standpoint it‘s obviously not great. Still, I think that everyone saying „This is not impressive at all, anyone can do that, let‘s hate this kid“ is not appropriate
Just want to let you know this kid has released his first jazz album. He is so intelligent musically... I am jealous of his talent. If you guys see this comment, maybe check his album.
How much percent error are we allowing in order to actually consider what is played the same original piece? Does distance of the played note to the original note matters? How many times can one play a piece that sounds fine even if there are deviations? Does tempo affects the originality of the piece? What is the "Original" piece? Will the original be only played once and other performances will always will be a dupe? What?
I can't play 325bpm (or even FOTB for that matter; never learnt it), but there's just something really fun about seeing how fast you can go on a piece while still getting all the notes right. Just because you don't see the joy in it doesn't mean there isn't any; everyone gets excitement from different things.
I feel like this has always been the case with child performers, even Mozart was carted around Europe as a gimmick the played the piano upside down and stuff like that
Ultimately the way you sound is what matters. You are just critizising him unnecessarily for being a child prodigy. No one likes musicians playing FOTB and proving to be a prodigy. As they both mentioned it's not the artist but the brand or television company that lures them and he is just a kid. Why wouldn't anyone perform this piece if they are getting paid. Unlike the previously roasted musicians, he has justified the piece as closest as possible.
Time is part of EVERY piece placed at an appropriate tempo. If that can be ignored by Blight of the Fumbebee players, it can be ignored by the ambitious interpreter of John Cage.
As a ballet dancer, "I'm going to do Tchaikovsky's Swan ballet in 30 seconds" absolutely killed me...the main female dancer dances two roles (Odette and Odile) so the whole thirty seconds would just be her changing costume in the wings xD As a pianist, the kid's a good piano player but I'm sad he's getting publicity for something that only shows off the mechanical, robotic side of his playing. He has good tone and the first version had some decent phrasing, so it's sad that this is what he'll be known for unless he changes that.
A R Rahman didn’t teach him. He was trained by a teacher at the school run by A R Rahman. And he (his teacher) ain’t proud of him. Rahman himself is though, cos the child brought fame to his school by winning it.
As a pianist, I think he’s good, pretty good for a twelve year old. But as you said playing fast is not that impressive. A true prodigy would play something like Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 or La Campanella by Lizt. Any pianist worth his salt knows that those two are some of the hardest pieces to play, or something by Chopin like his Heroic Polonaise. But of course, the mainstream Tv shows would find those boring.
HR 2 and La Campanella are both very far from being the hardest pieces. Both aren't easy but there are far harder pieces (not that that really matters anyways, it depends on how you play them!)
“Pianists, what do you think?” Me as a pianist: ummmm literally no one cares that you can play bumble bee on the piano kid, even Lang Lang could care less
Jesus completely agree. Literally no one cares... I mean I guess I could play, idk, Moonlight Sonata 3rd (and only the 3rd, just to rub it in), at stupid BPM, but would it be nice? No!
As a pianist, my thoughts are: *stop focusing on things like this. it doesn't show real skill because there's no tonality and expression. it's super cool, and you're definitely talented, but it's not really playing.* but his notes were accurate and he didn't skip any, so that's better than the violinists. edit: woah the likes
@@sextupledvanillabeans559 You can still have tone. An extreme example would be like banging on the keys. No, you have to follow the music, and it's hard to get the exact pressure when pressing the keys. Try it some day.
This kid is actually really good, he cans play stuff with different time signatures per line and he’s in general really good, he probably did this bc PR
Sorry to be late...but here is some information about the pianist- The pianist is Lydian Nadhaswaram. He is from India. He used to play drums as a kid but later shifted to piano. He previously studied under ar rahman association. He has won many competitions. His idol is Beethoven and his dream is to play moonlight Sonata on the moon ( don't ask me if it's possible or not) he can play with two pianos and he can play blindfolded. He has also composed a film soundtrack for a south Indian film. Well, I have seen a lot of his vedios and he plays really really fast in all of them...so I am afraid that twosetviolin's prediction might be true as well...but he is a very talented kid. Edit- I haven't written this comment because I am jealous or he is not talented. He is a talented kid..it's just this particular playing that is sacrilegious!
He acted in an indian movie name Atkan Chatkan last year right? I watched this vid before and after watching Atkan Chatkan i came back here to make sure it was him who is in this vid
@Richard Wagner maybe...maybe not.. according to me he did appear as a talented kid..and probably with some more effort he can be really really good...but with comparison to Lang Lang and yuja Wang and other great pianists he is nothing..
@Richard Wagner well yeah , Lydian is a show kid and doesn’t receive feedback in classical music perspective . He has more presence in the film music industry . But that kid has talent , for sure . He improvised stuff on piano like the b flat prodigy , meaning he has a good knack for music . But if u ask in terms of classical music or Carnatic music field , I would say he needs much more training to be called a prodigy , but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have talent , he doesn’t have enough linglings ( or twosetters) around him to lead him . But I think it is child abuse to make him think that playing fast ( or sacrilegious playing ) is a good thing . His sense of rhythm gets rather messed up ( I heard him play the kanjira and his rhythmic improvisation was quite plain ) . So , yup u r partially right . But Lydian has time in his life to become a prodigy , cause he is just 15 🥲
@@mmonalysa yeah, the playing which is riddled with mistakes, proper intonation and lacks melody because it's a too fast, jumbled mess of notes. You can get the same effect from a neighbour revving his powerdrill at 7 am on a Sunday. That's not an attack on the kid.
When will mainstream people understand music is not about how fast you play, its about play it with passion, emotions and understand what the composers trying to bring out?
@@MyAnno1404 I agree with you but it also depends on the music. For example, if the musician(s) choose to play marching music or some extremely fast pieces (like the one in this vid or music like Vivaldi's summer 3rd movement). It most likely does not touch people. The listener has no choice but to follow the mood of the music that the composer wanted the listener to feel. So, the musician has an important job that is did he/she played it as the composer wanted. For me, when the youtuber, Rousseau play "Flight of the bumblebee" I am more satisfied and truly enjoy the performance its because you can hear dynamics, every notes clearly, the speed that Rimsky-Korsakov wanted. We all know Rousseau can play it faster than he did, but he did not play it faster because he knows it is not Rimsky-Korsakov wanted
Imagine going to a concert and the band coming out on stage like "we've all been practicing really hard and will play all our songs at double speed, hope you enjoy"
The worst part is flight of the bumblebee isn’t even that hard, if you know your scales, it should take only about 2 days to get it right. Thats the amount of time it took my cousin to learn it in the piano. Pianist cousin approved
I dont think he earned it for just doing that. It was just one of many different skills he possess which is what these TV VARIETY competitions are about. THIS IS NOT A PIANO COMPETITION. His other competitors are talented in other areas like singing. In a different stage of that competition, he plays two different songs on two different pianos at the same time, also blindfolded. In another he plays Beethoven followed by a drum solo for the piano piece he just completed. Watch that and you will be blown away. He plays 14 different classical instruments (pianos, drums, cello, violin, guitar etc ) both Western and Indian classical instruments and most of them at a professional level. He started at age 4 and by 7 he has achieved all of this. I would love to see anyone at his age with his level of skills anywhere in the world. Guys, keep this in its place. Granted- how the show portrayed it and their reactions were ridiculous. But this isn't about musicianship. It's about technicality and practice. The piece is not meant to be enjoyed at that speed. But FotBB has long been used as a piece for measuring speed and technical proficiency with an instrument. It takes years of dedication and discipline to achieve what he has, and that is what is impressive because of his age. I don't even think his technique is very efficient and he'll probably develop problems in his hands and wrists over time if he continues to use so much effort. I fully admit that this ability alone does not epitomize good playing, good music, or artistry. But he definitely has the chops to be able to play anything he wants, and can work on developing the musicality of his playing as he matures. But one thing's for sure - he proved that his muscles can do the "heavy lifting", now he can develop his brain to be able to control the nuance of the music.
in this scenario, yes. but flight of the bumblebee is in an opera (the tale of tsar saltan) by rimsky korsakov. it technically has voice (actually multiple) singing over (while a bumblebee stings someone in the eye lol)
I mean, the piece is very overused. But the kid is pretty talented, and he could definitely play much more complex pieces. The adults are really exaggerating it and just being really fake.

I love the way you guys came with the conclusion that this act was a complete show and premeditated, giving a wrong impression of what a music show it should be. By the way the "theme" or the decoration in the show was extremely meaningful, full of "octagonal figures" very meaningful of something terrifying! Thumbs up for you guys 👍
It made me sad looking at his fingering and have position :') I think because in a violin you have to worry about intonation so it's clear when it's bad. Bad piano playing is different to bag violin playing. Sing get me wing the kid isn't bad but he's not great
He started missing notes at 325 I mean... I think there's no physical way that a piano hammer can go *_that_* fast and still sound distinct and proper.
Super Noodles True. It made me sad too. I hope the kid continues to play piano and more pieces than bumblebee on tv lol. I think also he is a kid while the two bois are adults and have been playing their instruments for a long time and sometimes I’m just like wait do they actually hear themselves 😂
Lakhshamana yeah for sure. When I used to teach, I had a student try to playing a mallet run on the piano with their fingers. It was I n t e r e s t i n g. I was like uh, let’s not do that. People need to use that piano. Hahah.
That kid who then makes straight 70's or failed the test altogether because he fucking sped through it and made it seem like it was important to compensate the fact he has no idea what was going on. Yeah, I remember that kid, I was that kid a couple times lmao. But this shit straight shreds my ears.
Just to be fair, the kid played well considering his age, it's just the whole emphasis on superficial details like speed, and the scripting of reactions to make it seem like a big deal is annoying. This is probably because the kind of training and practice that classical musicians do in real life focuses more on artistic expression and musicality through a combination of techniques and a unique interpretation based on their perspective. That is what's really difficult to achieve, even requiring constant practice throughout the decades to maintain that kind of skill. So yeah that's why it's kinda insulting when mainstream media fails to recognize these aspects (and the people who put in effort to achieving this standard) as being the more important parts of classical music, but rather, glorify the more superficial, lower levels on the path of musical interpretation as the be-all and end-all of the process.
Definately! It is not the fact *what* he plays, but *how* he plays. I miss the interpreting of the piece, the expression of personality, the phrasing. Music is so much more than simply smash piano keys.
@@jameelmaayah9136 I mean, compared to the average 12-year-old piano student, he's doing pretty well considering that he's performing a famous piece of a certain technical level in front of an audience with his dad in it, on a stage, recorded for tv, presumably with a script to follow, and cameras and lights all over his person. Give the kid a break lol not all of us can be as perfect as Ling Ling
i love these videos because the boys are so aware of whats frustrating. so often people would be frustrated, not understand why, not think twice about it and be like "screw this kid" which would polarize the situation. most viewers would be like "yeah screw this kid!" but many others would be like "all hes doing is playing piano chill out". so by being able to explain that the whole reason that its frustrating is because the way its marketed, how fake it is, how disrespectful it is to classical music, etc is really great. good job guys.
As someone who also plays with flat fingers I assure you its a technique called Russian technique. Its used to play and sound more Legato. He was simply not using it properly. This kid was in the batch of my piano teacher. My teacher said he really was a great kid but he never in an interview said the name of his Teacher who taught him everything and then dropped out. No hate to him but he could really be better than that if he played with more feel.
I've never really understood the thing with "ooOOoOo he is playing faster than intended". Yes, I know that its more difficult that way, which is the reason why all those sacreligious bois do it. However that way it loses all of its artistic meaning. Like you dont see people being like "Look at me, I can do the Dance Of The Little Swans in 10 seconds!!!" Or "Look! I can bake a tiramisu in one minute!!" Its obvious that if rushed, quality wont be good. So why? Why do they do it? And praise it?
Mary-Sue Pleasant because to the regular non-musician, fast=skill. The same applies to a lot of things besides music and it sucks, but that’s the way life is.
Agreed. It could definitely be a fun challenge between friends to see who is faster and whatnot, but to be treated so highly for a television show definitely does not make sense lol.
The point is it’s a show for people who don’t understand music and are impressed by what they perceive as being outstanding and unconventional. So you take a kid playing a piece far faster than it would ‘normally’ be played by ‘normal’ adult musicians and hey presto you have created entertainment for the masses.
You guys did a great job of explaining why musicians generally find this type of performance irritating which the non-musicians may perceive as envy. Also, great job on separating the act from the doer. It further clarifies the position of musicians as regards the tendency of media to equate speed with skill.
I had to rewatch the part where Eddie said he was gonna do Tchaikovsky's ballet in 30 seconds 3 times bc the mental image of him doing that made me laugh my ass off
Thank you so much for once again exposing the manipulative staging of all these Music-TV-Shows, it's not always easy to explain WHY this is bad and not be misunderstood.
He played the actual tempo incredibly well...but it sounded like a Slayer solo when he went to 325. Just because you *can* doesn't mean you *should*. It sounded like a technically correct wet cabbage fart *shrug* I see this in my metal musician circles all the time with guys wondering why they can't impress girls with their three octave double harmonic major sweep picking licks, but some dude playing cowboy chords on an acoustic gets all the action (it's because technique isn't necessarily musical, nor does it sound particularly good).
Not to mention the cowboy guy is probably singing, which very few metal musicians do. And when they do, I bet you don't want to be less than 10ft from them.
@@drakonyanazkar Why? Metal musicians can, and they many times have, a very good singing voice. Imo metal singers are the best sounding and most technical singers in the world.
@@Jonathan-zu7fd You're preaching to the choir, fellow commenter. Classical and jazz players are often into that "I play faster than you" gunslinger attitude, and guitar "shreders" too. Music it´s not an athletic competition, but is so common. I don´t like super uptempo music in any style.
Hi Twosetters!! I’m super late to the party but can I ask a favor? Don’t know if anyone will see this… I know about this show and wish someone can spread the word/ maybe tell 2set about it to give them backstory of this performance, it will answer some questions and raise awareness. I’m thankful for any help!!! I know this is 4 years late but it would be nice still to know the truth. This is The World’s Best show, canceled after 1 season (thankfully haha), might be because there was a big scandal (will talk about that too since it proves what this show is really about.) This Bumblebee performance was in the final, AFTER the scandal already happened so maybe the show purposely exaggerated his performance to try and “save face.” The show was a shameless money grab that even lied to a contestant… Contestants had to sign contracts, so I think that the pianist (Lydian) definitely was made to say/do things. The show was also heavily edited to match what they wanted people to see, like TwoSet said. I know this because 2 audience members stepped out and made a video about the scandal. Basically, this show invited (tricked) a singer named Dimash Kudaibergen into coming to the show. Dimash (24 yrs) told them before signing the contract “Will there be children? I don’t compete with kids.” Because it’s his culture, obviously they lied to him, why else is a 12 yrs old Lydian there? Later Dimash found out they lied to him and quit the show even though lots of people thought he would win, but the judges (especially the Americans) started shaming him, and the show was edited to make Dimash look bad. Also, it’s silly that it’s called The World’s Best but the 3 main judges were Americans… So I think this show was just doing anything to get attention from lots of people, like exploiting kids like Lydian and honest people like Dimash. I’m happy you pointed out it’s not Lydian’s fault, because it was completely the show’s fault. I don’t know what Lydian’s doing now but I hope he improved and is doing better. Thank you 2set for all your videos, I learn a lot. Love you guys 💕
Clearly, he’s a good kid who has skill and he has potential to be even better but it sad that the media will praise him only for his speed and not actual ability. I hope he has the chance to better his skills and perform for a more appreciative audience
I hope he takes piano lessons where they focus on playing pieces with good technique and style instead of just playing fast. It would be a shame for him to just waste his talent on playing fast.

Isn't that what Michael Flatley was doing?
Reminds me of those people who thinks singing higher notes = better singer🤦♀️
Joyce Li well that means they have a bigger range so it kinda does mean they are a better singer
OMG. A dude once told me Michael Buble is a great singer Because he’s a high Baritone. LOL

To be fair, that was the easiest hustle of that kids life.

His idol is Beethoven and his dream is to play moonlight Sonata on the moon ( don't ask me if it's possible or not) he can play with two pianos and he can play blindfolded. He has also composed a film soundtrack for a south Indian film. Someone actually said it . Lydian appreciation post 🥰

Only time you need to play fast is when there's a bald jazz conductor standing in front of you and yelling 'not my tempo!!'
멍멍콩이 But what if you were rushing?
Is this a whiplash reference?
I mean, the piece is very overused. But the kid is pretty talented, and he could definitely play much more complex pieces. The adults are really exaggerating it and just being really fake.
Which is what TwoSet said.
Case Buckelew i was born not created, does that mean i am a genius ?
Everyone is a genius then
@Case Buckelew we are genius
He plays 14 different classical instruments (pianos, drums, cello, violin, guitar etc ) both Western and Indian classical instruments and most of them at a professional level. He started at age 4 and by 7 he has achieved all of this. I would love to see anyone with his level of skills anywhere in the world. If these two clowns had any integrity, they could easily find that with a few clicks on the internet, which is a shame. This kid is a child prodigy of his generation and NOT YOUR AVERAGE INSECURE UA-camr throwing shades hoping to make a living selling merch.
"As a musician, what's the point?"
"Err... a million dollars?"
Honestly, this was more mangeable to listen to than the sacreligious bois.
It made me sad looking at his fingering and have position :') I think because in a violin you have to worry about intonation so it's clear when it's bad. Bad piano playing is different to bag violin playing.
Sing get me wing the kid isn't bad but he's not great
He started missing notes at 325
I mean... I think there's no physical way that a piano hammer can go *_that_* fast and still sound distinct and proper.
@@Lakhshamana true
Super Noodles True. It made me sad too. I hope the kid continues to play piano and more pieces than bumblebee on tv lol.
I think also he is a kid while the two bois are adults and have been playing their instruments for a long time and sometimes I’m just like wait do they actually hear themselves 😂
Lakhshamana yeah for sure. When I used to teach, I had a student try to playing a mallet run on the piano with their fingers. It was I n t e r e s t i n g. I was like uh, let’s not do that. People need to use that piano. Hahah.
he sounds like that 1 kid in your class who brags about finishing the fastest
The same kid also ends up with no girlfriend. Because of that.
*wink. wink.*
The kid who also ends up failing the test anyway lmao
When he grows up, he will regret always finishing first
That kid who then makes straight 70's or failed the test altogether because he fucking sped through it and made it seem like it was important to compensate the fact he has no idea what was going on. Yeah, I remember that kid, I was that kid a couple times lmao. But this shit straight shreds my ears.
"I'm gonna do Tchaikovsky's Swan ballet in 30 seconds" had me dead
Maybe he only practiced flight of the bumblebee but he can't play anything else
He was lacking in both aspects. Just look at his hands. His posture is absolutely atrocious.
That’s some deep stuff there
bee-all heh
i love these videos because the boys are so aware of whats frustrating. so often people would be frustrated, not understand why, not think twice about it and be like "screw this kid" which would polarize the situation. most viewers would be like "yeah screw this kid!" but many others would be like "all hes doing is playing piano chill out". so by being able to explain that the whole reason that its frustrating is because the way its marketed, how fake it is, how disrespectful it is to classical music, etc is really great. good job guys.
"That's the average speed someone would play the song."
Only classical musicians will find the extreme error in this sentence.
SONG?? sound sus

Song!!!!!!!!! Damnn
@@rashednimri2006 I hate it when they say that. It's a fricking PIECE!!!!!
piece and tempo
I love your take in this......
Subbed 😊
The point is it’s a show for people who don’t understand music and are impressed by what they perceive as being outstanding and unconventional. So you take a kid playing a piece far faster than it would ‘normally’ be played by ‘normal’ adult musicians and hey presto you have created entertainment for the masses.
Kudos to the editor:
"do I really need to photoshop anything here"
I laughed so hard 😂
You guys did a great job of explaining why musicians generally find this type of performance irritating which the non-musicians may perceive as envy. Also, great job on separating the act from the doer. It further clarifies the position of musicians as regards the tendency of media to equate speed with skill.
I had to rewatch the part where Eddie said he was gonna do Tchaikovsky's ballet in 30 seconds 3 times bc the mental image of him doing that made me laugh my ass off
Eddy's Tchaikovsky Ballet in 30s was AmaAaZinG!
ironically, the "normal" version is the best that kid played that day
Not at all ironically! There's a reason the normal version is indeed the normal version.
Piano/Keyboard Player.
Fluency, Dynamics, Expressions>>>>>>>>>>>Speed.
Thank you so much for once again exposing the manipulative staging of all these Music-TV-Shows, it's not always easy to explain WHY this is bad and not be misunderstood.
I remember at my school talent show there was just this one kid who played flight of the bumblebee three years in a row on piano.
lolll
Did he win?
@asd lol
@@RG-5652 well, it was one of those talent shows where "eVeRYbOdY WiNS"
BRUH we had that kid too and i was honestly amazed every single time bahah
He played the actual tempo incredibly well...but it sounded like a Slayer solo when he went to 325. Just because you *can* doesn't mean you *should*. It sounded like a technically correct wet cabbage fart *shrug*
I see this in my metal musician circles all the time with guys wondering why they can't impress girls with their three octave double harmonic major sweep picking licks, but some dude playing cowboy chords on an acoustic gets all the action (it's because technique isn't necessarily musical, nor does it sound particularly good).
I meant you wouldn't want to be less than 10ft because it's usually sung very loud or at least in a manner energetic enough that being too close would ruin it. If you had to choose between hearing, in a toilet cabinet, Willie Nelson or Andre Mattos (RIP), who'd you choose?
@@drakonyanazkar My bad then! Definetly Andre, even in the toilet cabinet lol. I like it loud and high, and his singing always gives me chills.
like if you count on your musical abilities to impress girls you're such a loser regardless if it's a pianist doing three-octave double harmonic major sweep picking licks or some dude playing cowboy chords on an acoustic. And also, fuck this circlejerk of all pianists here saying "It TaKeS aLl ThE mUsIcAlIty OuT oF iT" no one fucking came for a concert to enjoy music, it's about the show. Everyone came to wow at the speed he played, no one said "This piece is so beautiful".
Classical and jazz players are often into that "I play faster than you" gunslinger attitude, and guitar "shreders" too. Music it´s not an athletic competition, but is so common. I don´t like super uptempo music in any style.
At least he cant slide between notes like the violinists...
Brett: his dad is like "I'm gonna get my million dollars"
Editor, aka producer: please don't get twoset cancelled Brett
LMAO
LightenS the mask dropped therefor a second. You can see this kind of fake tv really upsets these guys
Also, it’s silly that it’s called The World’s Best but the 3 main judges were Americans…
So I think this show was just doing anything to get attention from lots of people, like exploiting kids like Lydian and honest people like Dimash.
