Me too. I remember watching Bob when I was 5 or 6 years old. I'm 41 now. I loved watching him then, and I still do. I didn't even know he died until not too long ago. It broke my heart when I found out.

To be fair, Bob always said he'd had a rough or tough life.
I think he got divorced and later remarried and her later wife died of Cancer. He went to the Air force for 20 yrs. and later went to painting and his first steps weren't so good. He did those programs for free till he got very sick and later died at 52.

That was me, too. Nobody was allowed to disturb me during those precious 30 minutes. I purchase a calendar every year for the photos of his paintings. No writing allowed. So sad he is no longer with us.
It’s sad that he’s gone though, such a peaceful man to relax to.
First time he's used Prussian Blue in a while. He still hasn't brought back Phthalo Green.
pjabrony yeah he used to use Phthalo Green a lot more often than what he did in these later episodes. Prussian Blue is also a rarity, but not as rare.

I think the greens and blues seem more "as needed by the scene in his head." He can create any green variant he needs, as he has yellows and blues. Primary colors or his most vibrant variants of them are needed to mix his variants. Where he used to have a lot more random blues, greens, etc. He later seems to mix them to create similar colors

Bob always had a great sense of humor. He would crack some good jokes while he painted a fantastic picture
I can barely draw a 3D cube and this man can paint an entire picture in under 30min without any problem whatsoever.

I wonder how many people watch these videos to learn to paint vs. just enjoy watching Bob Ross paint. I have zero artistic talent, so my "Joy" is just kicking back and watching him paint. These shows look like they're from the 70's and broadcast on PBS. Thank God for inventing UA-cam so I can binge watch these episodes whenever I want and back to back!
His artistic talent is awesome (at least to this untalented pleb). But he narrates what he's doing in such a kind and soothing voice, yet his passion for painting and encouraging others is clear.
I wish I could buy a Bob Ross painting and put it up on my wall! I love paintings of beautiful scenery and he does them so incredibly well.
Love the endings too! Seems like today a sweet person like Bob would set off an atheist lynch mob by saying, "God Bless". Many US atheists are losing sleep every night because "God" is quoted on our money and mentioned in our Pledge of Allegiance.

We live in Plainfield, Indiana. I have your video kit, but I keep forgetting to try it because, even at my age, we do alot for other people and have to drive 3 hrs to my family and 3 hrs to his. lol We have been enjoying your painting on you tube also. Thank you so much for sharing your talent. For some reason, it scares me to start painting because to me, it takes a different frame of mind that I haven't dealt with for a while. However, I really like your style and have started to collect some equip,nt to work with. One question: How difficult is it to use acrylics vs oils. i only have a few very small tubes. Some money loving corporation who probably claim to have known Bob Ross personally.
Most likely PBS, as they own the copyright to the Joy of Painting trademark. He never made money off the show regardless, but the money he made was through his own business teaching painting. That business still lives on today, I’ve purchased some fantastic brushes, paints, and written tutorials from them. Definitely top-notch material!
