Last night‘s episode was so sad, the one where the little boy is killed by a wicked man with a grenade, and the Italian restaurant is burnt down by angry locals because Italy declared war. So sad.

I was thinking about getting into an alpha wave brain state like you were talking about and I suddenly realized that when I listen to your videos and follow along it’s like a meditation for me…probably similar to what you were saying about teaching English in Germany. So when I’m listening to you my painting becomes more intuitive because I’m not constantly criticizing what I’m doing. Thank you!❤

Really 100k stubbies in just a couple of years is quite a feat! Congratulations! I’m glad to be one as well! And yes Foyles War is great television!! Except for what you see on t.v.,MOST Americans are very shy about covering up their bodies (or at least they used to be!) and wouldn’t think about going into a public place without clothes. I remember being shocked when I lived in Oxford, England, and my friend there told me that women in France went topless at the beach! That’s quite rare in the U. S. and only at some designated places. Probably most people think we are much more free than that, and certainly modern clothes don’t really cover up much. Oh well, people are people all over, some kind and sweet like you and some not. Great work on your channel, and I know that it has been work! We really enjoy you and especially the ramblings! Love your junk journal too! I just put an old picture of my grandmother in mine. Maybe someday I will have a grandchild I hope!💕

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio  Рік тому +1

Hi Donna, thanks for your interesting comment! It‘s true that women think nothing of going topless - or indeed butt naked - on beaches in France. The all-over tan is still something many people prize here. They believe in the health-giving properties of exposing the whole body to the sea air and the sun. I can sort of imagine how it would feel but I don‘t have the skin for it, too sun-sensitive sadly. Saunas of course are different again. Loads of people wandering around letting it all hang out without a care in the world. I managed it - I had to because it was my job!!! - but it was very hard!

It is very interesting that you talk about the Lozanovs method of learning. I used to start school in a school in Sofia, Bulgaria, entirely using his method. It was an unique experience for me. For many years I had very mixed feelings about whether I got advantage or disadvantage learning this way in that early age. The moe I live, the more I am convinced I had benefits from this learning method. It gave me ability to think outside of the box, but as a child it was challenging to be so different than the mainstream.

Hi and thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience of being taught using the Lozanov method. I’m so glad you now feel you benefitted from it. My own experience was quite limited, but I did see it work pretty well for language learning “immersion” classes that I was involved in, and I do believe the alpha state is essential to creativity. Thanks so much for your support of my channel and I’m so glad you enjoy the videos! Happy painting! Diane x

Diane, although I never really found myself connecting much with abstract type art, since I've been watching your videos, I have definitely developed a great sense of appreciation for them. I'm always amazed when you stroke or splash paint on the paper watching the lovely designs it creates. Then adding the various embellishments is that bit of additional frosting :)
For the past week, I've been making little 4 x 6 greeting cards using this approach. I mailed one to a friend who lives in Wisconsin yesterday, so she'll get a happy surprise in the mail soon.
I loved the intro today with you sharing your beautiful journal with its special treasures inside. Your paintings are seriously gorgeous and your grandsons are darling. What a fun treat for me to see that you've saved and included the card I painted. I am truly honored that it has a place in your journal. On another note, I've watched the sweet little Easter chick video already but today I'm going to watch it again so I can make a few and send them out for Easter, which is quickly approaching. One last thing....just look at your subscriber numbers! I'm going to crack open some bubbly and raise a glass to celebrate your 100,000 lucky subscribers soon! It must be a wonderful feeling knowing how many lives you and Tamsin have touched in such a healthy and positive way. Congratulations to my very favorite teacher! xo

Hi Carolyn and thanks so much, yet again, for your wonderfully supportive and life-enhancing comments! We have indeed worked hard to reach 100,000 subscribers, but with the motivation that you and others like you are sending our way every day it just doesn‘t feel like work! I am truly blessed and truly grateful for the opportunity that has so serendipitously landed in my lap! I‘m glad you’re finding pleasure in some of the more abstract work. It is just the ticket when you don‘t know what to paint, and sometimes something emerges that really makes your day! I just know that your talent is going to find particular joy in this niche as well as all the other things you do. Thanks for reminding me about the bubbly! I have to send my husband off to get us some Champommy, which is the non-alcoholic French version of champagne made from apples! And I think I‘ll plan a special meal as well! It certainly doesn‘t happen every day. Sending you love and thanks, Diane and Tamsin.

I wasn’t into this piece at first, but once you began to doodle I saw all sorts of scenes develop...totally blown away! If you hold it portrait way with the river of blue grey at the bottom I see stones under and breaking the surface; and across the river hills with interesting foliages and the row of cottages with windows alight and thusly began to imagine life in that little corner of the world. Thank you Diane and Tamsin for opening my eyes. Susan

Teach him the Spanish for all the painting words! Colors, materials, tools, subjects!

Love the painting, I was so happy to see you using Kuretake. I have their large set and a small tester set. I have a question for you or perhaps someone in your group, have you ever found a pallete metal or plastic that would accommodate the Kuretake Paint pans? I do not want to leave them in the cardboard but rather set them into a pallet that I can mix and store in. Any suggestions?

Hi Dee-Ellen, seeing your question made me think, and I have just transferred my paints into a Masterson Sta-Wet palette box like this one amzn.to/3ZyCfRf Mine is a bit older and smaller and has a section for brushes, but the newer ones are better, and bigger and I think a lot of paints would fit in. I can get my 48 in the main section, plus another ten in the brush section if I want. I will probably use that section for holding the colors I intend to use for a particular painting. I‘ll post a photo on Facebook in our group.

Hello, I'm fairly new to your channel ... and loving it :) You may have mentioned this somewhere before, I'm curious to know why you choose to use Kuretake watercolours? I've only just realised that these are non toxic and now makes me wonder about the others. Thank you.

Hi Diana, so glad you found us and are enjoying the channel! I came to find out about Kuretake via a circuitous route. I noticed Emma LeFevbre using the Kuretake Starry Colors (gold and silver) a few years ago and eventually decided to buy some for myself. I was so pleased with the way they worked out I looked at their other offerings and saw the paints in the big box, in the big pans and I thought, aha, they would work for my style of painting! So I took the plunge and bought some. I find that they are very much easier to paint with than the traditional paints I have used for the past 60 years and I wish I had known about them sooner. The manufacturers have told me that they are non-toxic, and that the next batch to be shipped from Japan will also be non animal product containing and therefore acceptable to vegans. I’m more interested in their non-toxic properties. Although I am not aware of any of the paints from Winsor and Newton containing anything toxic either. Hope this helps!

I loved your Art Nouveau Kuretaki paint colors so much that I was going to order some for myself. I did some research into what is in them and was a little disturbed to see that animal hide glue is an ingredient. I don't want to be hypocritical and NOT order them...I wear leather shoes. However, I do not use animal hair paintbrushes. Also I'm wondering what kind of animal. Is it cowhide? I have to think on this a bit more. How do you feel about this ingredient? Does it upset you to use animal byproducts in your painting? Do you use animal hair brushes? No judgement here. Just wondering. Thanks so much for your videos. I love them.

Hi Rita, I have been in touch with Kuretake about the ingredients in the paints. They are in the process of exchanging the one animal based ingredient in them (gelatine) for a vegan alternative and have told me that the next shipment of paints that is sent out to Amazon will be vegan compliant. On the brush issue, I myself only use synthetic brushes, although I do have a few animal hair ones which are decades old.

P.S. I tried again to order the Kuretake Art Nouveau set but they are still out of stock. I’ve had the 48 set for quite a while and it’s a good while different experience. Kuretake must have underestimated the popularity of the sweet gentle colors in the nouveau set. Hopefully soon!

Gosh, I‘m surprised it‘s still out of stock. But these days…. Yes, it is a very versatile set which saves a lot of time and produces surprising results. I think you‘ll enjoy it (when you finally get it!)
