- Here is the incar footage of race three of four from the Super Touring Power Event at Brands Hatch back in June.
Usual mixed bag of, big power, big engines, big turbo's, big aero and mega handling cars on track.
This took place on the Indy Circuit, with Alex Driving GRM15, Holden V8 Supercar, VF Commodore. As our followers will know, not a circuit suited to the big Holden, as you can't stretch it's legs, but we love it anyway!
Qualifying for this race, we ended up 4th but the times didn't reflect our actual pace.
Started the session on brand new slicks, so needed to scrub those in and get some heat into them too.
Then came the issue of being slowed up by traffic with 32 cars on the short circuit and not being able to get a clear run. Just as we start getting up to speed the safety car arrived on track.
By the time this made its way back into the pits there was only time left for one flying lap, this started off well but then Alex was held up by a car in front ruining the lap.
We didn't quite get through qualifying unscathed, a high pressure pipe on the power steering failed part way through. Fortunately, with it being at Brands we were local to the unit, so quickly shot back there, grabbed a spare and got it fitted.
On to the race, it was spitting with rain while we waited in the collection area and as the cars went out on to circuit, not enough to wet the track though, then it fortunately cleared before the start of the race.
At the start Alex got stuck on the outside at Paddock and being cautious (can't win the race in the first corner but you can certainly lose it!) dropped a couple of places and then had to take avoiding action into druids, meaning he dropped from 4th back to 10th in two corners.
Then came the fight back through the field and with just under 4 minutes to go out of the 15 minute race, Alex was hot on the tail of 2nd place. Clearly with a lot more pace and 1st place was insight, it was starting to look like a win was possible.
On the back of the second place car into paddock a back marker was ahead going towards Druids. Alex went to the outside of the back marker where the track was clear, but the second placed Audi dived to the inside of the back marker on the grass, obviously couldn't slow down and went straight on.
Alex saw what was happening out the corner of his eye, leaving him no choice but to anchor on the brakes and go straight on into the gravel. If he had turned into the bend as normal, he would have just been t-boned by the out of control Audi. The Audi ended up in the wall and Alex was stuck in the gravel.
A needless end to our race and four tyres that had lots of life left ready for the bin. Fortunately no damage to the car though.
Not only was that race ruined for us, it meant starting 3 cars from dead last for the next one. - Авто та транспорт
Gutted for you man. You were racing brilliantly. I really want to come to the UK and marshal so i can watch u race.
Nice drive back through the field, pity about the poor choice of line from the Audi
Out of curiosity.... What is going on with the steering osciliations mid corner? are they by choice is or there something going on there?
@@The_Evil_Monkey_93 we think it is abit out of habit and possibly need to change the valve in the pump to a different flow rate.
lots of gaps there didn't get filled?
@@richardwalsh5570 We find caution is key with this series, otherwise you just risk unnecessary damage.

So unlucky mate. Took a couple of laps for the tyres to come up, but then you were ripping through the pack. That Audi was backing you up into the corners 😡
Better luck in the next race 🏁🏆
Is the Audi driver a rookie? 🤦♂️
