Hello. The heavy mat goes bottom and you put that foam on top of it. The mat block low frequency that’s why you get better bass. The foam target high frequency. For those folks just want to reduce road noise ( tire noise). Remove the fender wheel liner. Put mat and foam on the plastic liner.(facing upward side) Spray rubber underbody armor to liner (facing tire side). Don’t tape any mat to metal surface wheel well or you get serious rusty issue. This should hugely reduce road noise🎉
Hi. Thank you for your advice. Exactly what I was thinking of doing.
Wheels wells+engine hood+spare tire chamber.
I want maximum bang for least effort/possible damage to interior
@@johndelapena3484 put the sound deadening mat for plastic fender liner only. Don’t tape them on the metal surface or you may have rusty issue.
You can put some of this mat under front seat carpet
Cover up the pedal area.
I found these two areas are most effective spots.
Back trunk wheel well not really matter😂
@@noobwow2009 what about inside the door? also i don't plan on big bass average sound system and road noise
@@cdoublejjyes you can.
Can we use absorbing cotton, or it must be closed cell foam?
I literally use the stuff on my brothers car in his trunk and what a difference it made the stuff is awesome and they’re cheap . You’re the only one on the Internet that I found that has a review!
did you really though, literally use the stuff, literally on your brother's car?
The Amazon deadener is the shit. And you are 100% correct it is just as good and cheap and it does what everyother deadener is suppose to do deaden sound and vibrations. I'm glad to see someone reviewed Amazon's sound deadener sheets. Not everything from Amazon is cheap and the prices speak for themselves this product is 100% worth the buy..
The Siless foam is part of a SYSTEM for sound attenuation. Rather than two or three layers of heavy butyl or mass loaded vinyl you put down a layer of butyl then a layer of foam. Does the same job with much less weight. I used the Siless System (80mil butyl & 157mil Closed cell foam)on my Mustang GT and Siless 3 in 1 (210mil on firewall & floors, 50mil butyl on doors, sides & roof) for 3rd Gen Explorer 4x4 (put a Cummins diesel in) and the sound reduction was outstanding. We can have conversations in the Explorer, listen to the stereo or two-way radios with no problem.
Would a layor of butyl and a layor of foam thought the trunk and behind the rear row seats in a charger be noticeable against exhaust noise?
@@Ryan.Reeling Yeah, the butyl will help with soundwaves and wind causing vibrations in your car's sheet metal, and the foam will both insulate your interior from heat/cold, and absorb some of the noise from your exhaust that doesn't vibrate your sheet metal but makes it into the cabin as sound.
I would also advise putting masloaded vinyl on top of that.
The "foum stuff" is sound dampener, while the heavy bytul stuff is vibration dampener. You need both for optimal results. The aluminium covering work as a heat shield. Just so you know.
Helps me in doing up my own car. Thanks alot for the explanation.
That’s nonsense. If you know anything about sound transmission, it’s the vibration that causes the sound! They both do exactly the same thing!
@@officialWWM Not true. I build car audio.
@@FrodeLøtvedt dampening vibration will dampen sound by default! The foam is mean to work as an air gap between the butyl and carpet on the floor.
@@officialWWM yes, an air gap that works as insulation, to stop sound waves from reaching the hard surface, where it would reflect back, but to say they do exactly the same thing is simply wrong. Bytul works to add weight to the light sheet of metal, stopping it from from vibrating. Besides, you normally don't use foam stuff under the carpet, as the carpet itself does the job.
You should use the foam cushioning stuff on top of the amazon sound deadener inside of the door. It will stop resonance noise inside of the door . It should also help out your heater and ac
I was thinking the same thing
What foam cushion stuff ?
This deadener is made by DAP. They make roofing materials sold in major hardware stores. Very solid brand, rebranded for amazon basics. But is still a DAP product.
Thank you for doing the review, excellent help for others who are curious about cheaper options.
With the amazon basics stuff, you need to add the black foam to it. The amazon basics is only vibration damping. No heat insulation and no sound _deadening_. If you look at the Siless stuff, for example, it's a 3-in-1 which is why it's thicker.
Add the foam over the bi-material Amazon Basics layer. They work different ways. Also adds insulation for those of us in the north.
Thanks for the video, looking for an alternative to RAAMmat since they closed the doors. Use that Siless foam! Sound Deadener removes vibrations and then foam over top decouples sound. Think of the foam as a way to remove an echo. It also works great between two parts (think the roof where you put sealant) to eliminate noise from them touching each other. You can also use it behind door speakers to absorb reflections.
Appreciate the explanation bro. I want to ask your opinion. Which type of foam is better to get? Cotton white foam or regular black foam from 3M(3m widely available in my country).
@@MrSaravananSMKKB You're welcomd. Of the two options you have I'd say the 3m would be the way to go.
I've got a '92 Ford F350 single cab with the 7.5 gaszilla and I dont think i can begin to explain how loud it is. Going 65 ish down the highway, i have to nearly yell to anyone im riding with, and music on the radio is worse. Have to set it to near full blast just to have decent audible music. Now this is probably due to my door seals being less than present. Once I get the door seals fixed or installed, i'll definitely be getting the mats and foam. Bye-Bye to 2 paychecks!
Also, thank you for making a video on this cheaper mat. been shopping around for a while to find a decent price and hoping this wasn't a scam. Thank you!!
SIless foam is actually a sound deadener and amazon basic product in vibration deadener, both work the best, you can't just apply one layer and call it a day if you want to get max result
So use Amazon basic stuff then foam over it?
@@MonsieurDonkey correct and to do it right ontop of foam u use mlv if u do roof only do 1st and 2nd Layers no mlv as it’s to heavy for roof
@@joshymcdaniel9233 what brand of mlv is cheap and good?
How does the actual sound deadening compare? Have you exposed it to heat yet? Such as leaving It in the sun all day?
Add the foam and mass loaded vinyl... Different materials block different frequencies... Road noise is more bass driven,, thats mLV
All three layers work excellent together
6:18 I think that’s for a second layer if u wanted to to further absorb the sound that the butyl let’s through and also for temperature control.
I needed this. Thanks for the info.
Butyl is butyl, whether is amazon or dynamat. But other products you definitely have to pick high quality stuff to get best results.
Great video! Thanks for making it. Very helpful.
I used 80mil killmat on my car. 50sq ft for 50ish $$ . I’m very happy with it, will be sound deadening all my cars from now on.
80 now fuckkkkkk
$60 for 30sq ft!
Yah sucks did everything but roof with killmat in 2020 Did the 50sq ft stuff was like $48 a box 2 did my car Floors door panels trunk etc was gunna get 1 more for roof and it’s 65$ not terrible but Jesus everything has gone up 50% the last year they want us all to fail bad be broke
hows it sticken after some time ? will it stick to cold metal or should i wait til spring now ?
That foam padding you're sending back is to replace the cotton batting under your carpet
Thank you for making this video, like you said there’s not a lot of info out for this
Glad it was helpful!
The real question is what did you think of the end results? Did you get the results you were looking for?
Doing my RSX trunk area right now. This stuff is going down really well! Havent even had to use a heat gun. Just a roller. Cant wait to see how it performs. Only cost $25 too
How did it improve your sound? What do you have far as subs. I have two 12s in my tl and was thinking of getting this and doing the trunk? Any advice is greatly appreciated
Did you finish the car. Have not seen anything in awhile
Is the Amazon basics still doing ok 3 years later? Any melting or other issues
Hello, Does this product also act as a heat sheild?
How do you do the inside of the doors??
Use the foam over the doors and in the trunk to reduce noise even further.
Dude most of these comments are so clueless 😭 use that foam (luxury liner) to stop the door plastics from rattling, since it’s thicker, it’ll give the door a super snug fit giving better sound. Sound deadener anywhere else.
Well nice video, but the fact that it compares to the KillaMatt in thickness and sticking on, doesn't mean that it works the same regardless in dampening the noise n audio sound! U haven't rly shown proof yet that ot works
Choconus, actually I saw another video about the Amazon basic hush mat and was compared to many of the name brands and it performed as well as or better than most others.
you have to do more then 1 layer?
Deadner stops vibration, and foam stops sound and keeps the car hot or cold. Why does everyone think the deadner stops sound. It just deaden it
Thinking of doing this myself soon. What are the best brands and big names in the sound deadening industry?
Does the sound deadening rear trunk lid help the occupants?
i don't think so no one rides in the trunk
any updates?
Endorsement for Amazon Basics.
I’m looking to use this to knock down the exhaust volume from the rear of the car. Will this help?
Get a quieter exhaust lol
@@Mr.Thermistor7228 hahahahahahahahhahha. You can buy it for me
How much weight does all this add to the car?
Nice review!
Man I thought u were going to show me the meter and spectrum analyzer. :(
P.s. seeing it is not what we need, we need to hear the difference. Still thanks for the video.
Excellent!! Thanks
Amazon page states .1 inch thick (100 mils). Most are around 50 to 80 mils. Has anyone actually measured?
can i use it on the firewall area inside car front hood?
Yes but paint with heat resistant black 1st
can you use it under the hood?
I just bought the noico🙉
What's the seam sealant did you use?
How much did you need to cover a single door? I am planning to do it to my car. It is a full sized sedan.
Thanks for sharing
It appears you're only using butyl rubber (CLD Tiles). You also need CCF (closed cell foam) and MLV (mass loaded vinyl).
Are you doing that for a customer?
Quick question would bed liner work for sound dentning you can buy it in a 5 gallon bucket and spray it plus it's way cheaper it's also rubber and could add mesh to make it stronger thanks for your time and reply 🎵🎶👍👌✌️💯🥂
I just looked, 36 sq ft of the Amazon Basics is more expensive than 36 sq ft of Kilmat.
Thank for that information Bro 👍👍👍
That hushmat looks thick unlike that amazom stuff plus that blue is ugly should have been black and white
Link to the amazon basics sound deadener please! Very informative vid!
I want to do my trunk. Can anyone with experience recommend and reasonably priced product? Thank you!
Does this stuff work or i am just going to waste my money for nothing? Can i get opinions from the people who have tried?
Don't spend too much. Just do the noisy parts and you'll be happier. It won't actually block out road noise.
Look up sound skin reasonable price long rolls
are you on a boat?
Cute gloves. Men are always so adorable with their gadgets and gear
That amazon foam is useless (other than it’s sticky as F**). Wish I would have watched a few videos before applying it in my truck, because it enhanced the outside sounds. I no longer trust Amazon reviews now. Hopping I can use amazon basic on top of that foam on the parts I covered. -thanks.
These products are all basically the same. Aluminium backed with butyl rubber. Essentially, the cheap stuff is exactly the same as the expensive stuff!
Someone must have paid you or given it to you. It's garbage. Not even half as thick as they state. My guess is around 30 mil. I'm going to grab my calipers to verify.
broken record
