Nice video, I had this today removed the boot cover and this latch just to gain a bit more access to the grey plug I had water leaking from the wiper motors weep vent that's a different job. I think a bit of dielectric grease on the plug pins after a clean up would solve this without swapping unless it was seized? regardless great job. after a clean and grease I have no more "boot open" when its closed warning. even though I still need to tackle the water leak from the wiper unit.
I have the exact same issue. Every time I turn on the jets for the rear wiper I get the system telling me the boot is open, however the boot has been broken for months. I’m looking to fox it and am not sure if it wont open due to a faulty switch or because of the latch. Any updates?
Hi I’m having the boot open sign on my dash where it’s closed the boot opens fine but when it’s closed car says open woudk it be worth charging the full lock
It sounds likely that the actuator in your mechanism has failed which would require the latch to be replaced as that communicates with the dashboard. However please ensure you double check connections and wiring first. Good luck
Help! I have a same problem with my a3 2007, every 6 months I need to clear corosion from pins, how can I stop corosion from building up inside? I dont see any water leak near the lock. Tnx!
Hi there have you checked to ensure that water cannot get in via the seals surrounding the area? Using a clear lubricant with water repellent will certainly help. A spray called contact ol eshop.wurth.co.uk/Product-categories/Contact-spray-OL/31083009030302.cyid/3108.cgid/en/GB/GBP/ is great for corrosion on electrical contacts
friend, I know it has nothing to do with your video, but maybe you can help me. my a3 8p 2007 does not recognize the alarm control, on vcds it shows that the car receives the signal from the control but it does not open or close on the control, do you know what it could be?
Hi there this sounds very much like the key isn’t coded correctly. Will the key unlock the door manually and allow you to start the car? Are you aware of the battery condition in the key fob? Regards
the key works normally, the car starts, the control has a new battery, we measured the alarm frequency and it is normal, the vcds shows that the control sends the alarm signal, but the car does not recognize it, it is only opening and closing manually.
You gave the easiest version of the job I've seen, very reassuring..thanks!
Thanks for the kind comment and glad it helped.
I'd be tempted to change the plug as well. Corrosion will have affected that also, or a fine paper scrape out of the pins. Great video, thanks.
Very nice and clean job done 👍🏽✅. I'm getting mine done this weekend and this video has really helped. Thanks a million.
Really pleased you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 👍
Perfect , exact what i was looking for thanks
Glad it helped, thank you for the kind comment
Good instructions. Thanks for posting this

I have the same problem... do you solve it? Does changing the entire latch clear (fix) the boot open sign?
Help!

Hello mate, my actuator rod is pulling on the latch, keeping it open, it does not seem to respond to key or boot button
Should I replace the actuator?
Por eso no abre la cajuela con el control remoto ?
