Now you saw Human Nature you should complete the trilogy backwards: Erotica and Justify My Love. “Human Nature” is an answer to all the backlash she suffered because of her Erotica album and the Sex book. And you said that back then it was more taboo to artists to express sexuality and today is not as much anymore. That happened because of Erotica and Justify My Love.

My idol and hero for life.

That beat is THE stuff! It is her signature song that she started to perform in her latest shows more frequently, cuz it all comes down to the message of this song that ended up being the motto of her art, if you will.
Love the video reaction and spot on analysis. This track was off of her Bedtime Stories album that was released after Erotica. On Erotica Madonna dealt with a lot of social taboos from S&M to giving the LGBTQI community more visibility in her work. It was about a woman taking ownership of her sexual fantasies and she got a ton of hate for it especially when she released her SEX book. Human Nature was a no regrets fuck off to her critics. I absolutely LOVE how you dissected this video because what you said about the video & the lyrics to the song was 1000000000% right. I've been a fan since her 1st single "Everybody" Released in Oct 1982.
Madonna is embarking on her 12th Tour starting July 2023 & I'm lucky enough to have gotten tickets & This will be my 11th Madonna Tour. The ONLY tour I didn't see was her 1st Tour "The Virgin Tour 1985" other than that I saw her Who's That Girl Tour 1987 (This was her 1st world Tour), Blonde Ambition Tour 1990, The Girlie Show Tour 1993, Drowned World Tour 2001, Re-Invention Tour 2004, Confessions Tour 2006, Sticky & Sweet Tour 2008, The MDNA Tour 2012, Rebel Heart Tour 2015, Madame X Tour 2019 & now her Confessions Tour Also dubbed as her Greatest Hits Tour 2023.
Out of all 11 of these Tours I got to see her perform "Human Nature" 3 times. She Performed it on her Drowned World Tour 2001 & Her Sticky & Sweet Tour 2008 & on her The MDNA Tour 2012 & Her performances of "Human Nature" on all 3 Tour was epic. On her DWT 2001 she did the original version & on the S&S Tour she did a rock version of it & she rocked it out playing a guitar & she had the screens behind her with Britney Spears on it & on 1 stop Britney actually came out & performed it with her & on her MDNA Tour she performed The Original version.
If you guys haven't seen any of her performances on these 3 tours you absolutely should. Also I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see you 2 do a reaction Video to these 3 performances. I really loved watching you 2 react to it.

Hell yeah! Love that you guys have chosen this song! Great song and even better visuals! All the comments below have touched on the song's message, but I thought it important to note that she (well, Dave Hall) samples Main Source's 'What You Need' for this track. That song is bomb and came out maybe only a year or two before Bedtime Stories. Madonna was already legendary at this point, but being the chameleon that she is, Stories was her foray into/and embrace of black sounds, particularly Rap and R&B. Babyface produced on this album and even sings backing vocals. Dallas Austin also produces. The song 'I'd Rather Be Your Lover' was supposed to feature 2Pac (whom she was dating at the time), his verse is even on the internet somewhere, but they went with Meshell Ndegeocello-who killed it. Madonna is major and so is this album! A strong, self-assured woman who always said no to the bullshit. Her output deserves all the analysis and praise! Peace. (:

After the expense of bedtime story. One of the most expensive videos still to ever be made. She had to cut back on the budget. The clothes are from a sex shop to help on the overall cost. But the message was not lost regardless. Great reaction as ever you two. Daniel from London

So this was the album after circa Erotica, she was bullied and heavily criticized. So she said “I’m not sorry, it’s human nature” which essentially is true.

There was also words on the dancers heads/neck. Words like fear, prejudice etc. Since the video is cut the way it is, some of it doesn't show very clearly but I've seen shots of their heads so i know it was there.

I feel like we did more with the knowledge we had then, than what we do in present day, which makes present day feel more repressive and way less progressive than the 90's (a time which I was part of, and I have always been pro empowerment and try to keep up with current events) ever did. in a way we are circling back to where we left off in the 90s in the 20's (hopefully). but the 10s were a mess.
Another though about repression: when she is dancing in the mirror her moves indicate she’s trying to avoid seeing her own reflection
We are repressed now by the culture, nobody can say what's on their mind without being cancelled, god bless this song

You both fully got the meaning of this song and video, but let me suggest you to watch the Erotica video which was previously released ('92). It'll be clearer the reason why of this song and, mainly, why Madonna has been so deeply meaningful and impactful at that time and over the years. It's not only about sex, it's about human nature itself, including its contradictions and paradox.

I agree with your statements, only thing is that male performers like prince, david bowie, elton john, dennis rodman, there were embraced by society and the entertainment world because they were men. So they were not attacked like Madonna was in the 80s and 90s and still to today due to her age, the fact that she was a woman who defied what society wanted to her to made her a target. You should check out her iconic speech at the Billboard woman of the year award show, she truly showed her vulnerable side and discussed what is was like as a daring woman in the music business. It was very much an eye opener.
All this comments on this music video reaction about "human nature" its right, but people born in 1980 was a way to move to the new wave, of express our selves at so many levels, not only in the sex scene. To react on a Madonna music video, its always achieve an open mind to discover, what's really its inside.

I love this video and song so much. It was a big F you to the backlash she got from the Erotica album and Sex book. Madonna has never been outspoken, she has endured so much hate throughout her entire career by expressing her opinions and bringing to light issues and taboos of all kinds and paving the way for others to follow. She is so brave. She turns negativity into art. That is such a rare gift. A lot of the freedoms artists have today are because of artists like Madonna opening our minds. The biggest fight she has fought over the past 20 years is ageism and it’s getting worse. Watch this space, no one will bat an eye lid in 10 years time when an artist in their 60s shows some skin and makes music and videos better than artists in their 20s
